It is a duet for two instruments and band, often played with two piccolos, two clarinets, or two trumpets. It is a fun and twitter-y piece that is perfect for a light interlude in a full concert. This setting for clarinet choir by John Gibson includes solo parts for 2 Bb clarinets as well as 2 Eb clarinets. The Eb parts actually lay easier in the fingers. These parts can be mixed or matched as desired. It is for a full clarinet choir: clarinet 1,2,3 - alto clarinet or alternate 4th Bb part, bass clarinet, contrabass/contralto. .

Lisa L Ochoco #757884. Published by Lisa L Ochoco (A0.1157545). Oscar Böhme was a German-born trumpet player and composer. Not much is known about him. He was born in 1870 near Dresden, Germany. He moved to Russia in 1897 to play the trumpet in various groups and to teach music. Böhme wrote 46 known compositions. This sextet was written for brass instruments, and is one of his best-known pieces. It is quite a gem, and I wanted to make it available to other instrumental groups to perform. The entire work is available for purchase, but this selection is the 2nd movement of 4 only. Scored for 4 Bb, alto, and bass clarinets. There is an optional Eb part that can be played in addition to or in place of the 1st Bb clarinet part. This work is suitable for intermediate-advanced musicians. Duration: 2.5 minutes.

SWEET SUITE: QUARTET FOR CLARINETS Featuring the music of ALEXANDRE GUILMANT In this delightful suite of 4 movements, I have chosen four very eclectic works by the French Organist and Composer Alexandre Guilmant. In his time (1837-1911) he helped found the Schola Cantorum of Paris, and served as Professor of Organ at the Paris Conservatoire from 1896 until his death. His Wiki entry is an interesting read!! Oh, and don't be fooled by the gentle lilt of the first movement! 1. CHANT DU MATIN This jolly piece has a very memorable theme, with an almost Music Hall 'middle eight' section, littered with grace notes, and ends with a big 'film' finish! 2. FUGUE GRAVE Blessed with beautifully lush harmonies, and with the unusual theme based on the diminished 7th, it quite literally makes the Clarinet Quartet sing. 3. Si mon moine voulait danser! (Danse, mon moine, danse). The title is a play on words: moine means both monk and spinning top in French. The lyrics speak of persuading mon moine to dance by offering various articles of clothing, such as a hood or cap.After a brief, yet bold, introduction, the piece jumps into a straightforward rendition of the tune. From there, the melody is repeated, bringing in other voices and added flourishes. While the tune starts to repeat a third time, it doesn’t get to finish its full statement. It’s interrupted by a run up through the ensemble into a rollicking 7/8 section.With a rhythmic accompaniment underneath, the jaunty melody begins in the third clarinets. The upper instruments take over briefly in 6/8, then the tune returns to 7/8. After a quick breather, the accompaniment introduces an upward sweep motif. This alternates with the accompaniment pattern heard at the beginning of the 7/8 section.The lower voices then take control, driving downward into a different tonality and mood. An undulating accompaniment sets a dreamlike feel, with different voices quoting fragments of the theme. The accompaniment transfers between voices throughout the section, eventually changing back into a 3/4, then a 2/4 feel, resulting in a transition back to the original feel of the piece.The low voices get the melody, with rhythmic accompaniment and racing runs throughout the other sections. The melody goes a bit topsy-turvy before the group comes together in the descending quarter note motif from the beginning of the piece, bringing us to the coda. There’s one final quote of the opening of the main theme from the low voices, leading to a whirlwind in the first and Eb with accented notes and suspensions underneath. The Eb pipes up with one last comment and the group closes out the piece.Also available for concert band (S0.708971)

Born in 1839, he was playing the organ in his local church in Vaduz, Liechtenstein at the age of 7.  He spent his life as a piano teacher, conductor, and prolific composer. This arrangement of Kyrie and Agnus Dei originated from one of the 8 Masses Rheinberger wrote in around 1878 for double choir. These are powerful and emotional pieces full of rich, extended chords and beautiful moving phrases.  They are meant to be played with a lot of rubato. Scored 6 Bb and 2 bass clarinets.  Bb contrabasses can double the bass parts.Duration: 7 minutes.

Large melodyIt prepares the second part, wich a fast dance in 11/8 (Kopanitsa, typical dance from Bulgaria), and give a leading place to the high range clarinetsIt's not too difficult. The 11/8 is quite easy, if you let the basses drive the meter and the move.
