A clarinet classic, Mozart's Clarinet Concerto in A Major, K.622 is one of the most well known pieces to any musician.  This arrangement of the work for Clarinet Choir is designed to be as close of a transcription to the orchestral version as possible. No cuts or abbreviations have been made, but for the convenience of the player, the piece has been transposed into concert B-flat.  Included here is Mvt. 1, Allegro from the concerto.  It's scored for Solo Clarinet with Clarinet Choir accompainment, with parts including: Solo Clarinet in Bb Clarinet in Eb (Optional, but recommended) Clarinet in Bb 1 Clarinet in Bb 2 Clarinet in Bb 3 Clarinet in Bb 4 Alto Clarinet (Optional) Bass Clarinet Contrabass Clarinet (Optional) The Solo B-flat Clarinet part is designed to be fully compatible with the soloists preferred edition of the concerto. Articulation used is fully open to the interpretation of the soloist. The provided solo part is meant as a guide.The E-flat Soprano Clarinet part is not required, but highly recommended. In the Hall of the Mountain King was originally written by Edvard Grieg as incidental music (basically background music) for a scene in Henrik Ibsen's play Peer Gynt. The truly distinctive sound has ensured that the piece has continued to be played and arranged for all sorts of groups in the almost century-and-a-half since the play was first performed. This particular arrangement by Mark R Lewis is for a Bb clarinet quartet. The melody jumps between all four parts and players will need to be able to play most of the range of the instrument regardless of which part they are playing. That said, most intermediate players should be able to play this piece given they have the range and it will be a challenge for less experienced players. When I was given the composing project of a piece especially for the Zephyr Clarinet Choir of Portland, Oregon I wanted it to be specifically identifiable as a piece for that organization. After research I discovered that an ancient Greek and Roman god was named Zephros and I decided to compose around the god's various aspects. “Zephyros in my Garden†presents aspects of the Greek and Roman god, Zephyros. He was mostly the god of the gentle west wind, but he could also be not-so-gentle and a danger to sailors. He could be a horse, too! As a musician Zephyros was known to hang out with an ensemble of swans and sing cheeky songs. movements: 1. Aspects of Zephyros 2. Gentle West Wind Bringing Spring 3.Sailors Beware, Zephyros can be stormy 4. Sometimes Zephyros is a horse 5. Zephyros taking a walk in my garden 6. Zephyros and the swans sing a cheeky song As a composition for clarinets the piece uses a few “extended techniquesâ€, some of which the players may not have done before: using ancient pentatonic scales, double tonguing for very fast sections, quarter tone trills, finger vibrato, fall offs and slides, and finally, playing in a cheeky or sassy manner! Â This arrangement of the work for Clarinet Choir is designed to be as close of a transcription to the orchestral version as possible. Â No cuts or abbreviations have been made, but for the convenience of the player, the piece has been transposed into concert B-flat.Included here is Mvt. 3, Rondo from the concerto. Â It's scored for Solo Clarinet with Clarinet Choir accompainment, with parts including: Solo Clarinet in Bb Clarinet in Eb (Optional, but recommended) Clarinet in Bb 1 Clarinet in Bb 2 Clarinet in Bb 3 Clarinet in Bb 4 Alto Clarinet (Optional) Bass Clarinet Contrabass Clarinet (Optional) The Solo B-flat Clarinet part is designed to be fully compatible with the soloists preferred edition of the concerto. Articulation used is fully open to the interpretation of the soloist. The provided solo part is meant as a guide.The E-flat Soprano Clarinet part is not required, but highly recommended. In general, the E-flat Alto Clarinet part is similar to the B-flat Clarinet 4 part, and the B-flat Contrabass Clarinet part is similar to the B-flat Bass Clarinet part. Therefore, the E-flat Alto Clarinet and B-flat Contrabass Clarinet parts are optional.

SWEET SUITE: QUARTET FOR CLARINETS Featuring the music of ALEXANDRE GUILMANT In this delightful suite of 4 movements, I have chosen four very eclectic works by the French Organist and Composer Alexandre Guilmant. In his time (1837-1911) he helped found the Schola Cantorum of Paris, and served as Professor of Organ at the Paris Conservatoire from 1896 until his death. His Wiki entry is an interesting read!! Oh, and don't be fooled by the gentle lilt of the first movement! 1. CHANT DU MATIN This jolly piece has a very memorable theme, with an almost Music Hall 'middle eight' section, littered with grace notes, and ends with a big 'film' finish! 2. FUGUE GRAVE Blessed with beautifully lush harmonies, and with the unusual theme based on the diminished 7th, it quite literally makes the Clarinet Quartet sing. 3. ASPIRATION RELIGIEUSE Despite the religious connotations in the title, this is an almighty vehicle for the Bass Clarinet to shine!The 3 Bb Clarinets hold a singularly static but lovely theme above, as the Bass Clarinet tumbles over the chords with relish from start to finish. A must play for your Bass player! 4. FUGHETTA IN A MINOR This is just a fantastic musical romp for 4 accomplished players!
