Clarinet Choir,Woodwind Ensemble Bass Clarinet,E-Flat Clarinet - Level 3 - SKU: A0.1137191 Composed by George Frideric Handel. Arranged by Lisa Ochoco. Baroque,Christmas,Sacred. 14 pages. Lisa L Ochoco #737392. Published by Lisa L Ochoco (A0.1137191). Pastoral Symphony is the 13th movement in Handel's Messiah. This is the beginning of Scene 4 of the oratorio, The Annunciation to the Shepherds, after the birth of Jesus. The word pastorale in baroque music is a melody in thirds over a drone bass. Originally called Pifa, this movement was named after the shepherd bagpipers - pifferari - who used to play their instruments in the streets of Rome at Christmastime. Scored for 3 Bb and Bb bass clarinets. Optional parts are: *Eb clarinet to play in addition to, or in lieu of the 1st part *Alto clarinet to play in addition to, or in lieu of the 3rd part *Bb contrabass clarinet to play in addition to the bass part an octave lower Duration: 2.5 minutes.

Clarinet Choir,Woodwind Ensemble Bass Clarinet,E-Flat Clarinet - Level 3 - SKU: A0.1247697 By Meghan Trainor. By Luis Federico Vindver, Megan Trainor, and Sean Douglas. Arranged by Lisa Ochoco. 21st Century,Contemporary,Pop. 21 pages. Lisa L Ochoco #842250. Published by Lisa L Ochoco (A0.1247697). This catchy doo-wop song resonates with people with its familiar chord progressions and beat.  Trainor co-wrote this song as part of a therapy exercise after she became insecure about her body after her pregnancy. While this is an instrumental version, the lyrics of this song promote self-love and self-confidence.  The tune is quite repetitive, but it's fun to play and, if anything, is a good filler in between your more technically challenging pieces in your recital. Scored for clarinet choir - 4 Bb, alto, and bass.  There is an optional contrabass and there are also 2 percussion parts that are also optional, but these parts add quite a bit to the mood of the music. This song is just a feel-good, toe-tapping piece that is not difficult and quite entertaining.Duration: 2.25 minutes.

Clarinet Choir,Woodwind Ensemble Clarinet - Level 3 - SKU: A0.1434536 Composed by Gustav Holst. Arranged by James Gaynor. Romantic Period. 24 pages. James Haynor #1014674. Published by James Haynor (A0.1434536). One of the few early works of Holst to survive his scrupulous self-criticism is an unassuming setting of the Ave Maria for eight-part female chorus. Completed in 1900, shortly after he abruptly left the Royal College of Music, the composition is dedicated to the memory of his mother, Clara Lediard Holst, who died when he was a child.Scored here for Clarinet Octet, “ Ave Maria “ is a lovely setting for a haunting rendition of a familiar theme. It adapts very well to this ensemble of instruments.Duration - 4:50.

Clar ensemble - Intermediate - SKU: F2.FM457 Composed by Juan Maria Solare. Clarinet Ensemble. Score and parts. 8 pages. Forton Music - Digital #FM457. Published by Forton Music - Digital (F2.FM457). ISBN 9790570483563.For 3 Bb Clarinets and 1 Bass Clarinet, 'Mercy' is an obsessively expressive Adagio (so to say, a Samuel Barber's equivalent for woodwinds) with a homophonic texture, like a four part chorale. Rhythmically, this piece offers no problems. While the first part requires more experienced players, parts 2, 3 and 4 are relatively easy to play. Most groups would be able to master this piece after only a couple of rehearsals. Some would say that mercy is a virtue, others (following Nietzsche) that it is a weakness. Do not seek in this piece a one-to-one musical transcription of merciful feelings, but rather concentrate on the smoothness and tender sound quality associated with it. Rather than 'pity', mercy is about empathy, togetherness and support - this attitude can also show while performing music.

Woodwind Ensemble Clarinet - Level 3 - SKU: A0.549204 Composed by Gabrieli. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Renaissance,Standards. 56 pages. Jmsgu3 #3461855. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549204). Instrumentation: 2 Eb clarinets, 4 Bb clarinets, 2 bass clarinets. Arranged as a double quartet. Includes Full Score: 28 pg. Study Score: 14 pg. and instrumental parts: 2 pg. Duration: ca. 3:00. Innovations First of all, Gabrieli preferred sacred vocal and certainly instrumental music. Hence, he concentrated on music that consequently took advantage of resonance and likewise reverberation for maximum effect. Seems like Gabrieli may have invented dynamics – or was rather the first to indicate them such as in his Sonata Pian’ e Forte. Consequently, he was also a pioneer in spatial techniques. He therefore developed and used very specific notation to indicate instrumentation. Gabrieli experimented with assembling massive instrumental forces into isolated groups separated by space. In this way, he consequently contributed heavily to the Baroque Concertato style. Polychoral Works Gabrieli probably used the layout of the San Marco church for his experiments. This is because he worked there as a musician and composer. Furthermore, the church had two choir lofts facing each other. He certainly used these to create striking spatial effects between instrumental forces. Certainly, many of his works are composed such that a choir or instrumental group could first be heard on one side, then consequently followed by a response from the group on the other side. Sometimes there was probably a third group positioned near the main altar as well. Spatial Music Above all, Gabrieli studied carefully detailed groups of instruments and singers. Furthermore, it seems like he created precise directions for instrumentation in rather more than two groups. The instruments, because they could be appropriately situated, could consequently be heard with perfect clearness at distant locations. As a result, arrangements which seem bizarre on paper, can in contrast sound perfectly in-balance. First Works Finally, Gabrieli published his first motets along with his uncle Andrea's compositions in Concerti (1587). These compositions furthermore indicate considerable usage of dialogue and echo effects. Consequently, here we see low and high choirs with the variance between their ranges indicated by instrumental accompaniment. Seems like Gabrieli’s later motets Sacrae Symphoniae (1597) move away from close antiphony. In contrast, he moves towards not simply echoing the material, but developing it by sequential choral entrances. Even more, he takes this procedure to the extreme in the Motet Omnes Gentes. Unlike earlier works, here the instruments are certainly an essential part of the presentation. Also, only parts marked: Capella are supposed to be sung. Homophony Hence, after 1605, Gabrieli moves to a much more homophonic style. He writes sections purely for instruments – which calls Sinfonia – and smaller sections for vocal soloists, accompanied by a basso continuo.

Woodwind Ensemble Clarinet - Level 3 - SKU: A0.549213 Composed by Gabrieli. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Renaissance,Standards. 45 pages. Jmsgu3 #3464933. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549213). A musical monument: the first composition to employ dynamics. Minimum Instrumentation:  8 Bb clarinets, 1 alto clarinet, 1 contralto clarinet, 1 contrabass clarinet. Duration: 3:45 at half-note = 86. Her new home is an unhappy one, as Mary's uncle, Archibald, is still mourning the death of his wife. Mary finds a garden that is locked and learns that it had once belonged to Archibald's wife. The garden has been locked since her death. Mary asks her uncle for a bit of earth so she can plant a garden of her own. This is the song that Archibald sings about his niece.

A piece for clarinet sextet that I inspired from the sound and the myth of Kaen, a Thai-Lao-South China bamboo mouth organ. The myth told us about a kind of magical bird that has wonderful singing power. I imagined six birds alive from the Kaen melody (I used Lai Sud Sanan as core melody) then dance freely in each own gesture and tempo. After a while, they fly away to heaven and left us mortal with a beautiful, magical memory.

Published by Travis Hayman (A0.951619). The Star-Spangled Banner is the national anthem of the United States. The lyrics come from the Defence of Fort M'Henry, a poem written on September 14, 1814, by 35-year-old lawyer and amateur poet Francis Scott Key after witnessing the bombardment of Fort McHenry by British ships of the Royal Navy in Baltimore Harbor during the Battle of Baltimore in the War of 1812. Key was inspired by the large U.S. flag, with 15 stars and 15 stripes, known as the Star-Spangled Banner, flying triumphantly above the fort during the U.S. victory. This arrangement contains parts for Eb Soprano Clarinet, three Bb Soprano Clarinets, Eb Alto Clarinet, Bb Bass Clarinet, Eb Contralto Clarinet, and Bb Contrabass Clarinet.

Regis Bookshar #6473853. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813677). I Vow to Thee, My Country (Thaxted) (Bb) (Clarinet Quintet) - Intermediate - . This marvelous arrangement of I Vow to Thee, My Country, a hymn tune based on the Andante Maestoso section from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from Gustav Holst's The Planets, would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for church services, especially Weddings and Funerals, but would be appropriate any time during the church year. However, if you are looking to perform this selection for concerts or recitals, I would suggest you look for the arrangement of Jupiter (Andante Maestoso from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from The Planets), also by Regis Bookshar. These arrangements are suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing these selections as well. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (9 pages). This selection is one of the many arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available for the first time. We have performed the Trumpet Quintet version of this composition quite often for numerous weddings and other special occasions. The Planets, written between 1914 and 1917 by the English composer Gustav Holst, premiered at the Queen's Hall in London, on September 29, 1918 for an invited audience of about 250 people. In the fourth movement, Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity, Holst portrays Jupiter's supposedly characteristic abundance of life and vitality. Nobility and generosity are allegedly characteristics of those born under Jupiter, and in the slower, middle section marked Andante Maestoso, perhaps the most well-known theme from The Planets (and the theme on which this arrangement is based), Holst provides a broad tune embodying these traits. In 1921, Holst adapted the theme to fit the patriotic poem I Vow to Thee, My Country by Cecil Spring Rice, and was written as a unison song with orchestra. It did not appear as the hymn tune until 1926, when Holst harmonized this melody, named Thaxted, named after the English village where he had lived for many years. Holst's friend Ralph Vaughan Williams included it in Songs of Praise. It has since been performed at numerous occasions, most notably for the wedding of Prince Charles and Diana, Princess of Wales in 1981, and also at the funerals of Princess Diana in 1997, Margaret Thatcher in 2013 and Senator John McCain where it was performed at the Washington National Cathedral on September 1, 2018. In addition to being used as the melody for the solemn, patriotic hymn I Vow to Thee, My Country, other settings of this hymn tune also include O God, Beyond All Praising, by Michael Perry in 1982, O Spirit All Embracing by Delores Dufner in 1995 and We Praise You and Acknowledge You, O God, a paraphrase of the Te Deum Laudemus by Stephen P. Starke in 1999.Regis Bookshar thought that it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists could have the opportunity to play this beautiful melody, so, in addition to the Trumpet Quintet version and this version for a Clarinet Quintet, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this selection. There are Quintets readily available for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. Please take the time to look for other versions of this composition. Woodwind Ensemble Clarinet - Level 3 - SKU: A0.813797 Composed by Gustav Holst. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. 20th Century,Contemporary,Sacred,Standards,Wedding. 9 pages. Regis Bookshar #6480789. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813797). O Spirit All-Embracing (Thaxted) (Bb) (Clarinet Quintet) - Intermediate - . This marvelous arrangement of O Spirit All-Embracing, a hymn tune based on the Andante Maestoso section from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from Gustav Holst's The Planets, would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for church services, especially Weddings and Funerals, but would be appropriate any time during the church year. In addition to being used as the melody for the solemn, patriotic hymn I Vow to Thee, My Country, other settings of this hymn tune also include O God, Beyond All Praising, by Michael Perry in 1982, O Spirit All-Embracing by Delores Dufner in 1995 and We Praise You and Acknowledge You, O God, a paraphrase of the Te Deum Laudemus by Stephen P. You may find something else that may also suit your needs. I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar, as well, as there are numerous arrangements in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. I'm certain that this beautiful arrangement of O Spirit All-Embracing based on the Andante Maestoso section from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from Gustav Holst's The Planets, will continu.

Woodwind Ensemble Clarinet - Level 3 - SKU: A0.813963 Composed by Franz Xaver Gruber. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Christmas,Instructional,Multicultural,World. 7 pages. Regis Bookshar #6632975. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813963). Clarinet Quintet - Intermediate - . This arrangement of Silent Night, or in German, Stille Nacht, would be a wonderful addition to any music library and could be performed for Christmas concerts, recitals, and, especially, church services. It is equally suitable for junior and senior high school students and even older musicians. Depending on their ability, younger musicians would also enjoy playing this selection. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (7 pages). This selection is one of the many arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available for the first time.Silent Night is probably the most popular Christmas carol ever written. It was composed in 1818 by Franz Xaver Gruber to lyrics by Joseph Mohr and was first performed on Christmas Eve at St. Nicholas parish church in Oberndorf, a small village in present-day Austria. A young Catholic priest, Father Joseph Mohr, had written the poem, Stille Nacht, in 1816 and had gone to Oberndorf in 1817. The melody was composed by Franz Xaver Gruber, schoolmaster and organist in the nearby village of Arnsdorf. On Christmas Eve, 1818, Mohr brought the words to Gruber and asked him to compose a melody and guitar accompaniment for that night's mass, after river flooding had possibly damaged the church organ. The church was eventually destroyed by repeated flooding and has since been replaced with the Silent-Night-Chapel.According to Gruber, Karl Mauracher, an organ builder who serviced the instrument at the Oberndorf church, was enamored with the song, and took the composition home with him to the Ziller Valley in Tyrol, Austria. From there, two traveling families of folk singers, the Strassers and the Rainers, included the tune in their shows. The Rainers were already singing it around Christmas, 1819, and once performed it for an audience that included Franz I of Austria and Alexander I of Russia. They also gave the first performance of the song in the United States in New York City in 1839. By the 1840's, the song was well known and was reported to be a favorite of Frederick William IV of Prussia. During this period, the melody changed slightly to become the version that is commonly heard today. The version of the melody that is generally used today is a slow, meditative lullaby, or pastoral, differing slightly from Gruber's original which has a moderate tempo. The song has been translated into about 140 languages and has been recorded by many singers across many music genres. The version sung by Bing Crosby in 1935, has sold over 10 million copies as a single. In this arrangement of Silent Night, Regis Bookshar has kept the basic form of this familiar Christmas carol, but has also included a descant during the third verse. Also, in addition to this version for a Clarinet Quinet, there are other arrangements of Silent Night available for a variety of instrumental ensembles. There are Quintets and Octets readily available for purchase. Please take the time to look for other versions of this composition. You may find something else that might also suit your needs.I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar, as well, as there are numerous arrangements in a wide variety of styles, also available for purchase.
