Scored for Clarinet in E flat, 3 B flat Clarinets, Alto and Bass Clarinet, Weekend in Paris is a bright jazz waltz intended to convey the excitement and anticipation of a trip to Paris. The music is to bring to mind pleasure in sightseeing, wandering around cafe's, seeing children at play, people dancing and laughing and families gathering in a happy relaxed atmosphere in the glorious sunshine. The piece is in Concert D flat major establishing the bright swingy rhythm, this then flows into the second section which is more lyrical and legato. A short bridge section follows keeping the motif's heard in the first section but exploring the lower registers and remains largely legato. The first two sections are then heard again before a modulation takes place to give the piece a final lift before the end. The piece concludes quietly with a snippet of the opening motif. It is a descriptive exciting piece, and the intention was to make it mysterious in style with a film-like storyline flowing through it. It has a calm intro going into a heavily syncopated driving 4 as the main theme punctuated by a heavy accented ostinato figure to add tension. The middle section is calmer and more relaxed where elements of the 1st theme appear in fragmented form. The intro returns once again before returning to the main theme which has slight modifications-extra accents etc, and the piece ends with the recurring stabs heard earlier before flourishing out. The ranges of the Clarinets are between one and a half octaves and 2 octaves depending on the part. Set at intermediate level but the full score is on the youtube link for you to assess suitability. This tree lines the streets of Buenos Aires which is considered by many to be the birthplace of the Argentinian Tango.This original Tango has two main sections- a passionate and animated section to begin with which clearly states the rhythms associated with the Tango, followed by a contrasting more wistful romantic middle section, which has the Cuban habanera elements present, from which a Tango is derived. Then the piece returns to the first section taking it to a conclusionJacaranda is scored for E flat Clarinet, 3 B flat Clarinets, Alto and Bass Clarinet and is in the key of B flat minor (concert) with the middle section in B flat major. The range is around two octaves for all players, and I have tried to keep all parts interesting with shared moments of melodic and rhythmic interest. The outer sections have strong melodic lines underpinned crisp staccato support providing a solid striding beat. The middle section (which should be played in exactly the same pulse) is more lyrical and legato featuring triplets, but still retains the underpinning crotchet beat, but with a more delicate approach for variation. After a short link passage which features a couple of time signature changes, the main theme returns with a short coda- like few bars to take the piece to a conclusion. Waltz of the Harlequins is an original piece- The Harlequin is the best-known of the comic servant characters from the Italian commedia dell'arte- popularised in Paris in the 16thc. The Harlequin is characterized by his checkered costume. Their role is that of a light-hearted, nimble, and astute servant, Harlequin inherits his physical agility and his trickster qualities, as well as his name, from a mischievous devil character in medieval passion plays. This concert piece written in waltz time (almost 1 in a bar)is playful and light, and represents the characters escapades. It is in ternary for in Concert C minor with the middle section in A flat major major before returning to the opening them and coda. It is a very restful melodic piece based on a single motif heard in bar 1. Written in concert B flat major the piece is very hymn -like in design- with long notes and chords but has some unusual harmonies. The searing theme is stated then repeated with variation in texture. The theme is then developed using the rhythmic motif in the beginning climaxing in C major briefly before calmly returning to B flat major to repeat again. On this repeat more variation takes place before a restful conclusion. The top note is top B flat (C5) and I've tried to keep all parts interesting. The full score is 11 pages and parts are 3 pages each- it is roughly 5 mins 30 in length. I have set it to intermediate level but an early intermediate should be ok with some of the parts. The Jester was a member of the household of a nobleman or a monarch employed to entertain guests during royal court. Jesters were also traveling performers who entertained common folk at fairs and town markets, and the discipline continues into the modern day, where jesters perform at historical-themed events.This piece is in ternary form. The outer sections are to represent the general clowning around and playing pranks as a mischievous Jester does. The middle section by contrast is more lyrical to demonstrate a softer side to the personality, however this quickly transcends back to the final section where jokes, pranks and laughs have their way! It should be performed very briskly and lightly to capture the overall feel of the piece. The range in total is two and a half octaves and it is 4.00 minutes in length- Set at Intermediate level, but lots of areas are less so. Midnight Carousel is scored Clarinet in E flat, 3 B flat Clarinets, Alto and Bass Clarinet.
Midnight Carousel is in the deep rich key of concert C minor to aid to the "After Dark" mood and mystery"
The piece has two distinct ideas. After the introduction a Circus- type Waltz begins, when this is repeated it has a very haunting counter melody which is both lilting and lyrical. As the piece develops, an out of character playful Scherzo theme begins which adds some intensity and mystery surrounding the Midnight Carousel. Both Waltz and Scherzo themes exchange dialogue throughout this section as if wanting some sort of control, when suddenly two accents appear to signify a "halt" We then return to the opening theme once more to lead us to a finish. Before the conclusion however, the Scherzo theme re-instates it's ideas before the final bars!
The whole score is on the youtube link for you to assess suitability- It has been set to intermediate level as the range is around 2 octaves with some parts less than this. Mainly Quarter and Eighth notes used throughout- therefore it would be appropriate for some early-intermediate players.

Ideal for concerts, contests, productions, halloween, folklore/fantasy themes or simply something different to add to the repertoire.

They are plentiful in Somerset in the West Country of England Though similar in appearance to a gargoyle, a hunky punk is purely decorative and has no other functional purpose whatsoever!! Unlike the gargoyle, which serves to drain water off the roof through its mouth.The theory behind hunky punks and grotesques in general, was that churches were designed to reflect the balance between good and evil, reminding worshippers of the narrow path leading through life. As a result, for every saint or animal that was intended to signify purity and ‘goodness’, there was also an ugly creature to signify evil and ‘badness’.Scored for E flat Clarinet, 4 B flat Clarinets, Alto, Bass and Contrabass Clarinet. This piece is in concert G minor and begins with a medieval type of fanfare which occurs throughout. What follows is a haunting theme with lots of flattened 5ths and several discords to represent the uncomfortable nature of this statue. The staccato and accent direction in most of the piece gives the impression of walking on eggshells not knowing what lies around the corner! Then a brief legato section of the fanfare appears to provide a calmer atmosphere before eventually returning to the main theme and big ending. Set at intermediate level but on the youtube link there is the full score for you to assess suitability. It is nearly 5 mins in length and would be a great addition to a repertoire.Price is for the full score and all parts.
