Published by JB Linear (A0.1086812). A montuno is a type of vamp found in Latin music, particularly Cuban music. A vamp is a repeating figure, often an accompaniment. It is same musical type as a riff in rock music or a loop. This montuno for clarinets is a deep dive into the rhythm, the simple chord sequence, and sometimes complex combinations all within a series of 4 bar phrases. The rhythm is the 2/3 clave pattern heard in the percussion part. In case someone in the group is so inclined to provide a solo melody, chords are provided. As delightful as that would be, the variety already written in the montuno is sufficient. Mozart wrote this Serenade for wind ensemble. Adagio is the 3rd movement, which features the oboe, clarinet, and basset horn as alternating soloists throughout the movement.
The beginning of this movement was played in the movie, Amadeus, which is where I heard it for the first time. After years of having this on my "to arrange" list, I can finally tick it off.
This arrangement for clarinet choir has the melody parts in Clarinets 1, 2 and 3. These can be played as solos, or not. The contrabass part is optional.
This would be a great piece for any occasion.

This is a fun piece and a real crowd-pleaser to program in a clarinet choir concert.This was arranged for the San Francisco Bay area clarinet choir Clarinet Fusion. It is intended for 10 players: 6 soprano, E-flat, Alto, Bass and Contralto. With the exception of the Bass Clarinet starting the piece, the Bass and Contra are in unison. This creates a very nice swing-style walking bass. If you do not have a contra, you could double the bass part in place of it.The 1st and 2nd clarinet parts both get a solo passage. Chords and the basic melody are noted in those sections, but solos are not written out.

Louisiana Fairy Tale (or Louisiana Fairytale) is a song written in 1935 by Haven Gillespie, with lyrics by Mitchell Parish and J. Fred Coots, and was originally popularized by Fats Waller. Waller's version opens with him playing a four-bar solo piano lead-in to a clarinet melody backed by drums, guitar, clarinet, trumpet and piano. A muted trumpet bridge precedes Waller's vocal verses, and a Dixieland-style improvisational instrumental jam closes the recording. This arrangement for Clarinet Choir, at the Intermediate Level, includes parts for Eb Clarinet, 1st Clarinet (Solo), 2nd Clarinet, 3rd Clarinet, Alto Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, and Full Score.Â
