This version is arranged as a duet in a Jazz Swing style for one Flute and one Alto Saxophone. Click on the YouTube link above to listen to a full length performance of this arrangement played on Clarinet.The lyrics of Joy to the World were composed by Isaac Watts in 1719, while the most popular melody associated with the carol was composed by Lowell Mason in 1843. Mason was an admirer of G.F. Handel and the similarity of the melody to parts of the Messiah have been pointed out by many commentators.With a performance time of around two and a half minutes, this version of Joy to the World is perfect for seasonal celebrations and concert performances, both formal and informal. The jazz style is a fun, fresh and soulful take on this familiar tune.Joy to the World is arranged in a key and range best suited to the instruments.
