And though the music is a little more meditative than many tunes, it is still in keeping with the original expression that helped give rise to the hymn: “Had I a thousand tongues, I would praise Him with them all!” After the piano and flute introduction, the new tune is lightly harmonized in both stanzas, but each has it’s own unique voicing at My gracious Master and You break the power, respectively. The brief flute/C instrument solo can add a lot to the piece, but an optional cut from the end of m.41 to m.59 and on to the key change could be offered in the score. After the key change the melody returns in unison, followed by a worshipful close. To give unity to the composition, the author adopted a series of chordal motifs that serve as leitmotifs, formed by two or three chords symbolizing some basic concepts that cyclically reappear in the various pieces (love, life, death, etc.).The ensemble comprises four parts: first tenor, second tenor, baritone, bass, which can be performed by soloists or by a choral group. In the piece Bella Cantatrice, it is possible to entrust the main melody to a tenor soloist. Although a reduction for piano is printed in the score, its purpose is only to support the voices during rehearsal. Public performance is intended for a cappella voices.

I never got to meet my uncle and with my grandfather, he passed away in the summer of 2018. I never really absorbed what really happened and I never had the chance to express how I really felt, until I found the poem Libre soy. The piece is based on the funeral poem Libre soy by an unknown author. The main theme is the calming freedom that is an afterthought when it comes to grieving and a homage to my uncle and grandfather.
