Choral Choir (TTBB) - Level 2 - SKU: A0.1270160 By Arlo Guthrie. By Arlo Guthrie. Arranged by Craig Hanson. A Cappella,Comedy,Folk. Octavo. 6 pages. Edition Craig Hanson #862589. Published by Edition Craig Hanson (A0.1270160). For TTBB chorus a cappella and solo voice. As performed by Arlo Guthrie.Wanna hear something? You know that Indians never ate clams. They didn't have linguini! And so what happened was that clams was allowed to grow unmolested in the coastal waters of America for millions of years. And they got big, and I ain't talking about clams in general, I'm talking about each clam! Individually. I mean each one was a couple of million years old or older. So imagine they could have got bigger than this whole room. And when they get that big, God gives them little feet so that they could walk around easier. And when they get feet, they get dangerous. I'm talking about real dangerous. I ain't talking about sitting under the water waiting for you. I'm talking about coming after you.Imagine being on one of them boats coming over to discover America, like Columbus or something, standing there at night on watch, everyone else is either drunk or asleep. And you're watching for America and the boat's going up and down. And you don't like it anyhow but you gotta stand there and watch, for what? Only he knows, and he ain't watching. You hear the waves lapping against the side of the ship. The moon is going behind the clouds. You hear the pitter patter of little footprints on deck. ‘Is that you kids?’ It ain't! My god! It's this humongous, giant clam!Imagine those little feet coming on deck. A clam twice the size of the ship. Feet first. You're standing there shivering with fear, you grab one of these. This is a belaying pin. They used to have these stuck in the holes all around the ship… You probably didn't know what this is for; you probably had an idea, but you were wrong. They used to have these stuck in the holes all along the sides of the ship, everywhere. You wouldn't know what this is for unless you was that guy that night.I mean, you'd grab this out of the hole, run on over there, bam bam on them little feet! Back into the ocean would go a hurt, but not defeated, humongous, giant clam. Ready to strike again when opportunity was better. You know not even the coastal villages was safe from them big clams. You know them big clams had an inland range of about 15 miles. Think of that. I mean our early pioneers and the settlers built little houses all up and down the coast you know. A little inland and stuff like that and they didn't have houses like we got now, with bathrooms and stuff. They built little privies out back. And late at night, maybe a kid would have to go, and he'd go stomping out there in the moonlight. And all they'd hear for miles around...(loud clap/belch).... One less kid for America. One more smiling, smurking, humongous, giant clam.So Americans built forts. Them forts --you know—them pictures of them forts with the wooden points all around. You probably thought them points was for Indians but that's stupid! 'Cause Indians know about doors. But clams didn't. Even if a clam knew about a door, so what? A clam couldn't fit in a door. I mean, he'd come stomping up to a fort at night, put them feet on them points, jump back crying, tears coming out of them everywhere. But Americans couldn't live in forts forever. You couldn't just build one big fort around America. How would you go to the beach? So what they did was they formed groups of people. I mean they had groups of people all up and down the coast form these little alliances. Like up North it was call the Clamshell Alliance. And farther down South it was called the Catfish Alliance. They had these Alliances all up and down the coast defending themselves against these threatening monsters. These humongous giant clams. Andt hey'd go out there, if there was maybe fifteen of them they'd be singing songs in fifteen part harmony. And when one part disappeared, that's how they knew where the clam would be.Which is why Americans only sing in four part harmony to this very day. That proved to be too dangerous. See, what they did was they'd be singing these songs called Clam Chanties, and they'd have these big spears called clampoons. And they'd be walking up and down the beach and the method they eventually devised where they'd have this guy, the most strongest heavy duty true blue American, courageous type dude they could find and they'd have him out there walking up and down the beach by himself with other chicken dudes hiding behind the sand dunes somewhere. He'd be singing the verses. They'd be singing the chorus, and clams would hear 'em. And clams hate music. So clams would come out of the water and they'd come after this one guy. And all you'd see pretty soon was flying all over the sand flying up and down the beach manmanclamclammanmanclam manclamclamman up and down the beach going this way and that way up the hills in the water out of the water behind the trees everywhere. Finally the man would jump over a big sand dune, roll over the side, the clam would come over the dune, fall in the hole and fourteen guys would come out there and stab the shit out of him with their clampoons. That's the way it was. That was one way to deal with them. The other way was to weld two clams together. [I don't believe it. I'm losing it. Hey. What can you do. Another night shot to hell.] Hey, this was serious back then. This was very serious. I mean these songs now are just piddly folk songs. But back then these songs were controversial. These was radical, almost revolutionary songs. Because times was different and clams was a threat to America. That's right. So we want to sing this song tonight about the one last... You see what they did was there was one man, he was one of these men, his name will always be remembered, his name was Reuben Clamzo, and he was one of the last great clam men there ever was. He stuck the last clam stab. The last clampoon into the last clam that was ever seen on this continent. Knowing he would be out of work in an hour. He did it anyway so that you and me could go to the beach in relative safety. That's right. Made America safe for the likes of you and me. And so we sing this song in his memory. He went into whaling like most of them guys did and he got out of that, when he died. You know, clams was much more dangerous than whales. Clams can run in the water, on the water or on the ground, and they are so big sometimes that they can jump and they can spread their kinda shells and kinda almost fly like one of them flying squirrels. You could be standing there thinking that your perfectly safe and all of a sudden whop.... That's true... And so this is the song of this guy by the name of Reuben Clamzo and the song takes place right after he stabbed this clam and the clam was, going through this kinda death dance over on the side somewhere. The song starts there and he goes into whaling and takes you through the next...I sing the part of the guy on the beach by himself. I go like this: Poor old Reuben Clamzo and you go Clamzo Boys Clamzo. That's the part of the fourteen chicken dudes over on the other side. That's what they used to sing. They'd be calling these clams out of the water. Like taunting them making fun of them. Clams would get real mad and come out. Here we go. I want you to sing it in case you ever have an occasion to join such an alliance. You know some of these alliances are still around. Still defending America against things like them clams. If you ever wants to join one, now you have some historic background. So you know where these guys are coming from. It's not just some 60's movement or something, these things go back a long time.Notice the distinction you're going to have to make now between the first and easy Clamzo Boys Clamzo and the more complicated Clamzo Me Boys Clamzo. Stay serious! Folk songs are serious. That's what Pete Seeger told me. Arlo I only want to tell you one thing... Folk songs are serious. I said right. Let's do it in C for Clam...Iet's do it in B... For boy that's a big clam... Iet' s do it in G for Gee, I hope that big clam don't see me. Let's do it in F... For …he sees me. Let's do it back in A...for a clam is coming. Better get this song done quick. The Story of Reuben Clamzo and His Strange Daughter in the Key of A.

TTBB divisi chorus - SKU: BJ.1351 Composed by Henrik Dahlgren. Secular. Octavo. 12 pages. Bo Ejeby Forlag - Digital #1351. Published by Bo Ejeby Forlag - Digital (BJ.1351). 8.27 x 11.7 inches. In 2017, I was commissioned by the Svanholm Singers to write a work for inclusion in a concert marking 70 years since the proclamation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Choosing a text was difficult. I came across upon a poem by American poet Maya Angelou, but it struck me as being too powerful and emotional for the music I was writing to carry it; everything I composed sounded banal next to Angelou's words. I soon realized that I could use silence to enhance the text, rather than heaping layers and layers of music upon it. Silence is both terrifying and serious - in a sense, it is the only adequate counterpoint to the poetry. So, I decided to build the piece on silence. Though the beginning of the piece is the opposite of silence - a scream of desperation - I followed that outburst by cutting the poem's stanzas into single words, repeated in a different order each time, almost in the manner of a mantra. Finally, they end up in the right order and suddenly the words take on their rightful meaning. I hope, in this way, the music is equally powerful as the words. Son to Mother has been well-received and has gone on to become one of the most widely performed pieces I have written. It has been performed at various festivals and in various countries, including Taiwan, France and China - where it only just made it past the government censors. Also available for mixed choir.Henrik Dahlgren is a Swedish composer, born 1991. He has been studying at the Academy Of Music in Malmo with Prof. Rolf Martinsson and the Royal College Of Music in London with Dr. Haris Kittos. Henrik started his musical career as a drummer and has ever since worked in a very wide range of different genres and styles, both as a performer and as a composer.

Jorg (A0.522311). THE SONG DEPICTS THE STORY OF KING NEBUCHADNEZZAR'S DREAM AS INTERPRETED BY THE PROPHET DANIEL IN CHAPTER TWO OF HIS BOOK. THIS SPIRITUAL WAS SUNG BY THE ARRANGER IN THE LATE '50'S IN A COLLEGE MEN'S CHORUS, ALTHOUGH NO MUSIC WAS EVER SEEN; IT WAS SIMPLY PASSED DOWN YEAR TO YEAR IN THE CHORUS. AN EARLY RECORDING BY THE SILVER LEAF QUARTETTE, A BLACK GROUP IN THE LATE '20'S OR EARLY 30'S, HAD SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT WORDS, WITH THEIR HARMONY BEING DEEPLY SPIRITUAL, QUITE DIFFERENT FROM THIS ARRANGEMENT. LIKE MANY EARLY NEGRO SPIRITUALS AND SEA SHANTIES, THERE IS NO RECORD OF COMPOSERS. RALPH STANLEY AND HIS GROUP HAVE A BLUEGRASS VERSION WITH A DIFFERENT HARMONY, AND THE GROUP PHISH ALSO HAS A RECORDING OF THE SONG. THERE ARE A DOZEN OR MORE DIFFERENT VERSES OF LYRICS THAT HAVE BEEN USED BY VARIOUS GROUPS DOWN THROUGH THE DECADES. HERE'S HALF A DOZEN - FOR A CAPPELLA TTBB.

LABBS - Ladies Association of British Barbershop Singers #4580047. Published by LABBS - Ladies Association of British Barbershop Singers (A0.892463). An uplifting song arranged by members of the LABBS Music Judging Category in 4 part close harmony transposed for men's voicings, in the barbershop style (internal melody). Sticking fairly close to the original, the arrangement features solos of each voicepart on the melody, and rousing homophonic choruses. The standard tag builds to a satisfying climax, with an optional extended tag that sends it through the roof! The arrangement is suitable for most male barbershop choruses and quartets as a fun, fairly quick learn for performance repertoire. Each voicepart is well within the standard barbershop ranges of most arrangements. Note: if you are unfamiliar with the scoring of male barbershop music, be aware the treble clef should be sung an octave lower than written, as designated by the 8 below the clef. This arrangement is not suitable for use in barbershop contests. This song and arrangement would also be a great choice for other genres of male choirs and a cappella quartets or ensembles, including high school / college / secondary school choirs wanting to try the barbershop style. It is a fun and modern song containing a strong and poignant message about not bending to peer pressure and being your own person and remaining true to yourself.

Choral Choir (TTBB) - Level 3 - SKU: A0.997249 Composed by Ben Raleigh and David Monk. Arranged by Alex Frank. A Cappella. Octavo. 5 pages. Alex Frank #5218187. Published by Alex Frank (A0.997249). This arrangement is a unique take on the Scooby Doo theme song, as it is to be sung by just 4 voices together in close harmony in the style of Barbershop, a type of A Capella music. It is designed for an all-male barbershop quartet to sing at competitions, shows, parties, and many other kinds of gatherings. It may be sung by a larger Barbershop chorus, with 4 distinct parts and multiple people on each part, but works best when sung as a quartet. The arrangement is based off of the theme song to a Saturday morning animated cartoon series titled Scooby Doo, Where Are You!, which debuted in 1969 and ran actively until 1976. The premise of the show is a gang of five mystery-solving teenagers and their Great Dane dog, Scooby Doo investigating the various spooky occurrences in the area caused by supernatural creatures that terrorize the people in the area. While the gang is overall very intelligent and adept at finding clues which always leads to success at apprehending any suspects involved, their key to success lies in Scooby-Doo, whom the gang depends on for his waggish nature and the tricks he plays on the monsters or villains. While Scooby Doo is often filled with trepidation at the thought of being near any monsters or haunted houses, he often overcomes that fear when his team needs it the most, especially when his favorite treat is promised for coming through: Scooby Snacks. The theme song seeks to instill this message that the main character comes through when needed most. Contact me for any further questions at frankalexander92@gmail.com.

Choral Choir (TTBB) - Level 3 - SKU: A0.943040 By Toto. By David Paich, Jeff Porcaro, Prince Lamont Board Priese, and Robin Dimaggio. Arranged by Jonathan Kilhams. Pop,Rock. Octavo. 18 pages. Jonathan Kilhams #4797945. Published by Jonathan Kilhams (A0.943040). About the pieceAfrica is a song by the American rock band Toto. It was included on their 1982 album Toto IV, and released as a single on September 30, 1982. It reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart on February 5, 1983 (the band's only number one there), and number three on the UK Singles Chart the same month. The initial idea and words for the song came from David Paich. Jeff Porcaro explains the idea behind the song: a white boy is trying to write a song on Africa, but since he's never been there, he can only tell what he's seen on TV or remembers in the past.Paich said: At the beginning of the '80s I watched a late night documentary on TV about all the terrible death and suffering of the people in Africa. It both moved and appalled me, and the pictures just wouldn't leave my head. I tried to imagine how I'd feel about if I was there and what I'd do.In 2015, Paich explained the song is about a man's love of a continent, Africa, rather than just a personal romance. In 2018, Paich explained the song is about a person flying in to meet a lonely missionary. As a child, Paich attended a Catholic school. Several of the teachers had done missionary work in Africa, and this became the inspiration behind the line I bless the rains down in Africa.About the arrangementI have tried to keep as much of the original material used by Toto as possible, within the confines of a male voice choir arrangement. The arrangement is for TTBB and piano and can include sound effects made by the choir at the beginning to imitate rain and a thunderstorm. A bongo/djembe drum can be played through the choruses to add more of an African percussive feel. My thanks must go to Gareth Giles who helped create the piano part for this arrangement.Duration: 4 minsAdditional Parts & Social MediaIf you require any additional learning parts or rehearsal tracks then please contact me directly through www.jonathankilhams.com. Choral Choir,Choral (TTBB Chorus) - Level 3 - SKU: A0.1516691 By Mark R Lewis. By Mark R Lewis. Arranged by Mark R Lewis. Contemporary,Praise & Worship,Religious,Sacred. 11 pages. Mark R Lewis #1090864. Published by Mark R Lewis (A0.1516691). The text for “Where Is Hope?” is adapted from the Lamentations Chapter 3 and is an expression of hopelessness, almost depression. The text starts out with the singer feeling lost, alone, and in pain. As the song progresses, the singer remembers God’s promises to always help and be with us. By the end of the song, the singer has regained hope and is triumphant and comforted. First and foremost, the music is very much intended to support the lyrical content of this song.Throughout the song, the key switches from major to minor (both parallel and relative) quite frequently. The piece starts with a very free section with almost no tempo alternating between just voices and simple piano accompaniment. The middle sections have stricter tempo and more active piano accompaniment and the final section increases in speed and excitement with piano truly accompanying the voices instead of just mostly mirroring them. Throughout the piece, meter always follows word stress so there are a surprising number of time signature changes with lyrical clarity always being more important than strict meter. All that said, the rhythms are not too difficult throughout the song and while there are some dissonant harmonies, the musical lines themselves should be singable by most intermediate choirs. The most challenging voice part is probably the tenor 1 line which spends a lot of time in the higher ranges. There are a few optional parts for the tenor 1s that will truly test the range of the singers.

Fresh from being the celebrated finale of the Palm Springs Gay Men's Chorus performance at GALA2024, this awesome arrangement is now available for your Men's Chorus! Starting with a haunting a cappella (optional piano) choral bed of sound, the opening pensive statements of a soloist set the tone. Lush chords, written with excellent voice-leadings make this accessible to intermediate to advanced choruses. The tempo picks up with the entrance of the Piano accompaniment (other Instrumental Parts available in an Instrumental Pack) and things really get cooking. The full chorus is featured for Verse 2 and the Chorus of the song. The soloist(s) rejoin the Chorus in a great build to a Double Chorus overlay of the two themes. Finally, the Chorus unites in brilliant sparkling chords to finish the song's epic message. Sample audio recording of part of PSGMC's performance coming soon.

Published by Jonathan Kilhams (A0.943042). About the piece Can't Help Falling in Love is a 1961 song recorded by American singer Elvis Presley for the album Blue Hawaii (1961). It was written by Hugo Peretti, Luigi Creatore, and George David Weiss and published by Gladys Music, Inc. (The melody is based on Plaisir d'amour, a popular French love song composed in 1784 by Jean-Paul-Égide Martini). The song was initially written for a woman as Can't Help Falling in Love with Him, which explains the first and third line ending on in and sin rather than words rhyming with you. Can't Help Falling in Love was featured in Presley's 1961 film Blue Hawaii. During the following four decades, it has been recorded by numerous other artists, including Bob Dylan on his 1973 album Dylan, Tom Smothers, Swedish pop group A-Teens, and the British reggae group UB40, whose 1993 version topped the U.S. and UK charts. Elvis Presley's version of the song topped the British charts in 1962, spending four weeks at no. 1. The single is certified Platinum by the RIAA, for US sales in excess of one million copies. In the United States, the song peaked at No. 2 on the US Billboard Hot 100 behind Joey Dee and the Starliters' Peppermint Twist and went to No. 1 on the Adult Contemporary chart for six weeks.About the arrangement This arrangement was inspired by the Elvis Presley version in 1962 and also the Pentatonix version recorded in 2017. It has been arranged for choirs that like to perform off by heart as the verse and chorus harmony are the same with very slight additions. The title song from the musical and movie has been a mainstay of barbershop contest repertoire for many years, but most versions take the world of cabaret and absorb it into the barbershop world. This arrangement, whilst fully barbershop in terms of its harmonic and textural choices, stays in the imaginative world of the original story, where the glitz is used to ward off the darkness of life outside. Using the full verse, with its story of a life lived hard and fast, transforms the meaning of the second chorus. Happiness is felt the more for being hard-won.Vocal Ranges:Tenor: C4 - C5Lead: C3 - G5Bari: F3 - F4Bass: G2 - D4www.HelpingYouHarmonise.com

Kathleen McGuire #963445. Published by Kathleen McGuire (A0.1378737). This arrangement for men's choir (TTBB) was commissioned by the Buffalo Gay Men's Chorus in dedicated to a devoted member whom they lost far too soon. The ebb and flow of dynamics, constrasts of legato and marcato, a dramatic piano accompaniment, plus some unresolved vocal harmonies, allow for a series of emotions to be painted such as those experienced in the grief cycle. From Canadian band Simple Plan, ‘Gone Too Soon’ was first released in 2011. The inspiration for the song was the tragic loss of so many talented artists, actors and musicians to drug overdoses or suicide. On the Simple Plan website, drummer Chuck Corneau explained: “We thought it was so sad to see so much talent being wasted. Also there were people in our family and some great friends we lost. So the song is a combination of all that. Yes the song is about missing someone who is goneâ€. Singer Pierre Bouvier added: “Hopefully this song can help people that are going through similar situations where they feel like someone in their family or one of their friends has gone too soon.â€.

Published by Phantom K Music (A0.1012286). Wayfaring Stranger is an American folk song that is initially presented here in its most simple form of an a cappella single voice line. The arrangement slowly builds throughout the piece culminating in 3-part harmony before being scaled back to a monophonic vocal line again. Remembering that this is a folk song, the text should be sung in a simple, innocent style. While writing this piece, we often thought about picturing the countryside of youth. The text deals with one of the most personal things in one's life and that is the subject of life after death. We really hope you enjoy performing this piece as much as we did writing it.

Choral Choir,Choral (TTBB) - Level 2 - SKU: A0.1346944 Composed by Albert Phillip Mc Kay, Maurice White, Paul Russell, and Sean Cook. Arranged by Jacob Klingsten. 21st Century,A Cappella,Broadway,Contemporary,Hip-Hop,Musical/Show. 12 pages. Jacob Klingsten #931731. Published by Jacob Klingsten (A0.1346944). Lil Boo Thang by Paul Russell is a 2023 top track with a positive, energetic atittude. This arrangement is for TTBB acapella groups, and sits at an easy difficulty for high school/collegiate groups. While there isn’t a vocal percussionist part in the score, it is recommended to perform this arrangement with one. This arrangement features a hype-up kind of energy like no other while being quite repetitive and fun to sing with doubled spoken parts. Additionally, there are multiple opportunities for the ensemble to get the crowd excited, with suggestions such as freestyle dancing and clapping in the score. This piece is a great way to start or end your program or even a set within your repertoire!Additional Details: Key: C Major 12 Pages Length: 1m 55s Ranges Soloist: C3-C4 (E4) T1: G3-A4 T2: G3-F4 B1: E3-C4 B2: G2-G3 If you would like the score changed to fit your ensemble's needs, the practice tracks to this piece once purchased, or if you are looking to have a new arrangement commissioned for your ensemble, please let Jacob Klingsten, the arranger, know at jacobkarranging@gmail.com. He will change the score to your needs (within reason) and provide practice tracks at no additional charge to your purchase, and he typically charges $50-75 per commissioned arrangement. Choral Choir (TTBB) - Level 2 - SKU: A0.522436 Composed by Lyrics -Fannie Crosby, Music - Phoebe Knapp. Arranged by Paul A. Jorg. A Cappella,Christian,Holiday,Sacred,Traditional. Octavo. 3 pages. Paul A. Jorg #6120691. Published by Paul A. Jorg (A0.522436). Here is a bit of what Fanny Crosby had to say about how the song came into being:Sometimes a tune is furnished me for which to write the words. The hymn titled Blessed Assurance was made in this manner. My dear friend Phoebe Palmer Knapp (Mrs. Joseph), so well-known as a writer and singer of most excellent music and as an aid and inspiration to all who knew her, had composed the tune; and it seemed to me one of the sweetest I had heard for a long time. She asked me what it said. I replied, Blessed assurance. I felt while bringing the words and tones together that the air and the hymn were intended for each other.-from Fanny Crosby's Memories This song and To God Be the Glory are two of her most widely published songs, and this song appears in 951 hymnals, according to Himnary.org.This arrangement is for 4 part male harmony (TTBB) a cappella.
