Solo Guitar - Level 4 - SKU: A0.1271459 Composed by Dominic Brown. Arranged by John Fries. 19th Century,Celtic,Film/TV,Folk,Irish,Standards. Individual part. 2 pages. John Fries #863860. Published by John Fries (A0.1271459). Please contact me by email at jfries@ptd.net to make a special request or to find out all that I have to offer and to express your comments or concerns. Here are the words to this Scottish song used in the TV series the Outlander. Sing me a song of a lass that is gone, Say, could that lass be I? Merry of soul she sailed on a day Over the sea to Skye. Billow and breeze, islands and seas, Mountains of rain and sun, All that was good, all that was fair, All that was me is gone. Sing me a song of a lass that is gone, Say, could that lass be I? Merry of soul she sailed on a day Over the sea to Skye.

Solo Guitar - Level 3 - SKU: A0.1316979 By The Candlelight Guitarist. By Charles Wesley, George Whitefield, Felix Mendelssohn, Traditional. Arranged by Bradley Powell. Christmas,Classical,Holiday,Religious,Traditional. Individual part. 5 pages. Geofonica Artistworks #904941. Published by Geofonica Artistworks (A0.1316979). This two-song arrangement of Hark! the Herald Angels Sing and O Come, All Ye Faithful is an excerpt from Christmas Suite 1225 (Part 1) - a new album by The Candlelight Guitarist (aka Bradley Powell). It features fingerstyle classical guitar, with a fresh chordal interpretation, moving bass and internal lines, and other distinctive stylistic features. These two songs together can be seen and heard in the Candlelight Guitarist YouTube video of Christmas Suite 1225 (Part 1) beginning at 3:53 (see YouTube timeline). The entire Christmas Suite 1225 is available for pruchase, including 14 traditional carols and one original piece.ABOUT: Brad Powell (aka The Candlelight Guitarist) began guitar at age ten, inspired by The Beatles. At 15, he became a protégé of jazz guitarist Joe Pass, and later studied classical guitar under Vincent Macaluso and Ronald Purcell, with a master class under Andrés Segovia. Brad was featured performing Gerald Wilson's Sonata for Guitar and Orchestra at the Hollywood Bowl. He was mentored in composition by David Rose (Little House on the Prairie), and has composed music Hill Street Blues and The 'A' Team, working with Mike Post. Brad has ten albums as The Candlelight Guitarist. When not making music, Brad is often hiking with his four dogs. Brad has also played solo guitar for Disney's Princess Breakfast Adventure at Disney's Grand Californian Resort, playing for Belle, Tiana, Jasmine, Rapunzel, Mulan, Aurora, Ariel, Pocahontas, and Cinderella!COMMENTS FROM LONG-ESTABLISHED REVIEWERS (for this and other Candlelight Guitarist recordings)...Dr. Beth - Amazon.com #1 Hall of Fame reviewerBrad has a knack for putting together gentle, soothing guitar medleys which provide the perfect background or relaxation soundtrack.Rebecca of Amazon - Amazon.com HALL OF FAME TOP 500 REVIEWERBradley Powell's flawless playing allows you to completely relax into sleep or relax into an evening of candlelight and romance. I've fallen into a peaceful sleep while listening to this music and have also spent relaxing afternoons reading while The Candlelight Guitarist wove an intricate tapestry of sounds to nurture my heart. ...  Bradley Powell's music is infused with natural ambience. As rich sounds renew your spirit, you can relax into a deep sigh of the heart. His style is artistic, heart healing and filled with romantic and cultural influences.Vicki Blizzard (Editor, PaperWorks and Crazy for Cross-Stitch! magazines) in CREATIVITY e-Letter: Music to filter into my dreams. Solo Guitar - SKU: A0.483404 Composed by Felix Bartholdy Mendelssohn. Arranged by Robert McCormack. Christmas,Classical,Holiday,Sacred,Traditional. Individual part. 1 pages. Published by Robert McCormak (A0.483404). The hymn that is this Christmas carol has gone through many iterations before popularly settling on this most commonly sung Mendelssohn melody. The arrangement is well within the intermediate level with the possible exception of the first two measures of the last two lines. There is a stretch here between fingers one and four, frets one and five with the additional challenge of a middle voice. Another carol offered by this arranger is, Once In Royal David's City, which has the same stretch but without the inner voice with which to contend. These two pieces are frequently performed together due to other similarities between them.

Guitar - Advanced - SKU: ZZ.DZ-4088 Composed by Louis Trépanier. Score. 9 pages. Les Productions d'OZ - Digital #DZ 4088. Published by Les Productions d'OZ - Digital (ZZ.DZ-4088). ISBN 9782898522055.August nights can be tinged with a bit of melancholy because the end of the summer approaches. The moon softly glows with nostalgia for a season passing us by. This mood seems to me folded into the Brazilian Bossa Nova, and the Brazilians? term ?saudade?; in this piece I offer up my tribute to one of my favourite composers, Radamés Gnattali (1906-1988), who wrote for every musical situation in his era in Brazil ? from the concert stage to the back alley, and everything in between. Lua para Epilogo de Verão, is dedicated to the Brazilian guitarist Fabio Zanon, who is both a great friend and a tremendous inspiration. This étude tackles solid chords and contrary motion in the left hand, and, like all the études in this collection, voice separation and phrasing. In measure 24 the guitarist must execute a diagonal barré, where the first finger covers position IV at the first string, and position V at the fifth string, hence the V/IV indication after the barré symbol. The practicalities of navigating through the different chord shapes and rhythms in the piece mean that not all notes can be held for their full, written value. Such discrepancies between the text and the playing are common in this style of music.

Individual part. 3 pages. Keith Terrett #5869485. Published by Keith Terrett (A0.747009). Arranged for solo Guitar, Tico-Tico no fubá (sparrow in the cornmeal, or, literally, rufous-collared sparrow in the cornmeal) is a Brazilian choro song written by Zequinha de Abreu in 1917. A great arrangement for your next performance, sure to be a big hit with your audience! Its original title was Tico-Tico no farelo (sparrow in the bran), but since Brazilian guitarist Américo Jacomino Canhoto (1889–1928) had a work with the same title, Abreu's work was given its present name in 1931, and sometime afterward Aloysio de Oliveira wrote the original Portuguese lyrics.Eros Volusia and her dancers dance to Tico-Tico in 1942 Rio Rita. Ethel Smith performed Tico-Tico onscreen in Bathing Beauty (1944). Carmen Miranda performed Tico-Tico onscreen in Copacabana (1947); It was also featured in the Aquarela do Brasil segment of the Walt Disney film Saludos Amigos (1942) and in Woody Allen's Radio Days (1987).In Quebec the song has been used for several decades in commercials for Sico paint. In season three of Mama's Family episode An Ill Wind, an intoxicated Iola briefly sings the song's chorus before passing out onto a bed. This song can be heard on various episodes of the Belgian Kabouter Wesley cartoon. In season one of Narcos: Mexico, episode 3 (El Padrino), the orchestral version of the song is played by a band during a reception. A biographical movie about Zequinha de Abreu with the same title, Tico-Tico no Fubá was produced in 1952 by the Brazilian film studio Companhia Cinematográfica Vera Cruz, starring Anselmo Duarte as Abreu. The title phrase also features in the lyrics to the song O Pato made famous by João Gilberto.Choro (Portuguese pronunciation: [ˈʃoɾu], cry or lament), also popularly called chorinho (little cry or little lament), is an instrumental Brazilian popular music genre which originated in 19th century Rio de Janeiro. Despite its name, the music often has a fast and happy rhythm. It is characterized by virtuosity, improvisation and subtle modulations, and is full of syncopation and counterpoint. Choro is considered the first characteristically Brazilian genre of urban popular music. The serenaders who play choros are known as chorões.

Guitar - Intermediate - SKU: ZY.DO-1522 Composed by Francis Bebey. Arranged by Ingrid Riollot. Score. 5 pages. Les Editions Doberman-Yppan (digital) #DO 1522. Published by Les Editions Doberman-Yppan (digital) (ZY.DO-1522). Son originalité continue de résonner dans le monde entier depuis son décès à la fin du mois de mai 2001.Francis Bebey was born in Douala in July 1929, into a large family where his father, a pastor, struggled to feed his children. But Francis had the opportunity to go to school. Admiring his elder brother, Marcel Eyidi Bebey, he educated himself, distinguished himself, and eventually received a scholarship to go and take his baccalaureate in France. We approached the end of the 1950s when he arrived in La Rochelle. More than ever, in this France where Africans were looked at with curiosity, condescension, or disdain, Francis relied on his intellectual resources. A diligent worker, he obtained his Baccalaureate, then moved to Paris where he started English studies at the Sorbonne. One day, he knew what truly attracted him: he wanted to do radio. Francis learned his craft in France and in the USA.After working for a few years as a reporter, he was hired in 1961 as an international civil servant in the UNESCO Information Department. In parallel, Francis had always been drawn to musical creation. His very serious daytime activity didnâ??t prevent him from frequenting jazz clubs in the evenings. In Paris, the Jazz, the trendy music of that time, but also rumba and salsa attracted him. He collected records and attended numerous concerts. With his accomplice Manu Dibango, Francis took the stage and played music.Francis liked classical music since his childhood. He grew up listening to the cantatas and oratorios of Bach or Handel that his father had sung in the temple. He became passionate about the guitar, impressed by the Spanish and South American masters, and decided to learn to strum the instrument himself. He started composing guitar pieces, blending the various influences that flow through him with the traditional African music he had carried within since childhood. His approach captivated the director of the American Cultural Center (then located in the Saint-Germain neighborhood of Paris), who offered him the opportunity to perform in front of an audience. Francis gave his first guitar recital there (1963) in front of a mesmerized audience. His first solo album was released shortly thereafter.Gradually, Francis became recognized as a musician and composer. Several albums of the African guitar ambassador, as described by the press, were released. He also wrote books, to the point that his artistic career became challenging to reconcile with his career as a civil servant. In 1974, even though he had become the General Manager in charge of music at UNESCO, he took the bold leap and resigned from this prestigious institution to dedicated himself to the three activities that interested him: music, literature, and journalism. He explored the traditional musical heritage of the African continent, notably through the thumb piano sanza, and the polyphonic music of the Central African pygmies, or singing in his native language and composing humoristic songs in French!Success followed. Francis Bebey traveled the world: from France to Brazil, Cameroon to Sweden, Germany to the Carribean, or Morocco to Japan... the list of countries where he was invited to perform, gives lectures, or meets readers is very long. In addition to public recognition, he enjoyed the recognition of his fellow musicians, such as guitarist John Williams or Venezuelan Antonio Lauro, who invited him to be a part of the jury for a classical guitar competition in Caracas. His life was the journey of an African pioneer, a man rooted in his cultural heritage and carrying a message of sharing and hope for the world. His originality continues to vibrate around the world since his passing at the end of May 2001.

Creative imagination manifests itself in the “Little lead soldiers’ waltzâ€, who turn rifles into pairs to dance with. From the hill where he lives, the boy contemplates the city crowned by “The immersing cathedralâ€, which was once a spiritual fortress and now the bells echo its inexorable decline, diluting into the surrounding criminal urbanism. The “March of the astonished ant†is about the adventures of an ant who wanders off the path and meets a playful child who likes to put so many obstacles in her way that she is astonished; however, she doesn’t give up her endeavour, takes a deep breath, gains courage and, although exhausted, manages to free herself. The complexes that organise the work are [5, 5, 5, 8] and [9, 7].The original version is for piano. Published by Maggie Creek Music (A0.899126). 4 pages; for solo classical guitar; based on a theme from the Mass in C Minor; published by Maggie Creek MusicWolfgang Amadeus Mozart 1756 -1791 Mozart, whom his sister recounted as picking out thirds on the family clavier at the age of three for the pleasure of it, has been described as achieving miracles of sound across every emotion. Indeed one runs out of superlatives trying to do justice to the quality and originality of his compositions and the abundance of output. Anyone learning about his relatively short life must also pay tribute to his resolve and courage. I've noticed during my time in bands that the music I like sparks creativity, and the lovely theme from the Kyrie of the Mass in C minor spawned a lot of ideas once I'd decided to write something for guitar using it. Mozart's harmonies seem both exclusive and perfect, and I can't imagine my musical life without them. I got to know the Mass when I looked after Nigel's place while he was away, as it was in his record collection. My good friend died (of bone cancer) not long after that, and the Fantasy is a homage to him.

Guitar - Level 2 - SKU: A0.1168489 Composed by Stephen Foster. Arranged by Brian Streckfus. Country,Folk,Instructional,Pop,Singer/Songwriter. Chords/Lyrics. 1 pages. Brian Streckfus #768792. Published by Brian Streckfus (A0.1168489). If you are looking for a historically accurate version, I would just get Hal Leonard's publications of it. This version really sprinkles some razzle dazzle on an otherwise straightforward public domain song in G major, though it does not use the exact original melody.1. The original melody is NOT intact, this is ghostwritten. Notes were flatted to give a bluesier sound.  2. The chords are very modern, despite this song being written in the mid 1850s. 3. Grace notes added 4. Background harmonies now have more thought put into part writing, originality, being idiomatic on guitar, and making the melody the forefront. 5. Left hand fingerings added to aid in sight-reading.6. Letter names added to note heads to aid in sight-reading.7. I like versions like this because it could be used for a guitarist who doesn't sing, a guitarist who does sing, or a guitarist in a band. In otherwords, the more band members, the more you are just focusing on background chords, the more you are a one-person band, the more you have to take everything in. Tips:1. I arranged this so that students could see how blues scales work as I drenched this song in more blues than it originally had (Bb - B...F - F#...E minor blues and G major blues respectively.) You'll notice I don't stay on these dissonant blues notes for very long, that's why there's so many grace notes in this song.2. The D9 in measure 6 was originally a D7. Some extensions like this don't really change the scale in use.3. The Ab7 in measure 7 was originally a D7, making the Ab7 a tritone substitution. If you know the key of G major well, that chord should stick out like a sore thumb. 4. The Bb7 in measure 14 was originally a G7. I call these kind of substituitions mediant substitutions as they are similiar to jazz tritone substitions, but at a 3rd instead of a tritone.5. The Cm(maj7) was originally a C major chord. This is a modal borrowing composition technique of borrowing from the parrallel minor, in this case, G minor.

Guitar - SKU: A0.1070387 Composed by Apostolos Paraskevas. 20th Century,Romantic Period,World. Full Performance. Duration 203. Silver Sickle Publications #6102999. Published by Silver Sickle Publications (A0.1070387). Mountains of Stowe, 2015 is a two-movement piece commissioned by and dedicated to guitarist Adam Holzman. The first movement I Stand Strong reflects the serenity and isolation someone might feel when surrounded by the mountains of Stowe, Vermont in the U.S.A. The second movement …and the Sky is the Limit written in an ABA cyclic form is full of rhythmic gestures starting with the combination of 7/8, 2/4, 5/8 and 3/4 in the first four measures that leads to a slow movement as an attempt to sing a Greek song in those vast territories and to portray the thankfulness of being there and experience the presence of the amazing beauty of it. When asked why he commissioned this piece, Holzman replied, My wife and I spend our summers in Stowe. We love being there, celebrate the summer and spend time outside. We have family and friends who come and share a few days with us and Apostolos is a dear friend who has been coming for several years. We talked about the possibility of him writing a piece that reflected Stowe and the mountains. When asked about the piece, Paraskevas responded, I always write music for the person behind the instrument, so while composing every note of this piece I had Adam in my mind; the way he plays, the way he breathes the way he lives his life. The work is written for the mountains of Stowe through Adam’s eyes and heart and I am the vehicle who translates it.

Solo Guitar - Level 3 - SKU: A0.1348275 By B.J. Thomas. By Burt Bacharach and Hal David. Arranged by Christopher J. Malin. 20th Century,Film/TV,Pop,Standards. Individual part. 1 pages. Christopher J. Malin #933060. Published by Christopher J. Malin (A0.1348275). Solo jazz guitar chord/melody arrangement with tablature. Seldom heard standard in this style. Beautiful, instantly recognizable cheerful melody. One of Burt Bacharach's many fine pieces. This piece makes you stand out as a solo jazz guitarist of all idioms. Some chords are played as triads or dyads or eliminated, and single notes are used. I draw a line over the note if it's the high note of a chord or I use a dot if it's played as a single note, the chord is then in parentheses. I tend to use a minimalist style that keeps the important parts of the music. Sounds great on acoustic and electric guitars.I tend to play the triad chords using a little hand vibrato, makes them sing a bit. I also slide up to the single notes at times. The tag at the end, is a nice jam in itself if playing with another guitar or bass, if solo I play it 4 times. Listeners will love this tune! Hope you will too.

Solo Guitar - Level 5 - SKU: A0.1021517 Composed by Victor Rebullida. 20th Century,Concert,Contemporary. Individual part. 14 pages. Victor Rebullida #6055667. Published by Victor Rebullida (A0.1021517). Recorded by Alberto Royo in CD Mistúra. Música para guitarra. Cuatro autores contemporáneos aragoneses. Edited by Delicias Discográficas 2001. Reference DCD-28. More information about the CD: alberto.guitarra@gmail.comGioco is a five part piece: Allegro leggiero; tpo. giusto Triste e intenso; poco rubato Scherzando Adagio meditativo Allegro agitato The author wrote:Gioco, an Italian word meaning game, is the title of this guitar work composed in 1994.Gioco is a work of current aesthetic, atonal, built however on a structure as classic as that of a Sonata, of great conciseness and clarity and brief duration. It consists of five movements in which the former has a simple, school sonata shape, with two well-identifiable themes, one ethereal based on sets of bells and harmonics and another choppy, contrasting, in parallel ninth intervals, which are developed and subsequently reexposed at the end of the movement. The second movement is a slow time when the resonance of arpeggiated sounds is important. As will happen in the fourth half, the music conveys a sense of freedom, almost improvisation resulting from its unsympted writing and the irregularity of the measure. The third is a Scherzo in which humorous character is accentuated by the rapid descending and ascending glissandi. No less grotesque is the contrasting quote of Gaspar Sanz's Spaniard played in a singular way as will be seen in the interpretation, suddenly interrupted by the glissandi. The fourth is another slow movement in which resonances are also the center. Here you resort to obtaining a particular, harmonic sound similar to the sound of a gong, by placing paper clip on the three boards of the guitar. The fifth and final time is live movement in the form of a purr in which the different episodes are quotes from the themes appeared in the previous movements. The player says about this work: Work dated in 1994, virtuoso and contrasting, of resounding accessibility, not intending to reach the audience using easy resources but an admirable capacity for communication, Gioco is divided into five movements in which varied colours and textures occur and almost all the abundant classical and contemporary timbric resources of the guitar are exploited with intelligence, (controlled challenges, blows on the board, metallic vibration of a clip...), In this work one of the outstanding findings of its author is the alternative use in the Scherzando of his contemporary language and two recognizable literal quotations of the Aragonese Baroque guitarist Gaspar Sanz, which appear softly in an ironic and evocative loudness. Justino Losada wrote this review:Gioco, represents a continuous game of sonorities of very rich timbric nuances as well as an exacerbated game of frets (such as in its 3rd movement Scherzando), and abundant contemporary resources such as the microtonal vicinity of the detuned passages or the blows on the box for our interpreter to show of his skills, a task that although complicated he knows how to perform perfectly coming out of all difficulties. Rebullida's language is not simple, but the composer is clearly aware of the difficulties to reach a large audience, and to do so he polishes his language by seeking an exchange between modern and ancient sonorities in a continuous game creating a climate of warm and direct communication. Guitar, Acoustic Guitar, Flamenco Guitar, Solo Guitar - Advanced - Arranged by Brian Hayes. Score, Sheet Music Single. 9 pages. Published by Brian Hayes
This is a flamenco guitar arrangement of Malaguea, a pianopiece written by Cuban pianist/composer Ernesto Lecuona. It was originallyadapted for solo Spanish/Flamenco guitar by Carlos Montoya in 1961 and is widely believed to have been originallywritten for the guitar. The fact that Lecuona wrote the piece in thestyle of Spain is likely what makes the Spanish guitar arrangement feel like itbelongs to the instrument. Anotherreason for its association with Spanish guitar is the fact that the main melodyfrom the piece was not Lecuona?s invention but was taken from the ?Malaguea? flamencoform, originating out of Mlaga, Spain, in the 19th century. ?Malaguea,? andthe melodic lines associated with it, is one of the traditional styles of Flamenco/Andalusianmusic. This rendition is ?in the style of Sabicas,? a Spanish Gypsy guitaristwho is considered by many to be one of the finest flamenco solo guitarists of his time. Lecuona?sMalaguea is typically found as a solo piano piece in the key of C# Phrygian, whereas on the guitar, (as is the case with this arrangement) it isnormally arranged in E Phrygian.
