The versions are otherwise identical. Published by ralph scott carrier (A0.924177). The beloved Away in a Manger, known to children from two years of age and up. In the key of D (major,) a simple and well known melody. Note: Although I do consider this a simple little song, any thought that this is an unusually easy guitar arrangement would be a mistake. This is, in fact, a rather challenging arrangement, especially the way I have tabbed it. Measures 6 - 9 are particularly difficult. If you can find an easier way to finger it, more power to you. Some contradictory information has been found regarding the attribution of the opus. Some have suggested it was from Martin Luther (himself,) but others have said it was written for his 400th anniversary. But the hymn book I found it in (to copy the lyrics) attributes it to a James R. Murray, so I have also given him credit. It was first published in 1884, in any event.

The first movement I Stand Strong reflects the serenity and isolation someone might feel when surrounded by the mountains of Stowe, Vermont in the U.S.A. The second movement …and the Sky is the Limit written in an ABA cyclic form is full of rhythmic gestures starting with the combination of 7/8, 2/4, 5/8 and 3/4 in the first four measures that leads to a slow movement as an attempt to sing a Greek song in those vast territories and to portray the thankfulness of being there and experience the presence of the amazing beauty of it. When asked why he commissioned this piece, Holzman replied, My wife and I spend our summers in Stowe. We love being there, celebrate the summer and spend time outside. We have family and friends who come and share a few days with us and Apostolos is a dear friend who has been coming for several years. We talked about the possibility of him writing a piece that reflected Stowe and the mountains. When asked about the piece, Paraskevas responded, I always write music for the person behind the instrument, so while composing every note of this piece I had Adam in my mind; the way he plays, the way he breathes the way he lives his life. Descriptive Pieces for guitar solo are snippets of ongoing efforts to create new guitar music. It is a representation of a search for sounds - things the guitar can do that I love and enjoy. These pieces are representative of attempts to create interesting sounding music compositions that are effective in evoking certain feelings or moods. These are older pieces recently reformulated and edited, and still sound fresh and new to my ears, so I like them and I hope you will too. I have tried to include all fingerings and indications to make them clearer for the performer. Ideally, there should not be anything too challenging in these pieces as it is all attempting to be idiomatic for the guitar - that is the goal, anyway! - SN 2019

Released in the summer of 2016, Keith Gehle’s 5th full length commercial recording (Space and Time) is a sincere, heartfelt journey of healing through instrumental sounds and compositions. The album features 11 tracks of steel and nylon string guitars with accompanying piano, cello, flute, oboe, strings and synth pad sounds. Keith wrote the music and produced the recordings over several years after the unexpected death of his brother Ken in January of 2010. The process of grieving an unimaginable loss coupled with writing and recording music as a tribute to his late brother was extremely difficult and at times painful. The resulting work is honest, pure, and for Keith, a healing endeavor. This folio contains seven pieces from the album that work well as guitar solos and include detailed fingerings and interpretation. There's also a version with TAB available on this site. Published by Aleksander Wilgos (A0.905205). Here is my transcription of Bach's Chorale Prelude BWV 639. The title Ich ruf zu Dir, Herr Jesu Christ means: I call to You, Lord Jesus Christ and is famous for it's simplicity and profoundness. Prelude is composed for organ and it's original tonality in F minor. I transposed it to more guitar friendly tonality D minor.I loved the way Paweł Pawlikowski used the piece in the last scene of his Oscar winning movie Ida, so I took the liberty to transcribe it. It is quite demanding but totally worth an effort. The music is beautiful!
