This beginner piece is an excellent choice for a final concert for your first year band. Each section has a soli and will give the listener the opportunity to hear each part of the band play individually. The march-like tempo and style incorporates the first 6 notes of the Bb major scale while keeping simple rhythmic patterns of quarter notes, half notes and whole notes for the wind instruments. The snare drum has sixteenth notes in combination with eighth notes while the bass drum and tambourine have mostly quarter notes and half notes. Two and four bar phrases are used to create a leisurely stroll while Walking to the Park.

I composed and dedicated this piece to my 2022-2023 students of the band program at the Melaleuca Elementary School (FL). The work was premiered in May 2023.I composed this piece using a 5 music notes scale (F to Low Bb), simple rhythmic combinations, an ABA form, unisons, and duet textures. The Score has written a Drum Set part, but I had two students playing the music (one student for the snare, the other for the bass drum). This piece will suit your beginner concert band if you are a band teacher who wants to present a concert with music other than the exercises from the band method. Grade: 0.5.

But I also had a number of players who could move faster and play more challenging rhythms and notes than others. What to do? How about a simple arrangement with flexible part assignments?JINGLE THOSE BELLS! is a super-easy setting of Jingle Bells. The work opens with the traditional unison rendition of the melody, as found in almost every beginner band method book ever written. But then, after a brief pause, the melody is repeated, but now faster and with the addition of a bass line and rhythmic accompaniment. The rhythmic accompaniment is provided by several of your best clarinet, sax, and trumpet players who play the Advanced Part. And if you are short on bass voice instruments, you can utilize the optional bass parts for Alto Sax. Super flexible and a bit humorous, it takes a little score study to realize how adaptable this piece is. Guaranteed to work with your beginners! The title was inspired by Romans 8:37, No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.It is my hope that UNCONQUERABLE will provide students with a song that they will enjoy learning to play, and provide other music educators with a teaching tool that can be used to motivate and encourage their students.UNCONQUERABLE is dedicated to all of my former music students in the Madison County Florida School System, who I had the privilege of teaching from 1974-2016.

Published by HMS Music (A0.1435814). ___________________________With a nice minor mode sound and a propelling timpani line, TIDINGS OF JOY opens with God Rest Ye, Merry, harmonized in drone fashion, then features a soli middle section of Pat-a-Pan for which you audition the players who get to play this more difficult middle section (keeps your best players challenged!) while the rest of the band vocalize a single pitch on ahh. The piece then recaps with God Rest You Merry with a slightly fuller instrumentation and a simple flute obligato line.FEATURES: Melody opportunities for all wind parts; Multiple percussion parts give colorful sound; timpani provide bass ostinato; Students sing ahh on a single note - great for improving intonation!; Soli section in middle will motivate players to learn the part so they get to play the melody (keeps your better players challenged); Low brass parts are very simple.RANGES: C minor (3 flats). Some Clarinets play low G and F (m. 14 and 48) - put your best players on these low notes and have rest play the comfortable notes of D and C.CHALLENGES: Appropriate for young players who have encountered eighth-notes and the key of E-flat; Independence of lines (melody played with/against simple bass and accompaniment; simple flute obligato line in last section); Some slurs and eighth-notes; Key/few accidentals (mostly in flutes, oboe, clarinet, and trumpet); A few extended range notes for some parts.INSTRUMENTATION: includes Full Conductor Score (8 pages) and PARTS (16 pages): one each for Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Tenor Saxophone, Baritone Saxophone, Trumpet, Horn in F, Trombone/Euphonium/Bassoon, T.C. It is a beloved lake of Madison County that gives beautiful sights and unique activities for all ages. The name stems from the presence of wild cherry trees near the water's edge, according to Allen Morris' book of place names.It is my hope that Cherry Lake March will provide students with a song that they will enjoy learning to play, and provide other music educators with a teaching tool that can be used to motivate and encourage their students.Cherry Lake March is dedicated to all of my former music students in the Madison County Florida School System, who I had the privilege of teaching from 1974-2016.

The song tells the story of a group of whalers who are waiting for a supply ship called the Wellerman to arrive and bring them provisions, including sugar, tea, and rum. The crew is eagerly anticipating the arrival of the Wellerman and they sing the song to keep their spirits up while they work. The song has gained renewed popularity in recent years through social media, with many people creating their own versions and adaptations. This version by Scaver of The Wellerman is arranged for normal concert band and can also be performed by young concert band due to the easy parts for a lot of instruments. In addition to being performed by concert band, this arrangement can also be performed with children using boomwhackers and/or recorders.
