One of our favorite songs that he sang was TheFar North Land. Several years ago, my sister recorded our father singing this song for use on the soundtrack of one of hermovies. Years later I transcribed the song from that recording and used it as the foundation for this piece. My aunts tell methey recall my father singing this song when he was a boy growing up in Minnesota, and that they referred to it as Fletch'ssong. It was only while working on this piece that I discovered that Duncan, Clear Water and Bear Skin are actual lakes inthe border lakes region where Minnesota meets Canada.The original arrangement, for string quartet, was premiered by the OdeonQuartet on October 21, 2003, at Seattle's TownHall.

Published by John Ivor Holland (A0.1420211). On two occasions, Felix Mendelssohn composed music for William Shakespeare's play 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'. First in 1826, near the start of his career, he wrote a concert overture (Op. 21). Later, in 1842, five years before his death, he wrote incidental music (Op. 61) for a production of the play, which is where this lovely movement is found. Leading with horn and bassoon trio, this would provide a moment of tranquility in any programme, particularly in a concert of opera/ballet music or perhaps one of film music, as this has been used in several movie soundtracks.

I'm Every Woman is a song by American singer Chaka Khan, released as her debut solo single from her first album, Chaka (1978), written by the successful songwriting team Valerie Simpson and Nickolas Ashford - it reached number 21 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 11 in the UK. Whitney Houston covered the song in 1992 (recorded for 'The Bodyguard' soundtrack); it was a major hit, peaking at number 4 in the US and UK. A music video was produced for Khan's version of I'm Every Woman at a time when the value of promotional films was increasing; the video, which features five dancing Chakas dressed in various outfits to represent every woman, was made a few years before the onset of mainstream coverage of music promos through such outlets as MTV, VH1, and BET. Originally released as a digital download on iTunes on June 17, 2013, Animals quickly gained popularity within the electronic dance music (EDM) culture, propelling Martin Garrix to become the youngest producer to ever have a song reach number one on Beatport, a prominent electronic music store.The track's infectious beats and energetic melodies captivated listeners, leading it to achieve remarkable success on various music charts. It climbed into the top ten and secured the number one spot on numerous electronic music charts, as well as some mainstream ones. Notably, Animals topped the singles charts in the United Kingdom, French-speaking Switzerland, and Belgium. In the United States, it reached number 21 on the Billboard Hot 100 and claimed the number one position on the Dance chart.Before its official release, Animals generated significant buzz as it was played anonymously, causing speculation to grow about the artist behind the track. Dutch record label Spinnin' Records fueled the anticipation by sharing a teaser clip of the song online, titled Animals (Teaser). This led to increased speculation, with a Vine video featuring Agnes from the animated film Despicable Me further stoking curiosity.
