This piece, envisioned around Grade 4 to 4.5 (or an advanced 3.5), is a journey through the musical tradition and history of southern Portugal. This work can be well suited for a multicultural themed concert, or just as a short out-of-the-box piece to introduce new music styles from abroad. Also, by only using Bass Drum (or a muffled Floor Tom), Snare Drum, Triangle and Timpani, it doesn't require a wide range of percussion, which can be a plus for lower budget bands to still be able to perform.

It is one of the few progressive rock songs of the 1970s to have proved accessible to a mainstream audience. In 2004, the song was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. Early on in the musical Sweet Charity, the lead character is taken to an exclusive nightclub and this sets the scene for the company to introduce Bob Fosse's choreographic showpiece The Rich Man's Frug (the melody of which is drawn from the song Big Spender). It's a wildly energetic dance number comprising three movements (The Aloof, The Heavyweight and The Big Finish) accentuating Fosse's creative use of unusual poses, gestures, and arm movements. This arrangement draws from the original Broadway and movie scores, presenting as full a version as possible, including the chorus singing towards the end - don't scimp on the percussion, particularly the anvil, as this will certainly conjure up the true spirit of the piece - groovy!

Countess Maria Theodora Paulina Dora Pejačević (10 September 1885 – 5 March 1923) was a Croatian composer, pianist and violinist and one of the first composers to introduce the orchestral song to Croatian music. Her Symphony in F-sharp minor is considered by scholars to be the first modern symphony in Croatian music. Pejačević is noted for her vocal compositions, piano miniatures, and string quartets, which were heavily influenced by the expressionist and modernist trends of the time. In her early career, Pejačević’s primary themes were highly representative of the Romantic period, but this would change after her experience working as a paramedic in the First World War after which her works reflected the philosophic movement of nihilism and discussed motifs of death, isolation, and futility of war. This wonderful 'Elegie', originally composed for violin and piano, dates from 1913, just before the outbreak of war and is dedicated to Johannes Nádherny-Borutin, an important Czech politician. This arrangement has been made as part of an ongoing project to bring more music by women composers into the worldwide concert band repertoire.

Far to the westernmost regions of Russia, and then farther still, there is a place known as theDancing Forest of Kaliningrad. It is a mysterious, otherworldly place where trees grow in tangles,knots, and other unfathomable shapes, a place described by local psychics as a point of conflict where great positive and negative forces collide. Due to its remarkable air of mystery, the forest has woven its way into the legends and folklore of the region. My personal favorite legend about it goes as follows: The Prussian prince Barty used to hunt in these forests. Chasing a Roe deer one day, heheard a wonderful tune, and as he came to a field, he saw a beautiful girl playing a lyre. She was a Christian and her name was Predislava. The prince proposed to her but she replied that she would marry only a man of her faith. Prince Barty agreed to become a Christian as long as she could prove the power of her invisible God was more powerful than the surrounding trees. Predislava played her lyre. Birds grew silent, and the trees started dancing. The prince then took a bracelet from his hand and gave it to her as a token of their betrothal. On this very spot, many years later, there grew the Dancing Forest.This piece is my homage to the Dancing Forest of Kaliningrad and all its associated legends. Premiered by the Santa Teresa High School Concert Band in May 2019, the work is scored for a concert band of intermediate size and skill level and is designed to help introduce high school musicians to modal music and unconventional key signatures. Furthermore, the piece is inspired by multiple rhythmic and harmonic elements of rock and folk music in an attempt to help bridge the gap between popular music and contemporary wind ensemble repertoire. This intermediate concert band piece, written in ¾ time, has a march like feel that is festive. It is the perfect piece to open a spring concert. The clarinet section plays over the bridge and the snare drum has multiple rolls. Trumpets play a large range going from low B to high D. Several mini themes are grouped by instrumentation with the main theme returning at the end. Specific articulation has been included along with trills in the upper woodwinds to provide a characteristic celebration to mark the end of winter and introduce spring.

Composed by Murray Gold and orchestrated by Ben Foster, the title 'All The Strange, Strange Creatures', is a quote from Love Don't Roam, a song composed for the 2006 Christmas special 'The Runaway Bride'. The track can sometimes be heard at football matches to ramp up the atmosphere. East Texas, A Bear Hunt, the third of five movements from A Texas Symphony, is a musical illustration of an actual two day bear hunt that took place in 1906 in the Big Thicket. The hunting party consisted of 10 hunters led by Texas Legendary Hunters, Ben Lilly and Bud Hooks, and 8 hunting hounds. The music opens with a joyful fiddle theme representing nighttime around the campfire. As the night falls, the music quietens and percussion instruments (cabasa and woodblock) introduce crickets, woodpeckers and nighttime sounds. A rainstick and plucked strings bring the nighttime rain. With the morning, ascending strings herald the sunrise, with solo woodwinds bringing birdsong. The hunt theme is introduced by the brass. The bear theme is played by the bassoon, who is surrounded by bees, played by dissonant strings. As the hunt begins, the bear becomes alarmed, then the chase ensues. The high point of the chase arrives with an orchestra hit. The piece concludes with a triumphant return to the campsite. This fun piece is enjoyed by musicians and audiences for the fun melodies and unusual percussion sounds, length approx 12 minutes..
