Themes from the Beach is a multi movement composition released in 2017 that captures wonderful scenes while hanging out on the Beach. The First Movement, Atmospheres, is a beautiful tranquil setting in the key of C major while the beauty portrays the humidity. The Second Movement, is a dance like movement of the scene while people are strolling in Paradise. The Key signature contrast is from D minor to D major and then to D minor once again. The last two movements are in the Key of F major. The third movement displays of what it is like to chill out in the sunlight. This deeply moving ballad is so beautiful and will portray the longest movement of the piece. The last and fourth movement is a 6/8 Dance of getting yourself exposed to the sunlight.This is a separate part scored for 3rd Trumpet in B flat (Score Sold Separately). 5 pages long and is Scored in 4 movements, 1 - Atmospheres , 2 - Strolling in Paradise, 3 - Chillin Ballad, 4 - Exposed to the sunlight. Each different part will need separate purchases.

In the mid 1960's, I performed the 3rd movement of my piano sonata at a school assembly, at the time a member of the high school band. Decades later, I have arranged this piece for concert band, so that a high school band, such as I was then in, can perform it. It's a lively, martial piece, just over 3 minutes long.

La donna è mobile, the famous showcase for tenors is the Duke of Mantova's canzone from the beginning of the third act of Giuseppe Verdi's opera Rigoletto, which premiered in 1851. The arrangement is kept in the original key of the composition for symphony orchestra and was commissioned and first time performed by Mozarteum Wind Philharmonic Salzburg conducted by Hansjoerg Angerer at their Three Kings' Concert on 6 January 2017 at the Grosses Festspielhaus (Large Festival Hall) in Salzburg, Austria. This piece features 4 movements, and tells a story throughout. It starts with a slow moving part with the flute section taking the melody as well as a flute solo. It then moves to a fast and exciting movement, but eventually levels out. In the same movement, there is a low section where the melody layers on top of other lines. The 2nd movement then ends with a percussion break. The 3rd Movement has a Latin feel to it and starts with percussion, where they set up a consistent groove. Then we build to eventually the melody and trade it between altos, and the flutes, and oboe. Then the melody repeats trading between trumpets and clarinets. Throughout this, the low instruments set up a consistent rhythm while moving through the changes. Then the 3rd movement comes to an end. The last and final movement features a clarinet solo to start it off, which gives a nod to Rhapsody in Blue. It closes off with an alto solo to end it. The piece changes keys from Eb-Bb-Db-Eb.

I originally wrote a Brass Band version of this work to be performed by the Freedom Brass Band of Northeast Ohio in the summer of 2011 knowing that I wanted it to be connected to a well-known patriotic text. It quickly became my most popular work and I decided to arrange it for Concert Band in 2018. Because it was adapted from a Brass Band setting, some of the instrument ranges are more advanced, but can still work for an advanced high school or college band.From a young age I found inspiration in Abraham Lincoln's Gettysburg Address. As a Boy Scout, I had read it at an annual service on Memorial Day. I had also studied it in school and even heard it spoken by a Lincoln impersonator. The words from this address speak to the ideals of human equality and freedom, and honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice to protect those ideals. Lincoln refers to this sacrifice as the last full measure of devotion and it is to those men and women who so bravely sacrificed that I dedicate this work. Magic Bullets are never-failing bullets gained by a pact with the devil. The arrangement is kept in the original key of the composition for symphony orchestra and was commissioned and first time performed by Mozarteum Wind Philharmonic Salzburg conducted by Hansjoerg Angerer at their Three Kings' Concert on 6 January 2018 in the Grosses Festspielhaus (Large Festival Hall) in Salzburg, Austria and broadcasted live by Austrian television.
