Gato de callejón es mi primera pieza para big band. Fue presentada al primer concurso de composición para bandas estudiantiles CORFOBAE durante el 2022, resultando en un cuarto lugar.Esta obra tiene por referencia las sonoridades de swing usadas en varias bandas sonoras de series clásicas (como lo es Don Gato y su pandilla), y por lo tanto, ampliamente extendido en el inconsciente colectivo. El crear una obra en este estilo responde a la necesidad de formentar la creación en este tipo de lenguajes, y en particular, en big band. Fue la primera vez que usé voicings cerrados en toda regla. Se usan armónicamente un par de vueltas relativamente sencillas. En este caso, me excedà con los grados de dificultad para el concurso (3-4), y me quedó una obra que está más cerca del grado 5 en la escala de música instrumental de Hal Leonard. Gato de Callejón is my first big band piece. It was presented to the first CORFO BAE composition contest for student bands during 2022, resulting on a 4th place.This piece has as reference the swing sonorities used on several OST's of classical series (as Top Cat), and because of that, widely extended on the colective inconscient. Creating a work on this style responds to the necessity of fomenting the musical creation on this kind of languages, and in particular, on big band. This was my first time using closed voicings on rule. There's harmonicly a pair of relatively simple turnarounds.In this case, I exceeded the difficulty grades of the contest (3-4), and I had a work mostly near to the grade 5 on Hal Leonard's Instrumental Music Scale.

Duration : 4:50. 32 pages score. 83 pages of parts. Erik Satie, was a French composer and pianist born in Honfleur on May 17, 1866 and died in Paris on July 1st, 1925. Associated for a time with symbolism, but unclassifiable, it was recognized as a precursor of several movements, including neoclassicism, surrealism, minimalism and repetitive music Je te veux is a song by Erik Satie for the music, and Henry Pacory for the lyrics. This sentimental slow waltz was created at La Scala, in Paris, in 1903, for the singer Paulette Darty, for whom Erik Satie was for a time the accompanist. The song was recorded in 1925 by Yvonne George. Giacommo Puccini, represents the union of Italian and German opera traditions, greatly influenced by Verdi, of whom he is considered his successor, and also by Wagner, Bizet, and Debussy. The main feature of his style was the eclecticism, the incorporation and assimilation of various languages and resources in his profession. Many of the musical concepts, as well as the connection between music and the stage, were the harbinger of what would rule in film music a few decades later. Puccini tooks from the French opera, under the influence of Bizet and Massenet, the taste for the exotic and historical location of his operas. In the case of Turandot, set in ancient China, the opera tells the story of the cruel princess Turandot who, in revenge for a sullied ancestor, beheads her suitors if three riddles are not answered. An unknown prince –Calaf– postulates by answering her three enigmas and challenging her to be the one to find out her name. Turandot orders that no one sleep in Peking until the name of the prince is known, Calaf, who has issued the challenge that if his name is not discovered, princess Turandot must marry him. At the beginning of the third act, the prince sings the aria –Nessun Dorma– convinced that the princess's efforts to discover his name will be in vain. Puccini began the composition in January 1921 and in March 1924 he had already completed the opera up to the final duet. However, a few months later he would pass away, leaving unfinished sketches of the end of Turandot. Franco Alfano was commissioned to finish it, premiering it two years later, in 1926. Currently, it is the fourth most performed Puccini opera worldwide, after the well-known trio La Boheme, Tosca and Madama Butterfly.
