Winterstürme (Winter Storms) is a waltz in Viennese style by Austrian military bandmaster Julius Fučík, who is much more known as an Austrian-Bohemian king of marches. But he composed all kind of that fine dance music for orchestra of his time and completed more than 400 pieces. The arrangement is kept in the original key of the composition for symphony orchestra and was commissioned and first time performed by Mozarteum Wind Philharmonic Salzburg conducted by Hansjoerg Angerer at their Three Kings' Concert on 6 January 2019 in the Grosses Festspielhaus (Large Festival Hall) in Salzburg, Austria and broadcasted live by Austrian television. His first career steps contained several positions as military band conductor in the Austrian-Hungarian army, so he also led the band of the infantry regiment no. 25 located in Lucenec in today's Slovakia, where this march arose. The subtitle Humorous March was possibly chosen to indicate, that it was not intended to be a military march. The arrangement is kept in the original key of the composition for symphony orchestra. Published by Edition Schwalbe (A0.1021849). Julius FuÄÃk (1872 - 1916) was a famous Austrian-Hungarian military bandmaster, who composed more than 400 pieces during his short lifetime. First of all he was known as a king of marches: His Florentiner March and Entry of the Gladiators had worldwide success, but also some of his overtures and waltzes became very popular. His concert march Under the Admiral's Flag was composed in 1911and had its first performance, when the Austrian-Hungarian battleship Viribus unitis premiered its launching in the former Austrian military habour of Pula in Istria. This arrangement keeps the key of the symphony orchestra version, while most band arrangements transpose a whole tone lower. This transcription was commissioned by Wind Philharmonic Mozarteum Salzburg and first performed conducted by Hansjoerg Angerer at their 2014 New Year's Concert on January 6th in Salzburg, Austria. Published by Edition Schwalbe (A0.1497141). Karel Komzák jr. was born in Prague, studied there violin and became a very successful conductor in the Austrian Empire. From 1883 he was bandmaster of the Imperial and Royal Infantry Regiment No. 84 in Vienna, the orchestra which was awarded the title of the best military band in the world at the World Exhibition in Paris in 1889. Komzák even conducted his Baden spa orchestra at the World Exhibition in Chicago 1904. His Folk Opera Edelweiss premiered in 1892 in Salzburg. The arrangement is one half tone higher than the original key of the composition for symphony orchestra and was commissioned and first time performed by Mozarteum Wind Philharmonic Salzburg conducted by Hansjoerg Angerer at their Three Kings' Concert on 6 January 2018 in the Grosses Festspielhaus (Large Festival Hall) in Salzburg, Austria and broadcasted live by Austrian television. It was a relaunch of an operetta two years before, which had no success. Also this operetta did not reach a performance in the capital Vienna, but its overture became worldwide known. The arrangement is one half tone higher than the original key of the composition for symphony orchestra and was commissioned and first time performed by Mozarteum Wind Philharmonic Salzburg conducted by Hansjoerg Angerer at their Three Kings' Concert on 6 January 2015 in the Grosses Festspielhaus (Large Festival Hall) in Salzburg, Austria, repeated on 6 January 2019 at the same event and broadcasted live by Austrian television. (Life Is Worth Living, My Friends) is an aria from Giuditta, the last operetta by Austrian-Hungarian composer Franz (Ferenc) Lehár, first performed on 20th January 1934 at Vienna State Opera in Austria. It's the first performance aria of Octavio, a part for a powerfol tenor singer. The large orchestral score is not easy to balance with the tenor part, perhaps even more tricky with wind orchestra. The arrangement is kept in the original key of the composition for symphony orchestra. Published by Edition Schwalbe (A0.1021839). Dominik Ertl was a regiment drum major with the Austrian Infantry Regiment No. 4. He also worked as an operetta conductor in Dresden, toured Germany as a violin concertist, was conductor in Danzer's Orpheum in Vienna in 1889 and concert conductor in Riga around 1893. Anton Bruckner is said to have been one of his teachers. Numerous compositions, piano reductions, dances, waltzes, polkas, marches and around 200 couplets, marches and Viennese songs have been preserved from his hand. His best-known composition is the Hoch- und Deutschmeister-March from 1880, which is still one of the great traditional Austrian marches today.

It reached number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks in March 1962. The song features a prominent riff from well-known harmonica player Delbert McClinton; while touring the UK in 1962 with the Beatles, McClinton gave John Lennon some harmonica tips; Lennon put the lessons to use right away on Love Me Do and later Please Please Me. Lennon included Hey! Baby in his jukebox and a version of the song was recorded by Ringo Starr in 1976. Hey! Baby! was used in the 1987 hit film 'Dirty Dancing' in the scene in which Johnny and Baby dance on top of a log; a dance remix in early 2000 by Austrian artist DJ Ötzi brought it back to prominence again, reaching number 1 in the UK, Irish and Australian charts. This arrangement for concert band has a harmonica part to tie-in with the original, but is beefed up with elements used from a marching band chart by Tom Wallace.

Published by Edition Schwalbe (A0.1489669). The Csárdás is a typical Hungarian dance basing on folk music. But also art music has some famous examples, one of them is this csárdás from the comic opera Ritter Pásmán (Knight Pásmán) by Johann Strauss jr. Its premiere was on 1 January 1892 at the Vienna Court opera. The arrangement is one half tone lower than the original key of the composition for symphony orchestra and was commissioned and first time performed by Wind Philharmonic Mozarteum Salzburg conducted by Hansjoerg Angerer at their Three Kings' Concert on 6 January 2019 and broadcasted live by Austrian television. An der schönen blauen Donau (The Blue Danube) is known all over the world and every year a fixed encore at the New Year's Concert of the Vienna Philharmonic broadcasted in most countries of the world. Previous to the orchestra version it was premiered on 15 February 1867 in a separate version with male-choir. So it is a real challenge to create an arrangement of this famous piece, which may dare a comparison with the original. The arrangement is kept in the original key of the composition for symphony orchestra and was commissioned and first time performed by Mozarteum Wind Philharmonic Salzburg conducted by Hansjoerg Angerer at their Three Kings' Concert on 6 January 2019 in the Grosses Festspielhaus (Large Festival Hall) in Salzburg, Austria and broadcasted live by Austrian television.
