Josef Strauss, second born od the three Strauss brothers wrote this polka mazur in 1862 in Pavlovsk, Russia, located 30 kilometers south from St. Petersburg, the capital of the Russian Empire. It was first performed there in September 1862, followed by the first performance in Vienna in November of the same year. This transcription was commissioned by Wind Philharmonic Mozarteum Salzburg. Born in the capital of the Habsburg Empire he became military bandmaster, first violin and concertmaster of the Vienna Court Opera Orchestra and in succession to Gustav Mahler conductor of the Philharmonic Concerts by Vienna Philharmonic. He created also a series of appealing compositions in Viennese style. The arrangement of Unter vier Augen (Under Four Eyes) is one half tone higher than the original key of the composition for symphony orchestra and was commissioned and first time performed by Mozarteum Wind Philharmonic Salzburg conducted by Hansjoerg Angerer at their Three Kings' Concert on 6 January 2019 in the Grosses Festspielhaus (Large Festival Hall) in Salzburg, Austria and broadcasted live by Austrian television. Written in the style of nocturne, it is one of the most famous songs in Debussy's work. And also it is often featured as a repertoire among classical pianos as a whole.In this arrangement, while respecting the original song, bold “reharmonization†(change of chord) is applied. And further, an opening section as fade-in effect and an ending section extending the aftertaste time are added. All of them are used for creating new attractive of this song. And, I am also inspired by the title “A sentimental promenade which had been named at the time of publication in 1900-1901. There are many weak sounds throughout this song, but each phrase requires a rich expression centered on romanticism. At the same time, it is also important for the phrase to be passed down smoothly, and especially in the middle part, a flowing propulsion is required. As a composer, musical ideas pop into my head every day. Most of them are completely unrelated to any piece I am currently working on, and I manage to write some of them down for future reference. The theme to Morning Sunrise is one of those ideas. When I wrote it down, I had no idea that I was ever going to create a piece from it, so I just wrote it down for strings.Several months later, however, I had decided that I wanted to write a piece to thank those who have made my high school music life great. I spent weeks developing 4 or 5 themes and even had half of a piece done at one point, but none of theme worked. I then remembered this one from and realized that it was the perfect theme.The result of taking so long to complete this piece is that it is a very powerful piece where there are no extraneous notes, and no missing ones either. Harlequin, a popular person who entertains people. Dressed in a quirky costume, what does he think under that makeup? Even if you indulge in thought or shed tears without knowing it, you have to continue playing the clown on the stage for the expectations of the audience. The composition seems to be the relationship between an individual and society, and it also applies to the relationship between solo and the band in this work.
