THREE CHRISTMAS CAROLS - SET ONE features the following selections - Silent Night, Sleep, Holy Babe, and Lo, How a Rose. This medley has been written with flexible scoring options permitting performance by a wide variety of wind instruments. While this selection may be performed as a quartet, best results are obtained by performance of at least five heterogeneous instruments. The full score has been revised and groups instruments in an easier to read format. The vibraphone part is optional but adds an additionally rich sonority and texture.Performance duration is about 4 minutes and 35 seconds utilizing the tempi suggested. The following concert-pitched key centers are found in this selection: Bb Major, F Major, C Major, and Db Major. While any combination of wind instruments are possible, the instruments in the accompanying mp3 audio file primarily comprise a woodwind septet, and a keyboard percussion instrument. They include: 2 Flutes, 1 Bb Clarinet, 1 Alto Sax, 1 Bassoon, 1 Tuba, and vibraphone.

This is an original composition for Concert Band or Wind Symphony. It's a dance like piece in 6/8 time in the key of Db major. There are some challenging sections for individual instruments (some notes are pushing the instrument's range) and the piece as a whole will ask players to listen and balance musically. There's no recording of the piece, only a midi realization.

A Concert band or large ensemble arrangement with the Slash Guitar solo of this awesome song by Guns N' Roses as a versatile option that can be performed with or without the added rhythm section. It is transcribed from the Album version so has the extra section in the middle which allows a true to the original performance with the full guitar solo. The original key of Db does pose a challenge for band members which transposed down to C and the arrangement for sale was performed with great success this summer to 800 people for an event with great results. It was easier to have the Lead guitarist down tune their guitar making it easier to learn quickly as a band. Many arrangements simply put in a repeat using the same music but this is a full arrangement encompassing the original song as close as possible. The rhythm section is fully written out for those musicians that don't read chords which are also included for more advanced musicians. The solo Guitar part is in the audio but there are more in depth transcriptions available from online sheet music Guitar specialist websites that will be a more accurate version. Meredith Publications (A0.1501543). This orchestration is the end product of my book entitled Orchestrational Archetypes in Percy Grainger's Wind Band Music. In an attempt to understand the enigmatic style of Grainger's wind band music, I made a detailed analysis of his recurring orchestrational practices with regard to melody, countermelody, part writing and contrapuntal dynamics. The conclusion is that the Grainger sound is a function of recurring orchestrational techniques, rather than other compositional elements such as melody or harmony. This information was then used to dish up selected Grainger voice and piano pieces in his own idiosyncratic style. I also arranged “British Waterside” and “The Cutting of The Hay” (G. Schrimer). Lord Maxwell’s Goodnight is a reflective, moving piece based on a ballad about Lord Maxwell, who has killed a rival in a long-standing bloody family feud and is leaving for Scotland to avoid prosecution. He bids good-bye to his wife, his lands and his country. Lord Maxwell’s Goodnight appears as Grainger’s British Folk Music Setting No. 42 for high tenor voice or unison male chorus and 4 strings (violin, viola, 2 cellos) in 1904. The original is in the key of F major but has been shifted to Db major in this orchestration. The lyrics of the first verse are: Adieu, madame, my mother dear,But and my sisters three O!Adieu, fair Robert of Orchardstane,My heart is woe for thee, O!Adieu, the lily and the rose,The primrose fair to see, O!Adieu, my ladye, and only joy,For I may not stay with thee, O!.

A fun tune for Beginner or young bands. Great intro to swing style. Though there are split parts in the clarinet and trumpet, this is still playable by most beginner bands. A lot of unison rhythms and doubling for reinforcement. There is also a concert Db, which is not normal for this range, but most have it and it's in unison as well. I added a more challenging percussion part (toms) which can be omitted if needed. NOTE - There is a separate Trombone part that avoids 5th position. If they are comfortable with that, they should play the Euphonium part.
