The concerto is in three movements, following the usual quick-slow-quick pattern. The first movement is very energetic, with a predominantly rhythmic structure. The second movement has a melodious song that will be developed exploiting the sound resources of the wind band, with the constant intervention of the soloists. The third movement represents a struggle between the two soloists, assisted by the band and recovery the constant rhythmic tension.This work was created as a result of a challenge from the tuba player Sérgio Carolino, being very demanding for the soloists. In Seaspray, Barefoot imagines a young person running down from sand dunes into the ocean and being chased by the waves back up into the dunes, in a playful dance. The wind ensemble arrangement is scored for Piccolo, Flute 1 & 2, Oboe, Clarinet in Eb, Clarinets in Bb 1, 2 & 3, Bass Clarinet in Bb, Bassoon 1 & 2, Alto Sax 1 & 2, Tenor Sax, Bari Sax, Horn in F 1 & 2, Trumpet in Bb 1 & 2, Trombone 1 & 2, Bass Trombone, Euphonium, Tuba, Double Bass and 2 Percussion (Snare + Cymbals; and Bass Drum). Originally composed for violin & piano, alternate arrangements are available for tuba & piano, clarinet & piano, euphonium & piano, flugelhorn & piano and flute & piano. A guitar accompaniment is also available for violin, clarinet or alto flute in an arrangement by Rodrigo Baggio. Premiered in Luxembourg, in December 2010, conducted by Dimosthenis Dimitrakoulakos.Program Notes:This piece is named for Yemanya (pronounced Yeh-MAHN-jah or Yeh-MAHN-jee), the Brazilian/African nurturing mother goddess of the ocean. She's known as a protector, supplier, and one who grants wishes. Every December 31st, Brazilians celebrate Yemanya by casting white flowers and miniature boats into the sea. If Yemanya grants your wish, her waves will swallow the boat and if she denies the wish the boat will wash up on shore. Yemanya teaches us to dive in at the very moment of golden opportunity, to enjoy the rhythms of life, and to allow all doubts to be washed away. The fluid, oceanic themes of the instruments represent the flow of the water and magic of Yemanya. The piece starts off with a soft wind chime accompanied by gong/tam-tam. Then the vibraphone enters mysteriously as the main theme that drives the whole piece as it subtly changes. The double bass creates a rhythmic pulse beneath the other sections. The gentle melodies in the flute dance around jazzy articulations in the trumpets and saxophones. There's an interplay of Afro-Cuban beats in the marimba and a bossa nova rhythm between the temple blocks and xylophone. Throughout the piece I have tried to capture the water's motion and the ever-changing face of the sea. As the vibraphone returns to the original melody, we are reminded of Yemanya's eternal beauty and peaceful nature.

Medioevo is a Composition based on impressions from the dark ages. The composer wrote the piece to take you on a journey through this remarkable period of time.Part 1: The Promised Beginning Land Of Departurethe part opens with a decisive rhythm in the lower brass, woodwind and percussion section. The theme played by the woodwinds is written to give the listeners a middle eastern feeling. This represents the crusades. The higher brass section play a nice and static counter theme.Part 2: Enchanted DominionThis section a bit mysterious and magic, played by mallets and flutes. The theme from the Oboe represents the ghost of a warlock trapped on the dominion. As we pas trough the dominion we need the protection of the church represented by the Harpsichord (clavecimbel) and clarinets.Part 3: The rustling ForestsAfter leaving the Enchanted Dominion we gallop with our horse trough the Rustling Forests. These forest show fast winds and have a lyric theme played by the trumpets and saxesPart 4: The SquareOnce trough the Forests we get to the Village square where the market is on going. We have several sales men selling their goods. These are represented in the themes of the woodwinds. The confusion gets to much and we try to hide from the sales men. The trumpets represent this part in a piano 5/4 movement which bring a big contrast trough the noises from the market place. In the end we need to get through the market place so we find a way to keep the sales men away by playing a wonderful legato melody which the dwarf’s taught us.Part 5: Dwarf’sThese social and kind people have a little village outside of the town where joyful melodies sound from both children as adults and elderly dwarf’s. the themes are divided under the different solo players of the woodwind sections.Part 6: Run or HideAfter a nice time with the Dwarf’s we continue our path but soon we face a large army coming our way. What do we do Run or Hide? This part is full of different melodies and counter melodies to represent the indecisiveness of the Dark Ages.Part 7: NeverlandWe arrive in the land of the elves where the tenor sax and horns play an agitato atmosphere to represent our hart beat when we see these beautiful creatures. The themes from the flutes and euphoniums show the grace and beauty of the elves. While the harp creates an elf like atmosphere.Part 8 The castle Gardenswe arrive in the castle gardens. These gardens are the most beautiful in the whole land. It makes the orchestra say Ahh. While the percussion section gives it a magical feeling. After being amassed we soon find out that these gardens are made for the Authorities and paid by our tax money which gives us a double feeling. Should this money not be better spend on good music?Part 9 Black Powderafter we find out the castle lord wrongly used or tax money we go and find some black powder to blow him up. After being hunted down by the castle lord trying to get some black powder. We find ourselves in the glorious fight.Part 10: Rageour glorious fight with the castle lord continues into an enormous climax where we are stroke down and ends up with a one way ticket to the graveyard.Part 11: The GraveyardThe whole orchestra sings a spiritual song to guide us into the afterlives. An angle comes to collect our soul (represented by the piccolo flute). And slowly or name is forgotten.

The song was Ellis-Bextor's third top 10 hit in the United Kingdom, peaking at number three on the UK Singles Chart. Get Over You reached the top 10 in Denmark, Spain, Australia, and New Zealand. 'The Sidewinder' is a 1964 album by jazz trumpeter Lee Morgan, recorded in New Jersey, U.S. It was released on the Blue Note label and the title track is perhaps Morgan's all-around best-known composition; it would go on to become a jazz standard and was additionally released as a single, entering the Billboard Hot 100 in January 1965. Morgan recorded the track with tenor saxophonist Joe Henderson, pianist Barry Harris, double bassist Bob Cranshaw and drummer Billy Higgins. The album became Blue Note's best-selling record ever, breaking the previous sales record and saving the label from near bankruptcy. Record producer Michael Cuscuna recalls the unexpected success: the company issued only 4,000 copies upon release. Needless to say, they ran out of stock in three or four days. And 'The Sidewinder' became a runaway smash. The title track was used as the music in a Chrysler television advertisement during the 1965 Baseball World Series, without Morgan's permission; he threatened to sue, Chrysler agreed not to show the advertisement again and settled the case. This arrangement has been adapted from the jazz ensemble version by Mark Taylor, retaining solos for alto sax and trumpet, although an optional cut can be taken if necessary to skip these.
