Our God, Our Help in Ages Past is a hymn by Isaac Watts and paraphrases the 90th Psalm of the Book of Psalms. It originally consisted of nine stanzas. In present usage, however, the hymn is usually limited to stanzas one, two, three, five, seven and nine (6 Verses) (Methodist books also include the original sixth stanza). In 1738, John Wesley in his hymnal, Psalms and Hymns, changed the first line of the text from Our God to O God. Both Watts' wording and Wesley's rewording remain in current use. [Wikipedia]O God, our help in ages past, Our hope for years to come, Our shelter from the stormy blast, And our eternal home.This arrangement is for concert band and includes parts for Eb and F Horns, Eb, Bb, and C Tubas and a chorded piano part (not on the score).The tune (ST. ANNE) was written by William Croft (1678-1727).Often used on ANZAC Day.There are descant parts for Flute/Piccolo, Clarinet and Trumpet. Published by John Ivor Holland (A0.1373472). Cloudbusting is a song written, produced and performed by English singer Kate Bush. It was the second single released from her fifth studio album 'Hounds of Love' (1985). Cloudbusting peaked at No. 20 on the UK Singles Chart. Taking inspiration from the 1973 Peter Reich memoir A Book of Dreams, the song is about the very close relationship between psychiatrist and philosopher Wilhelm Reich and his young son, Peter, told from the point of view of the mature Peter. It describes the boy's memories of his life with Reich on their family farm, called Orgonon, where the two spent time cloudbusting, a rain-making process which involved using a machine pointing at the sky. The lyrics further describe Reich's abrupt arrest and imprisonment, the pain of loss the young Peter felt, and his helplessness at being unable to protect his father. The predominant string texture has been retained in this concert band arrangement, transposed to a more band-friendly key and the thumping percussion recalls Kate Bush's megahit 'Running Up That Hill'. Arranged as part of a project to expand the repertoire of music for concert band by women composers.

Samuel Coleridge-Taylor was born in Holborn, London on August 15, 1875 and died from pneumonia at the age of 37 in Croy- don, England on September 1, 1912. At an early age his grandfather began teaching him how to play the violin. His musical ability was obvious and at the age of 15, his extended family arranged for Taylor to study at the Royal College of Music. While at RCM he changed from violin to composition, working under professor Charles Villiers Stanford. His classmates included Ralph Vaughan Williams and Gustav Holst. He was later helped by Edward Elgar in 1898, who described Coleridge-Taylor as far and away the cleverest fellow going amongst the young men. By 1896, Coleridge-Taylor was earning a reputation as a composer and was also accepted as an excellent conductor. In 1898 at the age of 23 he composed the African Suite. Danse Nègre is the last of the four movements that make up the African Suite, Op. 35 (proceeded by Introduction, A Negro Love Song, and Valse). Coleridge-Taylor saw it as his mission in life to help establish the dignity of the black man. He was greatly influenced by black American poet P. L. Dunbar. He made three successful visits to the United States to great acclaim. In 1904, on his first USA tour he was received by President Theodore Roosevelt at the White House. Above all, though, Samuel Coleridge-Taylor was known as a man of great dignity and patience.

It firstly emerged as a B-side, but later re-released as an A, going on to spend twelve weeks on the UK Singles Chart, including two at No. 1, however failing to make commercial success in the US. The song was written by Sandy Linzer and L. Russell Brown and produced by Linzer, featuring retro (and distinctive) use of disco and siren whistles. A hi-energy cover by the duo Pat and Mick, produced by Stock Aitken Waterman, reached No. 22 on the UK Singles Chart ten years later in 1990, helping to raise funds for the charity 'Help a London Child'. This late disco classic is sure to liven up any concert, indoor or outdoor, and the whistles will certainly attract attention from far away!

A delightful little waltz that sounds a bit off kilter because it has seven-measure phrases. To balance that, there are also two countermelodies presented, with the final A section featuring the main melody and both countermelodies in a grand calliope sound. The Cantummit Waltz is called that because I found it hard to hum a few bars when asked to do so by some people who were helping me name it. So they suggested that I call it the I Can't Hum It Waltz. I wanted a song that mixed my other songs' Harmonic minor feel mixed with a chased feeling. The walk from the path is metaphoric. The music tells a story about a duck trying to escape duck hunters. The duck is helped by a bird (Piccolo). However, as the bird helps the duck, They have to cross a creek, the duck manages to make it but as the bird tries the bird is caught, the bird is in danger. The bird calls out to the Duck but the Duck can't do anything. The duck watches as the bird is killed by a duck hunter. The Duck is able to find cover and when the Duck calms down and the Hunters leave for today, The duck mourns his fellow buddy.

Includes: Digital .pdf w/Full Score and PartsClashing Destinies was originally a work for digital media composed in March-April of 2023, later adapted for Full Orchestra/Symphonic Wind Ensemble. Clashing Destinies takes the listener through a spiral into insanity, starting with the constant thudding of the lows. Even as different parts add on, the thudding persists, representing one's inability to think clearly. There is a sharp dissonant line initially played by the glockenspiel that comes up time and time again, representing the internal panic that cuts through one's rational thoughts during their spiral into madness. Finally we hit the breaking point, a moment of silence followed by the screams of pain one experiences after reaching their breaking point. Soon after, a screaming trumpet takes the spotlight, any form of rational thought has now dithered away. Nothing is left but screams. After an intense battle of struggling to find a grasp on reality, there is a moment of calm. Things slow down as it is believed sanity is being regained, but still, there is that persistent thudding and sharp dissonance. Alas, the realization occurs, it is impossible to regain sanity. As the brass section overtakes the calm of the woodwinds, insanity fully takes over. The homestretch of this piece is pure chaos, every motif comes back. It is one huge reprise of all the feelings that have been experienced, except now they are all sounding much more rapidly, all just a small part of the chaos that is ensuing. Now there is nothing left to do except yell for help. There are three final screams, three final pleads for help. After screaming for help, it is realized... No one is there. Now there is nothing, left unresolved, all alone in the silence.

Far to the westernmost regions of Russia, and then farther still, there is a place known as theDancing Forest of Kaliningrad. It is a mysterious, otherworldly place where trees grow in tangles,knots, and other unfathomable shapes, a place described by local psychics as a point of conflict where great positive and negative forces collide. Due to its remarkable air of mystery, the forest has woven its way into the legends and folklore of the region. My personal favorite legend about it goes as follows: The Prussian prince Barty used to hunt in these forests. Chasing a Roe deer one day, heheard a wonderful tune, and as he came to a field, he saw a beautiful girl playing a lyre. She was a Christian and her name was Predislava. The prince proposed to her but she replied that she would marry only a man of her faith. Prince Barty agreed to become a Christian as long as she could prove the power of her invisible God was more powerful than the surrounding trees. Predislava played her lyre. Birds grew silent, and the trees started dancing. The prince then took a bracelet from his hand and gave it to her as a token of their betrothal. On this very spot, many years later, there grew the Dancing Forest.This piece is my homage to the Dancing Forest of Kaliningrad and all its associated legends. Premiered by the Santa Teresa High School Concert Band in May 2019, the work is scored for a concert band of intermediate size and skill level and is designed to help introduce high school musicians to modal music and unconventional key signatures. Furthermore, the piece is inspired by multiple rhythmic and harmonic elements of rock and folk music in an attempt to help bridge the gap between popular music and contemporary wind ensemble repertoire.
