(Life Is Worth Living, My Friends) is an aria from Giuditta, the last operetta by Austrian-Hungarian composer Franz (Ferenc) Lehár, first performed on 20th January 1934 at Vienna State Opera in Austria. It's the first performance aria of Octavio, a part for a powerfol tenor singer. The large orchestral score is not easy to balance with the tenor part, perhaps even more tricky with wind orchestra. The arrangement is kept in the original key of the composition for symphony orchestra. Is was first time performed by Mozarteum Wind Philharmonic Salzburg conducted by Hansjoerg Angerer on 23rd April 2016 in Salzburg, Austria with native of Thailand tenor Nutthaporn Thammathi at their concert Spring in Sanzburg and repeated by Salzburg Wind Philharmonic with same conductor and soloist at their Three Kings' Concert on 6th January 2023 in the Grosses Festspielhaus (Large Festival Hall) in Salzburg, Austria and broadcasted live by Austrian television. Published by Indie Classical Publications (A0.971806). OVERCAST was originally written as part of a three-movement work for solo trombone and piano. When I was composing the original work, I wanted to create an additional arrangement of the 3rd movement (DRIZZLE) for concert band. The work is inspired by the brief period of my life when I lived abroad in England. As many people are aware, it rains constantly in Great Britain, thus making it an easy inspiration for music. Even though I consider this work somewhat melancholic, it is meant to also reflect the warmth and comfort I felt while living in the country where I met so many wonderful people. Other inspiration for this movement came from Ralph Vaughan William's Pastoral Symphony, most notably, the 4th movement. Grade 4. Duration: 5:50

Duration: 4: 23level: intermediate to advancedConcert festival type of piece!Fog Meets the Storm to program notes: One of my goals was to create a piece that demonstrates many different mood changes and sound effects, that we experience in the climate that we live in. Whether we are journeying to the mountains or driving to work, mother nature is always on display. Therefore, I believe mother nature symbolizes pleasure, pain, and despair. Having the opportunity to grow up in New England and now living in Maine, I have seen a WIDE variety of weather within just a period of 24 hours! While living on the West Coast I will never forget my drive on the 395 going north and seeing the Sierra Nevada mountains (to my left) tall and grand with snow covered mountain tops! To the right, you would see and feel the hot desert! Although the performers do not need to envision mountaintops or deserts you need to respect the different sections and moods of the piece and know that everything is changing around us, all the time. As musical artists, we can convey our life journeys through our individual sound as well as the ensemble; whether it’s through enjoying nature, life’s challenges, and celebrations! Enjoy making traditional sounds and nontraditional sounds with your instrument.

The ocean is full of extraordinary creatures, from sharks and whales to jellyfish and coral. More than 50 percent of all living creatures on Earth can be found in oceans. Covering more than 70 percent of the surface of Earth, oceans are filled with wondrous life, a wide spectrum of colors, and great mystery. Dive deep into ocean life with this selection for beginner concert band (Grade 1). The piece is written in B-flat Mixolydian, with a contrasting softer section in C minor. There is also non-functional harmony throughout the work that differentiates this piece from other works of this difficulty, with few accidentals (concert B in saxes and horns, concert D-flat in low brass and reeds). This selection can be played with a minimal ensemble of flutes, clarinets, alto saxes, trumpets, trombones and percussion. Commissioned by The Association for Music in International Schools AMIS. Premiered in Bangkok, Thailand in January 2011, conducted by Dimosthenis Dimitrakoulakos. Program Notes: The image of Pele, the Hawaiian goddess of fire and volcanoes, kept reappearing in my mind as the main focus for this piece. According to myth, the islands of Hawaii owe their existence to Pele who ran away from her jealous sister, a sea goddess, to these tiny islands. Her sister sent tidal waves and Pele answered by sending fiery lava into the ocean, making new land as it cooled. The spirit of Pele lives on in the craters of the volcano, watching over the islands, reminding us that fiery eruptions and emotional upheavals are followed by new life and change. Pele, unpredictable and powerful, makes her entrance with a loud bang of brass and percussion, followed by the entire ensemble joining in. As the trumpets trail off, words from the ancient Hawaiian chant E Pele, E Pele are heard moving between each section in contrasting rhythms, as the tuba and low brass unfold the main theme. This chant is performed in Hawaiian culture accompanied by hula kahiko, an ancient style of hula dancing. The vibraphone plays a tranquil melody reminiscent of a Hawaiian wind chime softly blowing in the wind. The congas and rainstick evokes a tribal element. The piece is meant to juxtapose the multi-faceted natures of Pele. Syncopated rhythms in the winds paired with big brass and percussion represent her passion and violent temper. The playful, quiet, lingering sections led by the flute and vibraphone represent her irresistible and enchanting mystery as she creates new land and the living things that inhabit these magnificent islands.
