Old 100th or Old Hundredth (also commonly called Old Hundred) is a hymn tune in Long Metre from Pseaumes Octante Trois de David (1551) (the second edition of the Genevan Psalter) and is one of the best-known melodies in all Christian musical traditions. The tune is usually attributed to the French composer Loys Bourgeois (c. 1510 – c.1560).Although the tune was first associated with Psalm 134 in the Genevan Psalter, the melody receives its current name from an association with the 100th Psalm, in a translation by William Kethe entitled All People that on Earth do Dwell. [Wikipedia] This arrangement is for either concert band or orchestra or any combination of both. There are parts for Eb and F Horns, 3rd Violin (sub-Viola) and an optional Piano/Organ (not on the score) part included in the PDF. A Descant part can be used in the 2nd and 4th verses played on Flute and/or Trumpet. The MP3 was recorded with NotePerformer 3.Grade = 3 Duration 1:20 mins (2 verses).

I set out to compose a musical setting of the text in hopes that the words and music may be of comfort to others too in seasons of grief, adversity, or doubt. “My tears have been my food both day and night, and all the time, people ask, ‘Where is your God?’ But each day, the Lord pours His unfailing love upon me, and through the night, I sing His songs, praying to God who gives me life.†(Psalm 42:3, 8) I composed the piece originally for a cappella choir, but after finishing, I was inspired to create a transcription for Concert Band as well. This transcription may be performed separately, or combined with choir for more impact if desired.

It was written in 1719 by the English minister and hymnwriter Isaac Watts, and its lyrics are a Christian reinterpretation of Psalm 98 and Genesis 3. The carol is usually sung to an 1848 arrangement by the American composer Lowell Mason. Since the 20th century, Joy to the World has been the most-published Christmas hymn in North America. Of Lake & Hill & Heaven Splendor is a beautiful, emotional piece of music perfect for teaching musical phrasing and balance, blend, and intonation. It is a great choice for a more lyrical middle selection for concerts or could be played as a stand-alone piece. It would be equally as comfortable in an educational setting as it would be in a sacred setting. The inspiration for the piece comes from Psalm 89:11, The heavens are yours, and also the earth; you founded the world and all that is in it. It's performance time is approximately 3:30. As a 6-part motet, every part is doubled by another part of the band.Sir Charles Villiers Stanford (30 September 1852 – 29 March 1924) was an Irish composer, music teacher, and conductor. He composed a substantial number of concert works, including seven symphonies, but his best-remembered pieces are his choral works for church performance, chiefly composed in the Anglican tradition. Beati quorum via (Blessed are those whose way), Op. 38, No. 3, is a motet for mixed unaccompanied six-part choir by Charles Villiers Stanford, a setting of the first verse of Psalm 119 in Latin. It is the last of Stanford's Three Latin Motets, published in 1905.Stanford composed it at the end of the 19th century when he was a teacher at the Royal College of Music in London. Paul J. Rodmell wrote in his review of R. J. Stowe's book Stanford education: his finest unaccompanied motets, such as Beati quorum via, attain neo-Brucknerian sublimity, comparing Stanford's work to that of Hubert Parry and Anton Bruckner.
