This two-measure pattern ends differently every other time, creating a four-measure pattern that occurs throughout and never changes! All students (except the shaker) play this pattern at the very beginning, establishing the basis for the entire arrangement.Only six notes are used. Students’ familiarity with the music will be an asset as they tackle a melody that may be a new challenge to them. With this in mind, the melody is always doubled or cued elsewhere; no section will ever have to play it alone. There are four opportunities for either a soloist or a soli of any combination! These occur at bars 21, 25, 49 and 53.  Have fun with these spots, giving everyone an opportunity. It will, of course, need to be mapped out for a performance. Students will shout the Bluey characters’ names just like the show’s theme. There is one spot to insert a name of your choosing - a student, teacher, administrator, family member, or pet! Alternatively, you can replace any of the character’s names to truly personalize the song. I hope you and your students enjoy learning and performing Bluey!

In this arrangement, a peaceful 5th is expanded into a majestic series of descending chords until there's a pause before the song begins with quite woodwinds. The song grows and grows changing, folding, and contorting until the whole band sweeps into the final verse, where the song quiets down and ends with a soft minor plagal cadence. Published by Imagine Music - Digital (IZ.CBS1615-S). 9 x 12 in inches.Reflections on a German Folk Song is based on the traditional round Himmel und Erde, which directly translated meansHeaven and Earth, however the common English title is Music Alone Shall Live. While teaching music for SaydelCommunity School District in Des Moines, Iowa, I taught the round to elementary students and concluded that the folk tunewould lend itself well to young instrumentalists. Consequently, I set out to arrange the round for emerging band.After an introduction based on motives and rhythms of the round, the tune is initially played by an alto saxophone solo (oroboe). After a transition from the key of F Major to E-Flat Major, the band divides into three groups to play the three-voiceround. The entire round is repeated twice, exhibiting a lengthy crescendo and eventual diminuendo caused by the threeinstrument groupings ending their voices in the round.Having students perform a simple, yet lyrical round provides for a variety of educational opportunities. Similar to youngvocal ensembles, performing a round helps students to securely play with a group that is doing something different thanother sections of the ensemble, which ultimately assists in the transition to playing within a smaller, individual section orindependent part. Reflections on a German Folksong contains simplistic rhythms, which allows students to primarily focuson phrasing, articulation, tone quality and dynamics.
