Published by David Hawkins (A0.939467). This transcription of a Latin motet would work well as a warmup. The notes are easy but the lines are hard. This encourages listening between sections. As a 6-part motet, every part is doubled by another part of the band.Sir Charles Villiers Stanford (30 September 1852 – 29 March 1924) was an Irish composer, music teacher, and conductor. He composed a substantial number of concert works, including seven symphonies, but his best-remembered pieces are his choral works for church performance, chiefly composed in the Anglican tradition. Beati quorum via (Blessed are those whose way), Op. 38, No. 3, is a motet for mixed unaccompanied six-part choir by Charles Villiers Stanford, a setting of the first verse of Psalm 119 in Latin. It is the last of Stanford's Three Latin Motets, published in 1905.Stanford composed it at the end of the 19th century when he was a teacher at the Royal College of Music in London. Paul J. Rodmell wrote in his review of R. J. Stowe's book Stanford education: his finest unaccompanied motets, such as Beati quorum via, attain neo-Brucknerian sublimity, comparing Stanford's work to that of Hubert Parry and Anton Bruckner.

Although not strictly in typical march format, it could be used as such or be used as an accompaniment to the vocal using the original words.I was approached by Ron Bergman (ex-RAN Navy Reserve Band) to arrange this piece from an old copy of the original piano music he had for the use of the band at its reunion and get-together in February 2011.This is the Concert Band version.- most parts are double A4 size. But I also had a number of players who could move faster and play more challenging rhythms and notes than others. What to do? How about a simple arrangement with flexible part assignments?JINGLE THOSE BELLS! is a super-easy setting of Jingle Bells. The work opens with the traditional unison rendition of the melody, as found in almost every beginner band method book ever written. But then, after a brief pause, the melody is repeated, but now faster and with the addition of a bass line and rhythmic accompaniment. The rhythmic accompaniment is provided by several of your best clarinet, sax, and trumpet players who play the Advanced Part. And if you are short on bass voice instruments, you can utilize the optional bass parts for Alto Sax. Super flexible and a bit humorous, it takes a little score study to realize how adaptable this piece is. Guaranteed to work with your beginners! (PS: the printed music shows Callie May, our cat, as arranger. I gave her credit so my wife could play more than one piece by me at her holiday concerts without looking too biased! Consider pairing this work with another one of my super-easy beginner band works - JOY TO THE KING – also available online here).NOTE: this is assembled with the Advanced Clarinet parts appearing as page 1 so you may view it on the web site as you listen to the sound file. The Great Rock Island Route, popularized as Wabash Cannonball and various other titles, is a 19th-century American folk song that describes the scenic beauty and predicaments of a fictional train, the Wabash Cannonball Express, as it traveled on the Great Rock Island Railroad. The song has become a country music staple and common marching band repertoire. The only train to actually bear the name was created in response to the song's popularity, the Wabash Railroad renaming its daytime express service between Detroit and St. Louis the Wabash Cannon Ball from 1949 until discontinuation during the formation of Amtrak in 1971.The Carter Family made one of the first recordings of the song in 1929, though it was not released until 1932. Another popular version was recorded by Roy Acuff in 1936. The Acuff version is one of the fewer than 40 all-time singles to have sold 10 million (or more) physical copies worldwide.The tune is most famously associated with Kansas State University athletics and ESPN in 2016 named it the top Big Twelve football pregame ritual. It is also a signature song of the Indiana State University Marching Sycamores and the Purdue All-American Marching Band as the ISU and Purdue campuses are adjacent to the Mighty Wabash River. It is also associated with the Stephen F. Austin State University Lumberjack Marching Band, the Kansas State University Marching Band, the Texas Tech University Goin' Band from Raiderland, and the University of Texas Longhorn Band. It was also used as the theme song by USS Wabash.The song The Wabash Cannonball is part of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll list. It is the oldest song on the list.This arrangement is for concert band.
