JB Dykes famous hymn tune Nicaea is associated with the wordsHoly, holy, holy Lord God Almighty, Early in the morning our song shall rise to thee...This arrangement will be useful to accompany congregational or choral singing as it is in suitable keys or it can be used as a purely instrumental piece. After a short introduction the tune is presented simply - a key change before the final verse leads to a majestic presentation of the tune with an effective descant. This arrangement is suitable for school orchestras and ensembles as well as more experienced players. This Christmas carol has had a number of different versions, starting out in the 18th Century as a French carol, Quelle Est Cette Odeur Agreable?. It has been translated into English as What Is This Fragrance? Other lyrics were written for the same tune, such as Thou Who Wast Rich Beyond All Splendor by Frank Houghton in 1934, based on 2 Corinthians 8:9: For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich. In 1997, Houghton's wife Dorothy modernized his lyrics as Lord, You Were Rich Beyond All Splendor for the Haven of Rest Quartet to record with the title For Love's Sake. It has also been recorded by Marilyn Baker in the UK and Keith & Kristyn Getty in the UK & Ireland. This is a flexible band/choral arrangement which, in its demo configuration here, is presented by a keyboard and a double quartet of wind instruments with a string bass.The performance time is approximately 3:30.

The classic song from The Greatest Showman arranged for Concert Band or ensemble that allows the opportunity to add strings and 3 Keyboards to a standard Concert Band setup. I have added some hand held percussion to the Vibraphone and Timpani which adds some depth. The Drum Kit part gives this song some a great groove and we are having fun rehearsing it at the moment. In addition, there are parts for Strings as we are preparing for a Tour which combines a Sinfonia and Junior concert band making a big sound. The keyboard parts have the chords written and notation for both approaches and I arranged a shortened version for our House Music Competition and it worked really well. The arrangement works without the 2nd or 3rd parts as the piano picks up the harmonies along with the strings. Of all church hymns, a longstanding classic is the upbeat, Leaning on the Everlasting Arms by A.J. Showalter. Written all the way back in 1887, I can still hear the choir and congregation belting out this wonderful hymn, while the piano and organ accompany them at full force. This arrangement for elementary band begins with the verse in a very laid-back, cantabile style. The chorus then joins in, led by snare drums in a stirring march style. Great moving lower brass lead all to a big broad ending. This piece is a perennial audience favorite, and one your group will enjoy performing time and again.All parts are written within the range of young elementary grade musicians.
