These three pieces (The Procession, Waltzing in the Rain and Tim's Dance) are presented here as a suite, but may of course be used individually. The instrumentation is flexible, allowing for various combinations of instruments, including Clarinet Quartet/Quintet/Ensemble, Saxophone Quartet/Quintet/Ensemble and Brass Quartet/Quintet/Ensemble. All Clarinet and Bass Clarinet parts are below the break and all notes for all parts are kept within a comfortable range for Elementary Level performers. The melody is shared between Parts 1, 2, 3 and 4, so that all players of these parts have important parts! The score is shown in concert pitch. Octave displacement occurs in some parts. Part 5 is Optional. Rhythmic values used: semibreve (whole note), dotted minim (dotted half-note), minim (half-note), crotchet (quarter-note), quavers (eighth-notes). Articulations/signs used: staccato, accent, slur, tie, repeat and pause. All three pieces are in Bb major (concert pitch), with no use of accidentals. Parts in this set: Part 1 (Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Alto Sax, Trumpet); Part 2 (Clarinet, Alto Sax, Trumpet); Part 3 (Clarinet, Tenor Sax, F Horn); Part 4 (Bassoon, Bass Clarinet, Baritone Sax, Trombone/Euphonium); Part 5 (Clarinet / Bass Clarinet, Tenor Saxophone, F Horn, Tuba); Glockenspiel; Cymbal & Triangle (Player 1) and Tambourine (Player 2); Snare Drum and Bass Drum. Less confident and/or early beginner players could also be included in the ensemble by using Part 5, as this part can be played using only the notes Bb and F (concert pitch). El Camino de la Vida - Arrangiamento mariachi di Guido MenestrinaUn arrangiamento mariachi di una canzone colombiana del 1983, composta da Héctor Ochoa Cárdenas e acclamata da un concorso pochi anni dopo come la più bella canzone di tutti i tempi della Colombia e nel 1999 come la canzone colombiana per eccellenza del XX secolo.In effetti il brano è stato anche studiato approfonditamente dal punto di vista strutturale per capire l'estensione del suo appeal sull'ascoltatore, individuando nella composizione infussi di Liszt, Chopin e Bizet, peraltro stilemi musicali molto usati anche da altri compositori del Novecento di area colombiana e venezuelana.A mariachi arrangement of the famous Colombian song El Camino de la Vida, composed by Héctor Ochoa Cárdenas in 1983 and acclaimed during the next18-20 years as the most beautiful Colombian song of the 20th century and of all times. Gato de callejón es mi primera pieza para big band. Fue presentada al primer concurso de composición para bandas estudiantiles CORFOBAE durante el 2022, resultando en un cuarto lugar.Esta obra tiene por referencia las sonoridades de swing usadas en varias bandas sonoras de series clásicas (como lo es Don Gato y su pandilla), y por lo tanto, ampliamente extendido en el inconsciente colectivo. El crear una obra en este estilo responde a la necesidad de formentar la creación en este tipo de lenguajes, y en particular, en big band. Fue la primera vez que usé voicings cerrados en toda regla. Se usan armónicamente un par de vueltas relativamente sencillas. En este caso, me excedà con los grados de dificultad para el concurso (3-4), y me quedó una obra que está más cerca del grado 5 en la escala de música instrumental de Hal Leonard. Gato de Callejón is my first big band piece. It was presented to the first CORFO BAE composition contest for student bands during 2022, resulting on a 4th place.This piece has as reference the swing sonorities used on several OST's of classical series (as Top Cat), and because of that, widely extended on the colective inconscient. Creating a work on this style responds to the necessity of fomenting the musical creation on this kind of languages, and in particular, on big band. This was my first time using closed voicings on rule. There's harmonicly a pair of relatively simple turnarounds.In this case, I exceeded the difficulty grades of the contest (3-4), and I had a work mostly near to the grade 5 on Hal Leonard's Instrumental Music Scale.
