Nu Tal (Mi Tierra) or My Land, is one of my first orchestral works, commissioned by Dr. Irving Ramirez, associate conductor of the El Salvador’s Symphony Orchestra.At the beginning, the idea was to set four small sketches of different images from my country. The 3rd movement was composed first, at that point I didn’t have a name for the work but after a talk with my mother in law, Aracely Sánchez; who is an expert in Salvadoran folklore, I decided to change the work’s name to Nu Tal (My Land in Nahuatl) and use some elements from our folklore. Then, I combined the idea I had from the images and the folk rhythms and tunes to create the whole work.The first movement of the work contains actually two movements. The first part is an image of a plane going to El Salvador. While the plane comes out of the clouds a beautiful land is seen through the window until the plane lands safely at its destination. Immediately, the folk part of the movement (movement II) begins with the invocation performed by the shell to the four cardinal points and then an autochthonous sound is presented welcoming our guests to this magical land, and the theme develops until the end of the movement.The third part was the first composed and it is an image including various ideas that represents a vision of El Salvador from different perspectives and the complexity of the different generations that are currently creating El Salvador’s demographic landscape.The fourth movement is an amalgamate of folkloric ideas and images. The beginning is the call from a church by the bells, then the brass presents the main theme of the movement, which is based on the Gregorian chant Salve Regina that I deconstructed using different rhythmic meters. This arrangement spotlights an SATB Chorus, a full instrumental chorus and then interpolates the Irish folk tune Christmas Day in the Morning featuring the string section in a contrapuntal soli section. The chorus returns for the finale. Add some Irish spirit to your concert with this delightful American/Irish standard.

Written with community orchestras in mind. Traditional music session meets the orchestra: Backyard Polka & Segue Jig is a medley of original tunes written in traditional styles. In music sessions, each tune is played 3 times before moving on to the next one. It is inherently repetitive, giving everyone a chance to play the melody. To adapt this custom to the orchestral stage, I chose a bookended structure; Polka (1) - Jig (3) - Polka (1). Each instrumental section takes a turn making the melody their own. The finale is a rousing orchestral polka band complete with an accordion if you've got it. Score sized 8.5 x 14. Parts 8.5 x 11. Duration: 4:45-5:00.

William Billings, the first native-born American composer, wrote Chester as a patriotic tune embracing the American disdain for their British overlords and espousing the need for freedom and self-determination. The title, merely reflects a common practice of the time of having hymn tunes named for the location of their composition, rather than for their content. The piece served as a sort of de facto national anthem in the early years of our nationhood. Published by BJE Music (A0.751048). The Ash Grove -The first published version of the tune was in 1802 in The Bardic Museum, a book written by the Welsh harpist Edward Jones. About four years later a version with words appeared, under the name Llwyn Onn. It tells of a sailor's love for Gwen of Llwyn. At the end of the song, Gwen dies, and in one version of the piece, the writer talks about him mourning and that she is lying 'neath the shades of the lonely ash grove. The tune might be much older, as a similar air appears in The Beggar's Opera by John Gay (1728), in the song Cease Your Funning. "The Skye Boat Song" is a late 19th-century Scottish song recalling the journey of Prince Charles Edward Stuart (Bonnie Prince Charlie) from Benbecula to the Isle of Skye as he evaded capture by government troops after his defeat at the Battle of Culloden in 1746. A song of bitter loss and despair, which still manages to find a ray of hope in the fact that Charlie escaped and will "rise again".
It is arranged here for an Orchestra with optional parts for Clarinet 3, Euphonium, and Piano (Chorded).

Each verse and chorus is slightly different, like a series of variations.This arrangement was originally created for the Kansas City Symphony's Symphony in the Flint Hills event in 2022, an annual outdoor concert which traditionally ends with a crowd singing along to this, the state song of Kansas. The key is a friendly E flat, and the text is provided on the second page of the score. The title is a popular expression, which is used as the date of a future occurrence that will never come to pass. In the case of the song, the 12th of Never is given as the date on which the singer will stop loving his beloved, thus indicating that he will always love her. Mathis initially disliked the song, which was released as the flip side to his number 1 hit single Chances Are. It was written by Jerry Livingston and Paul Francis Webster, the tune (except for the bridge) being adapted from The Riddle Song (also known as I Gave My Love a Cherry), an old English folk song. Mathis's original version reached number 9 on what is now called the Billboard Hot 100 in the USA in 1957. A version by Cliff Richard was released in 1964 and reached number 8 in the UK. Donny Osmond's version, produced by Mike Curb and Don Costa, was his second number 1 single in the UK, spending a single week at the top of the UK Singles Chart in March 1973. In the U.S. it peaked at number 8.
