Ode an die Freude An 8 minutes version of the famous hymn for orchestra and/or choir with an recognizable introduction. You will need this arrangement if you want the Ode an die Freude to begin with a worthy introductionGreatly reduced version of the 3rd and 4th movements of the 9th symphony. The hymn Ode an die Freude can also be performed as a single movement. Heavy brass has been added as an ad libitum instrumentation, to allow the hymn to be performed with full orchestra on occasion.The 4-part chorus can be sung even by a non-professional choir, and even by the audience, because of a convenient tessitura in A major in the hymn. The reduction of elements used from the 3rd movement leads - as an introduction - to the first passage of the hymn, and with material from the 4th movement it leads to the closing hymn. The hymn shows the lyrics for 3 verses.It has been orchestrated and arranged with full respect for Beethoven's intentions, but with an open mind to the needs of contemporary events and the needs of concert organizations and audiences. For the convenience of these events, heavy brass has been included for modern orchestras - even tuba which essentially doubles the original contrafagotto.This arrangement can be performed with, or without, a choir. For 2nd violins and violas of community orchestras is a notoriously difficult passage, with the length of a few bars, rewritten as ossia bars, where professional orchestras and community orchestras of advanced level can play the original passage.It is possible to set other starting points in the score (rehearsal mark C, F or H)) . The Seattle Times Reviewer Tom Keogh wrote about this arrangement, “A highlight is certainly the silky grandeur of Henry Mancini’s theme for Blake Edwards’ TV series “Mr. Luckyâ€â€¦â€ This arrangement draws inspiration from the record version with an insert Mancini wrote later. The Hammond B3 organ solo as played by the great Hollywood session musician Buddy Cole is transcribed note for note in this arrangement. This part can be alternately played by Rhodes or other keyboard. The written out solo is a suggestion and may be improvised by keyboard player. Throughout this arrangement Mancini’s voicings and orchestrational content have been preserved. Options It is possible to perform this without Hammond B3 or like keyboard solo. In one version in Mancini’s hand writing he called for a Flugal Horn solo. This could be used to replace the keyboard solo. However, a cut can also be made in lieu of solos from B to Bar 50 or D. The words 'Land of Hope and Glory' were added to the trio section in 1902 by A C Benson. This section is traditionally associated with USA high school and college graduation ceremonies. This version is for full symphony orchestra.  2 Piccolos, 2 Oboes, 2 Clarinets, 2 Bassoons,  4 horns, 2 Trumpets (or Cornets) 3 Trombones, Tuba, Organ, Harp, Percussion and Strings.  However 2nd Piccolo, 3rd and 4th Horns, Harp and Organ are all 'ad lib' and in general the arrangement is effective with the omission of some of the other wind and brass at the conductor's discretion. A full score and all parts are included with alternative Bb parts for Clarinet and Trumpet.

Thou my best Thought, by day or by night, Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my lightBe Thou My Vision is a traditional Christian hymn, which can be traced to Ireland but is now sung in English-speaking churches around the world and is often sung around St. Patrick’s Day.​The music is the Irish folk song, Slane referring to Slane Hill. Slane Hill is about ten miles from Tara in County Meath. It was on Slane Hill around 433 AD that St. Patrick defied a royal edict by lighting candles on Easter Eve. High King Logaire of Tara had decreed that no one could light a fire before Logaire began the pagan spring festival by lighting a fire on Tara Hill. Logaire was so impressed by Patrick’s devotion that, despite his defiance (or perhaps because of it), he let him continue his missionary work. The rest is history.​This arrangement is for full orchestra with two changes of key. Also available for Concert Band as well.The MP3 was recorded with NotePerformerGrade = 3 Duration = 2:22 mins.
