The words for this song were written as a poem by my late mother-in-law Olivia Morgan (94) about the love of her adopted country Australia. She originally came from her ancestral home in England when she was 14. She spent her early years in Australia on a cattle station. Many years later she wrote a poem. Olivia asked me to set her poem to music, which I did in 1990 in the style of an anthem. It has since been performed by the local symphony orchestra and full choir. This setting is for SATB Choir and Orchestra with or without piano accompaniment. The MP3 was recorded with NotePerformer… Grade = 3 Duration = 2:35 mins Full lyrics: Australia Our Land Australia great and fair Contained in azure sea Her beauty lies 'neath southern skies Enchanted wide and free From oceans pounded shore Through outback's silent space O'er desert sands and city strands She shows her varied face. Composed on the backdrop of the Russian Invasion of Ukraine and inspired by the tragically still current writings of Lesya Ukrainka, (Laryssa Kossatch, 1871–1913). In this piece the composer is extending and futher developing the musical material of her existing composition for a cappella SATB choir: A LAMENT FOR UKRAINE (2022), on Ukrainka's poetry, this time for Symphony Orchestra. Towards the end of this piece fragments of the Ukrainian National Anthem are also incorporated as an homage to the spirit and the hopes of the brave resistance of the Ukrainians. My intention is to provide a musical reminder to this tragic event of our time... Duration: ca 6'40''. The pdf file provided contains both the full score and the parts. Pulcinella - Parte 1 is a composition for symphony orchestra and SATB choir built on an old french doggerel: it's a sometimes funny, lively and bubbly piece, sometimes melancholic and poignant: exactly like the Neapolitan mask that it intends to celebrate.For its performance a complete symphonic ensemble and a chorus of great dramatic intensity are required. Correctly with the creative style of its author, Pulcinella (Polichinelle in French) also needs glockenspiel, tubular bells and xylophone, as well as a couple of harps.There is talk of «Part 1» because a sequel is currently in reworking and is intended for the subtitle of «Part 2» originally - when, at the age of 16 - Alessio Niccolai conceived it as a musical jotting, He intended it as a unique work. Since there were two main thematic guidelines, at the time of his transcription for orchestra and choir, he decided to separate them.

Ode an die Freude An 8 minutes version of the famous hymn for orchestra and/or choir with an recognizable introduction. You will need this arrangement if you want the Ode an die Freude to begin with a worthy introductionGreatly reduced version of the 3rd and 4th movements of the 9th symphony. The hymn Ode an die Freude can also be performed as a single movement. Heavy brass has been added as an ad libitum instrumentation, to allow the hymn to be performed with full orchestra on occasion.The 4-part chorus can be sung even by a non-professional choir, and even by the audience, because of a convenient tessitura in A major in the hymn. The reduction of elements used from the 3rd movement leads - as an introduction - to the first passage of the hymn, and with material from the 4th movement it leads to the closing hymn. The hymn shows the lyrics for 3 verses.It has been orchestrated and arranged with full respect for Beethoven's intentions, but with an open mind to the needs of contemporary events and the needs of concert organizations and audiences. For the convenience of these events, heavy brass has been included for modern orchestras - even tuba which essentially doubles the original contrafagotto.This arrangement can be performed with, or without, a choir.
