William Billings, the first native-born American composer, wrote Chester as a patriotic tune embracing the American disdain for their British overlords and espousing the need for freedom and self-determination. The title, merely reflects a common practice of the time of having hymn tunes named for the location of their composition, rather than for their content. The piece served as a sort of de facto national anthem in the early years of our nationhood. I am writing for the sake for the people who fight for freedom and democracy not to forget who they are, even in the middle of all the chaos that this world has brought.

It replaced Mawtini. It was written by Said Al Muzayin (a.k.a. Fata Al Thawra, boy of the revolution), while its music was composed by Egyptian maestro Ali Ismael. It was known as the anthem of the Palestinian redemption.Lyrics:The word fidÄʾīyÄ«n is the Arabic plural of fidÄʾī, which means sacrifice / one who sacrifices himself (a literal translation of fidÄʾīyÄ«n might be martyrs), and it originally comes from Persia, where the first band of fedayeen (also famous as Hashshashin) was formed by Hassan-i Sabbah. The Palestinian fedayeen (from the Arabic fidÄ'Ä«, plural fidÄ'iyÅ«n, Ùدائيون) are militants or guerrillas of a nationalist orientation from among the Palestinian people. Most Palestinians consider the fedayeen to be freedom fighters.

Published by Nagamon Publications (A0.1088189). Mykola Lysenko was a Ukrainian composer, pianist, conductor and ethnomusicologist of the late Romantic period. In his time he was the central figure of Ukrainian music, with an oeuvre that includes operas, art songs, choral works, orchestral and chamber pieces, and a wide variety of solo piano music. He is often credited with founding a national music tradition during the Ukrainian national revival. Taras Bulba is an opera in four acts with a libretto by Mykhailo Starytsky (the composer's cousin) after the novel Taras Bulba by Nikolai Gogol. The story was about a Cossack who kills his son after he betrayed those fighting for their freedom. This enjoyable and tuneful overture uses several themes from the opera, and is in the vein of other late Romantic Eastern European music.
