Watercolors of Earth and Sky is a work that celebrates the beauty and opportunity of nature through four musical movements. This work is for violin and harp (or piano). The violin part incorporates special techniques that help shape the sound and overall texture of the work. Each of the four movements presents an aspect of the composer’s experience in parks, plains, and woodlands. The music is also colored by the composer’s work as a performer of both classical and jazz music. As with other compositions by Jeffrey Hoover, there is a series of four paintings by Hoover with the same titles that are visual interpretations of the music. Images of these paintings that can be projected in performance are available directly from Hoover. This work is appropriate for performance for a broad audience.Jeffrey Hoover's works - ranging from music for soloist to symphony orchestra - have received recognition through the prestigious Trieste prize, the Russolo Competition, awards from Mu Phi Epsilon, the Lancaster Fine Arts Festival, grants, publications, fellowships, and more than 20 commissions. He is a member of the ACME roster of Mu Phi Epsilon, recognized for distinguished achievement in composition. One unique aspect of Hoover's work is when he combines his compositions with his own paintings, creating synergetic works. He is the author of The Arts and Society: Making New Worlds (Kendall Hunt Publishing).Born on September 11, 1959, in Anderson, Indiana, Jeffrey Hoover holds a Ph.D. in Fine Arts (Composition and Interdisciplinary Fine Arts) from Texas Tech University, as well as a M.M. and Bch.Sc. from Ball State University. His career in higher education has included appointments both as a faculty member and an arts administrator. I chose and arranged many well-known pieces but, unfortunately, can only publish the public domain music. They were mostly grades 1-3. I tried to arrange the parts to be meaningful but at the same time maintaining an effective, complete and pleasing sound. I often arranged parts with individuals in mind. The piano part is there for support and filling in. A simple verse and chorus song. Recorder and Violin 1 have the tune in the verse and Flutes in the chorus.

This anthem should not be confused with the National Anthem of the People’s Republic of China, known as March of the Volunteers which is the anthem of mainland China including its special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macau. The Taiwanese anthem is currently banned from performance on mainland China and strongly discouraged from being performed in Hong Kong and Macau. Ironically, the national anthem of ROC Taiwan was first used as the anthem for the whole of China when the country was controlled by the Kuomintang. However, in 1949 the Kuomintang government was ousted and relocated to the island of Taiwan to continue government using the same symbols of state that they employed in mainland China. The anthem is informally known as San Min Chu I or San Min Zhu Yi (“Three Principles of the Peopleâ€). As well as the full score (19 staves), the publication includes separate parts for flutes (unison), piccolo, 2 oboes, 2 clarinets in B flat, 2 bassoons, 4 horns in F, 3 trumpets in B flat, 3 trombones, tuba, violin 1, violin 2, violin 3 (same as viola part), viola, cello, double bass, timpani and percussion (3 players). Fat Fred and Sleazy Louise Got together one day; Fat Fred was easy to please, And she was going his way.... This is a reworking of a fun piece I originaally wrote over 30 years ago, and I have to admit that after all this time I can't actually remember why I gave it the title Sleazy Louise. But in the slow, smoochy middle section (not included in the sample recording) you'll hear that there is something a bit disreputable, down-at-heel and nicotine-stained about this lady. Scored for full orchestra, including alto and tenor saxophones, there are optional additional parts for baritone saxophone, Eb horn, treble clef trombone in Bb, easy violin and descant recorder. The violin cues in the clarinet part should only be played if the violins need reinforcing. Sleazy Louise has been performed in several countries, notably when some orchestral players fitted silly words to it and sang it to startled onlookers in Red Square, Moscow!

Composer and conductor Ronnie Hazlehurst, who also produced themes for such series as Are You Being Served?, Yes Minister, and Only Fools and Horses, created the theme for the show. The BBC initially disliked Hazlehurst's theme, feeling it was not proper for a comedy programme to have such mellow music. He was asked to play the music faster for more comedic effect but eventually his original slower version was accepted. A jauntier, upbeat version was played by a brass band in the episode Full Steam Behind. The theme, an instrumental work, featured lyrics three times. The 1981 Christmas special, Whoops, had two verses of lyrics written by Roy Clarke that were performed over the closing credits. The 1983 film, Getting Sam Home, used those two verses, with an additional two and played them over the opening credits. Another altered version was sung during Compo's funeral in the 2000 episode Just a Small Funeral. Bill Owen also wrote a different version of the lyrics but this version was never used during an episode of the show. Composing the score for each episode until his death in 2007, Hazlehurst spent an average of ten hours per episode watching scenes and making notes for music synchronisation. Hazlehurst then recorded the music using an orchestra consisting of a guitar, harmonica, two violins, a viola, cello, accordion, horn, bass, flute, and percussion. The distinctive harmonica was played by Harry Pitch, who had featured in the 1970 one-hit-wonder Groovin With Mr Bloe. The harmonica part is included in this arrangement but it is cued in the Flute 1 part if one is not available.

I arranged music for my school's musicians to come together and perform in our school concerts. I chose and arranged many well-known pieces but, unfortunately, can only publish the public domain music. They were mostly grades 1-3. I tried to arrange the parts to be meaningful but at the same time maintaining an effective, complete and pleasing sound. I often arranged parts with individuals in mind. The piano part is there for support and filling in. The melody is in the Flute, Recorder and Violin1.

Years later, I composed a musical work for piano and orchestra - a creative and classic concerto that captures the Great Wall's grandeur and majestic attraction.My first visit to the Great Wall of China was in 1983 while engaged as a pianist onboard a cruise ship that sailed the waters of Asia. My first impression seeing the Great Wall and the scenic landscape surrounding it, was one of awe and amazement.At that time, I did not realize the lasting effect this memorable attraction would have on me. Inspired and motivated by several cherished Chinese excursions to the Great Wall during my cruise ship engagement, I began the monumental task of scoring music for piano and orchestra several years later. An excerpt from 2008 Music Teacher of California Magazine review states “…The Great Wall Concerto is pleasant to listen to and has a retro 1940’s movie soundtrack mood about it - Rachmaninoff style chords against melodies in the strings...Listening to this piece, I imagined a film starring Joan Fontaine and Claude Rains as star crossed lovers fleeing their respective spouses on a visit to China.â€After many years of offering the score directly to Music Directors around the world, I am now publishing THE GREAT WALL CONCERTO with Sheet Music Plus and Sheet Music Direct.THE GREAT WALL CONCERTO is an ideal work for professional, semi-professional, pops, college and university orchestras as well as community orchestras. It is one of the closest arrangements for tenor and orchestra to this version of Be My Love. Full Score, and Parts are included.
