Full Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1018940 Composed by Benjamin Harry Sajo. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 13 pages. Benjamin Sajo #6078661. Published by Benjamin Sajo (A0.1018940). Programme Notes: This composition was written to be considered for pairing alongside Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony #3, the Eroica, but can stand on its own virtues as an intense and slow meditation on heroism. The music is like a boiling pot on the stove that’s just began to overflow its bubbles. The first part of the title, kommos, is a Classical Greek term from Attic dramaturgy, literally meaning striking but specifically referring to beating oneself up during lamentation--ripping at the hair, gouging out the eyes--like Oedipus--slapping the forehead, and other acts amid moments of extreme emotional turmoil. For example, from Aeschylus's play Agamemnon, a character bewails: Apollo, Apollo! God of the Ways, my destroyer! For you have destroyed me-and utterly [...]What is this fresh woe [...]what monstrous, monstrous horror, beyond love's enduring, beyond all remedy? And help stands far away! We can easily imagine physical accompaniment to the script; rather than bottling up the pain, the hero lets it all explosively come out.  The second part of the title, When the world moved on, is an epigraph taken from American author Stephen King’s The Dark Tower epic. The primary setting of the novel, a world similar in many ways to our own, is experiencing a dark age where the glorious past is all but a distant memory and all good things are referred to wistfully as occurring, When the world moved on. Yet, the main protagonist, Roland, the last gunslinger, emphasizes that it is not just a figure of speech, but the literal distances between destinations have increased, the positions of the stars have changed, as well as the occurrence of other unnatural phenomena. The world has become a gulf of isolation from all corners. Taken together, this piece is a lamentation for when the world moved on. Truly completed on Yom Kippur during the Covid-19 Pandemic, being unable to fast or go to synagogue, this is my atonement.About the Composer: Benjamin Sajo (b. 1988) is a Canadian composer of contemporary classical music, as well as an educator. Since developing a fiercely independent creative voice upon the completion of his studies at Western (2010) and McGill Universities (2013), he continues to find inspiration from the intersection of mythology, art, and nature upon the contemporary human experience. In 2019, he released his premiere album of original music, The Great War Sextet: Canadian War Poetry with Trombone & Strings, with support from the Ontario Arts Council. He is a member of SOCAN and the League of Canadian Composers.

Programme notes: Although John Barry had written 50% of the original 'James Bond' theme for 1962's Dr. No (and orchestrated the whole thing), he felt the need to create a new piecefor 007's second on-screen outing that was entirely his own. Using Elmer Bernstein's'Magnificent Seven' theme as inspiration, he crafted a tune that was full of adventure and awe. Although the '007' theme presented here was not adopted by the cinema-goers as the definitive Bond music, it demonstrates Barry's ability to orchestrate and compose in the style of the classic 40s & 50s Hollywood pictures. The theme has been used in several Bondmovies since - mainly as a secondary theme for scenes that wish to depict Bond's heroism more than his swagger and charisma.<br> <br> Conductor's Notes: When the strings take the melody at 'D', they should 'soar'! While the piece lacks melodic or harmonic development, it does show off each section of the orchestra.Make sure all dynamic markings are strictly adhered to as the melody may get overpowered otherwise. The lead trumpet part is a transcription of Derek Watkins' original performance and is very high in places. In the event of having no harpist, the glissandos may be played on a transposed electronic keyboard so thatthe white notes are tuned to a E Major scale (transpose up a major 3rd). The rest of the harp part should be played on a non-transposed keyboard. The piece should fade out to nothing so make sure all eyes areon the conductor as they will need to guide each player through the dynamic changes from 'G' onwards.Programme notes: Although John Barry had written 50% of the original 'James Bond' theme for 1962's Dr. No (and orchestrated the whole thing), he felt the need to create a new piecefor 007's second on-screen outing that was entirely his own. Full Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1031686 Composed by Austin Wintory. Contemporary. Score and parts. 39 pages. Austin Wintory #3512243. Published by Austin Wintory (A0.1031686). EP!C!!! is an overture-sized orchestral work, originally commissioned by the West Michigan Symphony in 2016. It is intended as a higher energy opener or Act 1 closer. Program notes:Entirely by mistake, EP!C!!! is study in conflict. The piece began with a simple premise: compose a work which teases some of the pervasive clichés of today’s musical landscape (particularly the Hollywood or so-called media music scenes). Those clichés are primarily two gestures: 1) a progression of chords, often called the Chords of Destiny (consisting of i – VI – III – VIII) and 2) an endlessly repeating minor third ostinato. The conflict emerged internally when, after multiple false starts, I would quickly start to hate the piece because it felt like the clichés were being presented whole cloth, without the slightest sense of irony. I became deeply paranoid that the music wasn’t in on its own joke. When I would reverse course, it felt condescending, as though it were declaring from some erudite ivory tower that it was above those gestures. The trouble particularly with the latter is that clichés become so for a reason; something genuinely compelling becomes so ubiquitous that it loses some of the freshness, but that doesn’t erase what initially made it compelling. So the piece needed to somehow make fun of the fact that these gestures are cliché, while not dismissing their intrinsic value. And indeed, to celebrate that value! It took a long time to find my place between those two extremes, and ultimately I think the music that emerged is actually the conflict itself manifest. The two gestures are this constant presence, almost like a seductive temptation, that are initially regarded as distractions, but eventually become the music’s core. It’s as though the music finally decided to just relent and find something to truly love and celebrate within these overwrought ideas, haters be damned. However, for the sake of total clarity of intention, I couldn’t resist some on-the-nose tongue-in-cheek. The little cameo of Haydn’s lulling 94th Symphony 2nd movement tune is my way of saying you think classical music is epic??? THEN LISTEN TO THIS SH*T!!! before inevitably popping open a Mountain Dew and snowboarding into an avalanche.- Austin Wintory, October 21, 2016

Montenegrin National Anthem for Symphony Orchestra (Kt Olympic Anthem Series)

Full Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.746971 Composed by Montenegrin folk song. Arranged by Keith Terrett. 20th Century,Multicultural,Patriotic,Praise & Worship,Traditional,World. 27 pages. Keith Terrett #5205655. Published by Keith Terrett (A0.746971). The National Anthem of Montenegro arranged for Symphony Orchestra. There are versions for Brass Quintet & String Orchestra in my on-line stores.Oj, svijetla majska zoro (Montenegrin Cyrillic: „Ој, Ñвијетла мајÑка зоро, trans. Oh, Bright Dawn of May) is the official National anthem of Montenegro adopted in 2004. Before becoming the anthem, it was a popular folk song of the Montenegrins, with many variations of its text. The oldest one is dated to the 2nd half of the 19th century, known as Oh, Bright Dawn of Heroism, oh!, a popular Montenegrin folk song.It was played in public for the first time in 1863 in the national theater in Belgrade. It was a component song of the Battle of Grahovo or blood feud in Montenegro (Бој на Грахову или крвна оÑвета у Црној Гори) heroic play in three parts. It is unknown if the text’s authors are also the play’s, namely the following Montenegrin composer/writers: the father of Marko Car Jovan Car and an unknown Obrad Vitković. The play and the Montenegrin folk song was also played/sung in the National Theater again in 1870 and 1876. Its first record in Montenegro itself dates to 1887, when it was included into the regular school program of Montenegrin national songs for pupils in the 3rd grade. It was reconfirmed in the teacher’s plan for Montenegrin schools of 1888, which speculates that it must have been an established folk song for decades by then.Sekule Drljević, party strongman of a minor political party which was active in the Yugoslavian Kingdom in Montenegro known as the Montenegrin Federalist Party, rewrote the text and published it in 1937 in the book of then’s Croatian writer of Montenegrin origins Savić Marković Å tedimlija known as Crvena Hrvatska (Red Croatia), which confounded the thesis not of a Serb ethnic origin of the Montenegrins, which was the dominant one back then, but rather from the Croats. Its name was Eternal Ours… (VjeÄna naÅ¡a). When Nikola Hercigonja wrote down Oh, Bright Dawn of May shortly after WWII ended after 1945, he erroneously concluded that Drljević was the original wholesale author of this song, which also led to its considerable decline in popularity as a Montenegrin folk song altogether. The song survived until today under various names as a popular Montenegrin folk song under the name Oh, Bright Dawn of May (Oj svijetla majska zoro). This version of the song has been one of the several versions proposed in 1993 during the first discussion on the official anthem, however, on which there was no consensus because of the disputed melodic value.Need an anthem fast? They are ALL in my store! All my anthem arrangements are also available for Orchestra, Recorders, Saxophones, Wind, Brass and Flexible band. If you need an anthem urgently for an instrumentation not in my store, let me know via e-mail, and I will arrange it for you FOC if possible! keithterrett@gmail.com Love national anthems, then join me on twitter, facebook, instagram & soundcloud for frequent updates on my Olympic anthems!

CONJUNCTION: The Christmas Star of 2020

Full Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.976734 Composed by Robert Myers. 20th Century,Christmas,Contemporary. Score and parts. 99 pages. WheatMyer Music #6496769. Published by WheatMyer Music (A0.976734). CONJUNCTION interprets the convergence of Jupiter and Saturn near the end of the year 2020 as a celestial metaphor for the good news of Christ's birth in a replay of the Star of Bethlehem. Hence, its subtitle of The Christmas Star of 2020. The music, along with narration from selected Old and New Testament scriptures, delivers a message of hope amid the turmoil and chaos of current times. It's written for smaller concert bands hungry for challenging music. Ample cues and doubling allow for flexible instrumentation while mixed meters, varying tempos and textures, and interesting solo lines provide opportunities for strong players to shine. CONJUNCTION is also available with strings for orchestra.PROGRAM NOTES:2020 is widely characterized for its maladies: murders, burning cities, riots, a pandemic, economic shocks, and political turmoil. For some of us, it also held personal tragedy such as my brother’s passing from COVID. But, 2020 also brought a sign of hope, namely the celestial phenomenon known as the Great Conjunction of 2020. For earth-bound observers, this was the closest approach of Jupiter and Saturn in almost 400 years as they appeared to almost touch in the early evening sky to produce the most brilliant evening star of our lifetimes. The occurrence of the event in November-December neatly coincided with the Advent season, peaking just before Christmas Day. One could hardly fail to note the parallels with the Christmas star of Matthew’s gospel which gave the conjunction its alternate name, the Christmas Star of 2020. Thus, this star spoke, to those with ears to hear, the same message the prophet Isaiah wrote about the coming Messiah, The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light. This star thus served to remind us that the LORD has not rejected us; He will show His favor again; His love has not vanished; His promises have not failed; He has not forgotten to be merciful or compassionate; and we are called to remember His mighty deeds (Psalm 77). CONJUNCTION: The Christmas Star of 2020 is inspired by these particulars. For the music, I looked to Gustav Holst’s The Planets for themes that would portray Jupiter and Saturn’s pas de deux. I selected several motives from the corresponding movements mixed and matched in sometimes easily recognized quotations and other times in heavily camouflaged derivations. An exuberant polyphonic passage recaps themes from both Jupiter and Saturn when the music resolves from uncertainty into hopefulness. While Holst’s motives provide CONJUNCTION’s foundation I also used Handel’s Messiah for transitory and climactic material. You will hear his The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light in transitions and a short trombone solo. And a re-harmonization of the opening line from For unto us a child is born brings the music to a joyous climax.Although the music stands firmly on its own, I elected to incorporate some narrative to make the musical sentiment explicit. In a commentary on 2020’s grim events, I took adaptations of Habakkuk 1:2-4 and 2 Tim 3:1-4 and set them over Saturn’s plodding and ominous harmonies. Contrasting replies shimmer with hope as the narration melds Isaiah 9:2 and Luke 1:78-79 over another Saturn motive set against pitch sets from Jupiter’s main hymn theme. Still, it’s the music that tells the story of the Christmas Star of 2020.Please visit my website for a complete score preview: https://wheatmyermusic.com/conjunction-the-christmas-star-of-2020I feel somewhat guilty making claim to this music as almost all the building blocks are taken from other composers. But the end result is neither a medley, nor an arrangement, rather it is something clearly new, so I call it my own with deep respect to those giants on whose shoulders I stand.Robert MyersS.D.G.

Franco Esteve #722619. Published by Franco Esteve (A0.1121448). About Contagion, the music From quarantine life, something painful this way comes, a new, pandemic inspired, life soundtrack… Contagion is a moment, an interruption, signifying an expression of feelings and music that the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic and quarantine brought to light. It’s a contemporary classical life-track, serving as a soundtrack to the contagion, to its spread, to its mystery, its attack on the body, to our losses during the Covid-19 pandemic and to our future beyond them. As the virus flooded every news outlet, Contagion became an interruption, a mysterious invader, taking over everything, needing to be expressed. It’s a “lifetrack†or “life soundtrack†with its contemporary classical orchestral sounds expressing the feelings and experiences of those first few months of dread and quarantine, through which many of us felt the fear of it all and the actual loss of loved ones. Original Album Release date: May 14th, 2020 Genre: Contemporary Classical / Life Soundtrack • The album length is 9 minutes and 33 seconds About the Score This version of the score includes ALL 5 songs in the album and the instrument selection varies in accordance with the specific composition of each of the songs. The instruments used are: Horn Section, Soprano Trumpet, Bass Drum, Piano, Harp, Tuba, Wine Glasses, Cabasa, Triangle, Violins I, Violins II, Horn, Trumpet, Trombone, Timpani, Crash Cymbals, Cello Section, Trumpet Section, Gong, Cello Solo. I can imagine the songs can work adapted in a number of ways by different groups or a very advanced group of students. It'll be fun to hear how others interpret them. Music included In the package, I've included the full album's music score with each of the individual songs and their instrument parts and the original published songs as a single HQ MP3 (320 kbps), so players can get a feel for my intentions when composing each one. Full Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1317749 By Keith Terrett. By KÄrlis Baumanis. Arranged by Keith Terrett. 20th Century,Patriotic,Praise & Worship,Traditional. 26 pages. Keith Terrett #906430. Published by Keith Terrett (A0.1317749). He national anthem of Latvia arranged for SymphonyOrchestra. The music and lyrics were written in 1873 by KÄrlis Baumanis, a teacher, who was part of the Young Latvian nationalist movement. It has been speculated that Baumanis may have borrowed part of the lyrics from a popular song which was sung to tune of God Save the Queen, modified them and set them to music of his own. Baumanis's lyrics were different from the modern ones: he used the term Baltics synonymously and interchangeably with Latvia and Latvians, so Latvia was actually mentioned only at the beginning of the first verse. Later the term Latvia was removed and replaced with Baltics to avoid a ban on the song. This has led to the misapprehension that the term Latvia was not part of the song until 1920, when it was chosen as national anthem and the word Baltics was replaced with Latvia.During the annexation of Latvia by the Soviet Union, the singing of Dievs, svÄ“tÄ« Latviju! was banned. The Soviet republic of Latvia had its own anthem. Dievs, svÄ“tÄ« Latviju! was restored as the state anthem of Latvia on 15 February 1990, a very short period before Latvian independence was restored. The anthem's tune was modernized with a new F major version that is used since 2014, formerly a G major version was used on LTV's sign-on and sign-offs daily from 2011 up to 2013.For more of my original music, great arrangements and all the national anthems of the world, check out my on-line stores:http://www.scoreexchange.com/profiles/keith_terrethttp://www.sheetmusicplus.com/search?Ntt=keith+terrettNeed an anthem fast? Full Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1284734 Composed by Ennio Morricone. Arranged by John Langley (at Studio Orchestrations). 20th Century,Broadway,Chamber,Film/TV,Musical/Show. Score and Parts. 14 pages. Www.studio-orchestrations.com #875911. Published by www.studio-orchestrations.com (A0.1284734). This is one of Ennio Morricone's most evocative and yearning themes from the Kevin Costner and Sean Connery classic THE UNTOUCHABLES directed by Brian De Palma. The theme comes where Malone has been brutally/mortally shot and wounded and gives Elliott Ness, his friend, the critical information to enable him to arrest Al Capone's bookeeper before dying. Malone's murder is one of the most unexpected and shocking moments on celluloid when it happens but Morricone's theme is full of pathos and lament for a much loved character. For your event/concert of film music, this is a short but always moving piece that hopefully will fit around your other programming ideas. In a market where loud film music is all the rage, this offers a beautiful sorbet to an evening of movie classics. This arrangement is written for Solo Alto Saxophone (Default solo instrument)Solo Alto Flute* (alternative solo instrument)Acoustic guitar (or Harp)*Strings* Morricone does use Alto Flute to play a version of this theme earlier in the soundtrack and this can make a contemplative and quiet version of the same music so your group can choose instrumentation, esepcially where no saxophone is available in your group or concert; also if your group doesn't have a guitar then this can be played by Harp as well.

Published by Christopher Brown (A0.747214). About the song: In Psalm 22:22, David writes, I will praise You to all my brothers; I will stand up before the congregation and testify to the wonderful things You have done. Again, in Psalm 66:16, the psalmist says, Come and listen, all you who fear God, and I will tell you what He did for me. Jesus, after healing a man with a demon, commands the man to go home... and report the great things the Lord has done for you, and how He had mercy on you. The testimony of a life changed by God's love and His great mercy is a powerful tool for both spreading the Good News and resisting temptation. It is good for us to remember and proclaim, both personally and collectively, the great things the Lord has done. Can be performed with piano accompaniment only, OR with additional band members (rhythm chart included), OR with full orchestra. Please Note:You can purchase individual copies of the choral score separately on Sheet Music Plus. Torn between love and financial security, an unlikely opportunity arises when a dying rich Occidental, Justin (Tenor) reveals his romantic interest in Kai. The couple plot a pretense to inherit Justin's money and be free to marry and live together. This aria occurs in Act I, Scene 2. Justin (tenor) has just hired a group of porters, including Kai (bass), to guide him through the jungles of the island to photograph the mythical bird, the Scarlet Messenger. Although the men insist it is a legend, Justin inspires them to persevere with him. Aria Libretto, Justin (tenor singing): From the hillside, something breaks free. Is it real? Or just illusion? Oh how I have to see you, feel that beauty. Upon your wings our souls must one day fly to heaven. Never doubt that you can find him, hiding among your dreams. For when you feel all hope is gone, that's when you spot his red wings, fiery bright. (to the group of porters) So come with me, all's not in vain. It is real, just not illusion. The day is fading fast, oh, so quickly. We'll be the first to see that blazing path of fire. The Scarlet Messenger! Oh how that would be the greatest gift of my life. It was written down in 1988 when I was 19, but had been with me in my head since I was about 8. Back then I had no idea how to write down full orchestral music, but after all my teenage years spent feeding off the Great Masters and studying their brilliant orchestrations in scores, I finally made an attempt at notating this florid little piece when I was at college (London College of Music) in 1988. Not wishing to waste it, I have now revised it and finally prepared its score and parts for performance.InstrumentationPiccolo, 2 flutes, 2 oboes, 2 Bflat clarinets, 2 bassoons, 2 French horns in F, 2 Bflat Trumpets, 2 Trombones, Bass trombone, Glock, 2 harps, celesta, large string section to accommodate divisi into 3 for all except the basses.Duration – 3 minutes approx. All the parts are fairly straightforward, except the harps and celesta, which I believe to be of some challenge. If it was to find a place in a concert programme, I believe it would be a lovely encore – a really loving way to send your audience home from a great night out. A thank you to the audience. A Good Night To All kind of piece, full of love and delight.

Full Orchestra - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1081697 Composed by Heinrich Ignaz Franz von Biber. Arranged by Joshua Choe. Baroque,Classical,Easter,Sacred. Score and parts. 95 pages. JMJ Arrangements #685818. Published by JMJ Arrangements (A0.1081697). [S]tanding by the cross of Jesus were his mother, and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus saw his mother, and the disciple whom he loved standing near, he said to his mother, 'Woman, behold, your son!' Then he said to the disciple, 'Behold, your mother!' And from that hour the disciple took her to his own home. After this Jesus, knowing that all was now finished, said (to fulfil the scripture), 'I thirst.' A bowl full of vinegar stood there; so they put a sponge full of the vinegar on hyssop and held it to his mouth. When Jesus had received the vinegar, he said, 'It is finished'; and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. Since it was the day of Preparation, in order to prevent the bodies from remaining on the cross on the sabbath (for that sabbath was a high day), the Jews asked Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away. So the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first, and of the other who had been crucified with him; but when they came to Jesus and saw that he was already dead, they did not break his legs. But one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and at once there came out blood and water. He who saw it has borne witness—his testimony is true, and he knows that he tells the truth—that you also may believe. For these things took place that the scripture might be fulfilled, 'Not a bone of him shall be broken.' And again another scripture says, 'They shall look on him whom they have pierced.' --John 19:25-37.

Full Orchestra - Intermediate - Digital Download Composed by Manuel de Espinosa de los Monteros (1730-1810). Arranged by Keith Terrett. Classical Period, European, Patriotic. 30 pages. Published by Music for all Occasions
The Spanish National Anthem arranged for full Symphony Orchestra, there is a short version in my store in case you need it! Just need a sporting event now such as an Olympics!<br> <br> The Marcha Real (Spanish pronunciation: [ˈmartʃa reˈal], "Royal March") is the national anthem of Spain. It is one of only three national anthems (along with that of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Kosovo) in the world to have no official lyrics.<br> <br> One of the oldest in the world, the anthem was first printed in a document dated 1761 and entitled Libro de la Ordenanza de los Toques de Pífanos y Tambores que se tocan nuevamente en la Ynfant° Española (Book of the Ordenance of Newly Played Military Drum and Fife Calls by The Spanish Infantry ), by Manuel de Espinosa. Here it is entitled La Marcha Granadera ("March of the Grenadiers"). There is written its score on this book. According to this document, Manuel de Espinosa de los Monteros is the composer.<br> <br> There is a false belief that Marcha Real’s author was Frederick II of Prussia, a great lover of music. This belief started in 1861 when it appears for the first time publied in La España militar (The Militar Spain). In 1864, the colonel Antonio Vallecillo publishes the history in the diary El Espíritu Público (The Public Spirit), making the supposed Prussian origin of Marcha Real popular. According to Vallecillo, the anthem was a gift from Frederick II to the soldier Juan Martín Álvarez de Sotomayor, who was serving in the Prussian Court to learn the military tactics developed by Frederick II’s army, under orders of King Charles III. In 1868 the history is published in Los Sucesos, changing the destinatary of the gift with Pedro Pablo Abarca de Bolea, Count of Aranda. The myth was picked up like this in different publications of 1884 and 1903, until being included in 1908 in the Enciclopedia Espasa.<br> <br> According to the tradition in 1770, Charles III declared the Marcha de Granaderos as the official Honor March, and with that formalized the habit of playing it in public and solemn acts. It became the official anthem during Isabel II’s reign.<br> <br> After the 1868 Revolution, General Prim convoked a national contest to create an official anthem, but it was declared deserted, advising the jury that Marcha de Granaderos was considered as such. By Alfonso XIII’s time, it was established by a Royal Circular Order (27 August 1908) that interpreted the harmonization of the march done by Bartolomé Pérez Casas, Major Music of the Royal Corps of Halberdier Guards. During the Second Republic, Himno de Riego was adopted as official anthem, although after the Spanish Civil War, Marcha Real returned to be used as anthem, sometimes sung with the verses written by the poet José María Pemán in 1928.<br> <br> The actual symphonic version of the Marcha Real that replaces the Pérez Casas one, belongs to maestro Francisco Grau and is the official one after the Royal Decree of 10 October 1997, when the Kingdom of Spain bought the author rights of the Marcha Real, then belonging to Pérez Casas’ Heirs. According to the Royal Decree 1560/1997, the anthem should have a tone of B major and a tempo of 76 bpm (♩=76), with a form of AABB and a duration of 52 seconds.<br> <br> Under the Trienio Liberal (1820-1823), the First Spanish Republic (1873–74) (when it enjoyed of a co-officiality) and the Second Spanish Republic (1931–1939), El Himno de Riego replaced La Marcha Real as the national anthem of Spain. At the conclusion of the Civil War, however, Francisco Franco restored La Marcha Real as the country’s national anthem, under its old title of La Marcha Granadera.<br> <br> Interpretation and etiquette:<br> <br> Military bands of the Spanish Armed Forces and the National Police Corps of Spain and civilian Marching bands and Concert bands play the B flat-major version of the anthem adapted for wind bands (as arranged by Francisco Grau), and playing the A Major version is optional.<br> <br> The bugle call "To the Colors" in Spain is the version played by Bugle bands in Spanish churches in religious occasions and processions organized by civil groups and the parishes. Various versions adapted for the drum and the bugle are used, even though brass instruments play the anthem as well. But in some bugle bands, the A flat version of the anthem (the old official one, adapted for the bugle) is played. Only a bugle call is sounded when the B flat version is played.<br> <br> Being the National Anthem, and in honor of the King and Queen of Spain, it’s a common practice for all to stand once it is played. Even though it is also played in church events, respect for the King and Queen (and the Royal Family as well) is required by everyone in attendance. As it happens civilians stand at attention while those in uniform salute when not in formation.<br> <br> The current official version, as described in Royal Decree 1560/1997, is a sixteen-bar long phrase, divided in two sections, each one is made up of four repeated bars (AABB form). Tempo is set to ♩= 76 and key to B flat.<br> <br> The long, complete version is the honors music for the King, while a shorter version without the repetitions is performed for the President of the Government of Spain, the Prince of Asturias, or during sporting events.<br> <br> There are also three official arrangements: one for orchestra, another for military band, and a third for organ, written by Francisco Grau Vegara and requested by the Government of Spain. All in all, there are six different official adaptations, for each arrangement and length. They all were recorded by the Spanish National Orchestra and the Spanish Royal Guard Band as an official recording and released on compact disc for a limited period of time.<br> <br> As the harmonization of the Marcha Real was written by Bartolomé Pérez Casas in the early 1900s, the copyright has not yet expired. The government bought it from Pérez Casas’ estate in 1997 for 130,000,000 pesetas (~ € 781,316) to avoid future legal problems. Until it expires, the copyright belongs to the Ministry of Culture and collecting societies charge copyright fees, which has led to criticism.<br> <br> As a result, many different harmonisations have been devised by performers to avoid paying. Nonetheless, the rights to the 1997 Francisco Grau revision were transferred to the government at no charge, although they were not placed in the public domain.<br> <br> Need an anthem fast? They are ALL in my store! All my anthem arrangements are also available for Orchestra, Recorders, Saxophones, Wind, Brass and Flexible band. Program note: My love affair with the city of Rome dates back to the year 1986-87 when I spent just under eleven months at the American Academy in Rome on a Rome Prize Fellowship. During that Fellowship year I was very much inspired by the beauty and culture of the Eternal City, which resulted in a number of works that continue to resonate with me: Twenty-nine Fireflies Book II for solo piano; Concertino for trumpet, timpani and strings; Apples … six dreams by Richard Kenney; String Quartet No 5 … Four Birthdays; and Chôrinhos … opus 38. Since 1997 my wife, Kristin Beckwith, and I have returned to the American Academy in Rome almost every year. I would compose in the morning and then my wife and I would go to our usual haunt at Bar G. for cappuccini and cornetti. And then we’d go to the local bakery and street markets and buy stuff for lunch. In the afternoon we would wander into the city to go shopping and sight-seeing. In the evenings we would dine at one of our favorite local trattorias. Life could not be better in Rome. Musically speaking, several important works in my portfolio had their beginnings during these sojourns at the Academy , among them Yo Picasso, Flauta Carioca, Mass for the Holy Year 2000, Symphony No. 5 … Utopia Parkway, Twenty-nine Fireflies Books IV & V, and Piano Concerto … Mozartiana. Just before the 2008 recession, clarinetist extraordinaire Jonathan Cohler asked me to write a symphony for the inaugural concert of a new orchestra he was planning to create. I came up with Symphony No. 7 … Roman Holidays, my give back to the city of Rome – a compendium of favorite places that continue to live in my thoughts and musings. Although the work is heard in four movements, it is actually divided into seven sections, as in the seven hills of Rome. 1. Prelude: Fontana Paola and the panoramic view of the city of Rome from that vantage point. 2. First interlude: La Befana festivities at Piazza Navona. The Protestant Cemetery in Testaccio at night under a full moon. 3. Second interlude: Fontana delle Tartughe in the Jewish Ghetto. Bernini’s Apollo and Daphne at the Galleria Borghese. 4. Third interlude: Bernini’s Beata Ludovica Albertoni in Trastevere. The Spanish Steps and the view of Rome from the French Academy at Villa Medici. NB: Unfortunately, thanks to the recession, Roman Holidays never saw the light of day. This year (2013) I decided to revisit the work, which lay dormant for 5 five years, and saw that it could use a little tweaking. The new version is essentially the same, musically speaking. I reduced the orchestration a bit (two horns instead of four, and two trumpets instead of three) and added more heft to the lower brass. I completely rewrote the tune for the floating foreign ghosts at the Protestant Cemetery. I also shortened the work by about three minutes by cutting some repeats. Classical,Contemporary,Patriotic. Score and parts. 41 pages. BJE Music #638998. Published by BJE Music (A0.1033685). The words for this song were written as a poem by my late mother-in-law Olivia Morgan (94) about the love of her adopted country Australia. She originally came from her ancestral home in England when she was 14. She spent her early years in Australia on a cattle station. Many years later she wrote a poem. Olivia asked me to set her poem to music, which I did in 1990 in the style of an anthem. It has since been performed by the local symphony orchestra and full choir. This setting is for SATB Choir and Orchestra with or without piano accompaniment. The MP3 was recorded with NotePerformer… Grade = 3 Duration = 2:35 mins Full lyrics: Australia Our Land Australia great and fair Contained in azure sea Her beauty lies 'neath southern skies Enchanted wide and free From oceans pounded shore Through outback's silent space O'er desert sands and city strands She shows her varied face. Where high the eagle flies And mighty rivers run There rolling plains of golden grain Reflect the west'ring sun In bushland's shaded scene By mountain's dreaming haze There bird-land calls cascading falls Combine their songs of praise. Our country's bounteous gifts Extend from shore to shore In history's place, Her pride and grace Will live forever more This land that keeps our heart Afar though we may roam On land or sea Yet still to be Australia our dear home. (Repeat last two lines) Sung by Christine Neaves (Daughter of Brendan and Glenys Elliget) Words by Olivia Morgan (Mother of Glenys Elliget) Music by Brendan Elliget Copyright © 1996 BJE Music You can listen to the Vocal version at: https://www.bjemusic.com/store/p149/Australia%2C_Our_Land_-_SATB_Choir_or_Solo_Voice_with_Piano_PDF.html.

Published by MyMusicScores.com (A0.1345010). Spohr Violin Concerto No. 8 is a remarkable work by the German composer and violinist Louis Spohr (1784-1859). It is one of the most unusual and innovative concertos ever written, as it combines the solo violin with an orchestra in a dramatic and expressive way. The concerto is in the form of an operatic aria, with the violinist portraying a character who sings about his love for a woman. The first movement is lyrical and tender, while the second movement is lively and playful. The third movement is a stormy and passionate finale, where the violinist confronts his rival for the woman’s affection. Spohr wrote this concerto in 1816, when he was already famous as a composer and conductor. This edition presents the authentic Clarinet in C and Horn in A parts, alongside alternative versions for clarinet in B flat and horns in F.The PDF contains the score and all parts.

An arrangement of the national anthem of China arranged for Symphony Orchestra. There are alternative versions for Symphony and Brass Quintet in my stores The "March of the Volunteers"[5][6] is the national anthem of the People's Republic of China, including its special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macau. Unlike most previous Chinese state anthems, it is written entirely in the vernacular, rather than in Classical Chinese. Its lyrics were composed as a dramatic poem by the poet and playwright, the Japan-educated Tian Han in 1934 and set to music by Nie Er from Yunnan Province the next year for the film Children of Troubled Times. It was adopted as the PRC's provisional anthem in 1949 in place of the "Three Principles of the People" of the Republic of China and the Communist "Internationale". When Tian Han was imprisoned during the Cultural Revolution in the 1960s, the march was briefly and unofficially replaced by "The East Is Red", then played without words, then played with altered words. Restored to its original version, the "March of the Volunteers" was raised to official status in 1982, adopted by Hong Kong and Macau upon their restorations to China in 1997 and 1999, respectively, and included in the Chinese Constitution's Article 136 in 2004 (Article 141 in 2018).
