This is my arrangement of Mozart's Sonata for 2 Pianos in D, K. 448, complete 3 movements, for 1 piano, 4 hands. Since it isn't so easy finding a hall or any place where there are 2 pianos laying around I decided to make my own arrangement of this marvelous composition for 1 piano, four hands. I tried to be faithful to the original music as much as possible. Each of the movements are also available separately as well. Enjoy.

My goal is to create something that sounds beautiful as a standalone piece of music and, most importantly, that it also makes pianistic sense. Each of my arrangements is made for a specific student, so the results will vary in terms of playing level. Most decisions are based on their current skills and abilities, or where I would like for them to be when they complete the piece. This arrangement was made for two siblings, 10 and 12 at the time! I would consider them both early intermediate, easily playing at Elementary IV NFMC class. This piece was quite the challenge at first. There are some tricky sections with unison runs. Playing cleanly is important here. Pedal should not be used very much except were notated. A definite crowd pleaser. (If you listen to the video, those are my students performing at an Honors Recital—very proud of them!) Pedal and fingering suggestions are included.

Published by Intensely Pleasant Music (A0.890702). Changes for twenty nifty fingers (1995) duet 3 minutes This is the ‘simplest’ piece of the collection, and the oldest. I wrote it during my undergraduate years at Bristol University in response to a task set by my then composition tutor Wyndham Thomas. The given title Changes refers to the inspiration of the peeling of church bells – ringing the changes - where there is a simple ostinato pattern that undergoes a gradual metamorphosis. This piece starts with the skeleton of this short repeated phrase (in 14/8) which gradually fills out, and then moves through two enormously tricky sections of phasing - in which the two pianists have overlapping bars of different lengths (14 and 15 quavers). The duet finally builds to a dramatic climax in the third minute. So, this is a short minimalist piece, ultimately with its technical roots in American minimalism, although the material was more immediately inspired by the piano style of my older brothers, in particular my eldest brother Antony’s piano solo piece Dance of the Redeemed Creation - the style of which can be traced in many of my piano compositions. In fact, it has so many different harmonies and counter-melodies that I felt we needed four hands to fully capture the complexity of this song!This piano duet is meant for the performers to share one piano (but can be performed on two, since some notes are overlapping or you play at the same time). If one player is more advanced or experienced than the other, I recommend them to play the treble parts since they require a little more skill. Although, they are relatively equal considering the bass parts carry the groovy bass line. This piece is perfect for recreational use. AT THE EDGE OF A SPIRAL - for Piano Four-Hands (2004) DURATION: 10 Minutes PROGRAM NOTES: The composer writes about his work: At the Edge of a Spiral for one piano, four hands is a short journey of a built intensity. It is based on few fragments, motives that are lit in different light each time. The piece starts slow, but increases its intensity and speed as it progresses, utilizing the same motives. While composing the piece, I heard about a young man that threw himself to the river. I tried to imagine that went in his mind and what brought to this dead-end. And again the idea of a built intensity, obsessive and uncompromising came to my mind. At the very end of the piece, there is a sudden drop of intensity followed by a music box passage, as if describing what is going on in the person's mind right after the jump, right after reaching the edge of his life's spiral. At the Edge of a Spiral was written and dedicated for the Silver-Garburg Piano Duo - Sivan Silver and Gil Garburg. It was funded by the generous support of Miriam and Eliezer Benbassat.
