The work was titled Partita for Two Pianos, but only the manuscript for the Nocturne was found. It appears that Tailleferre intended to adapt her Partita for Solo Piano for a piano duo for her friends Gold and Fizdale. It is likely that Gold and Fizdale arranged for the publication of two works (the Partita for Solo Piano and the serial Solo Clarinet Sonata) during the 1960s with the firm Rongwen Music, which was later acquired by Broude Brothers Limited.
