Saxophone Ensemble,Woodwind Ensemble Alto Saxophone,Baritone Saxophone,Soprano Saxophone,Tenor Saxophone - Level 3 - SKU: A0.1169670 Composed by Simon Franglen. Arranged by Lisa Ochoco. Contemporary,Film/TV. 20 pages. Lisa L Ochoco #770032. Published by Lisa L Ochoco (A0.1169670). Avatar: The Way of Water, is the long-awaited sequel to the award-winning film from 2009. The soundtrack for the new film was written by Simon Franglen, who originally wrote 5 hours of music to cover any and all situations in the almost 3-hour movie.  The Songcord is a beautiful song that is heard twice in the film – at the beginning and at the end. A songcord is a mnemonic device used by the Na’vi that assists them in storytelling. In this song, Neytiri is thanking Eywa – the Great Mother - for her family. This arrangement is scored for saxophone choir – 2 sopranos, 3 altos, 2 tenors, and baritone.  There is an optional bass saxophone part. One of the most important parts of this piece is what helps create the mood, which is where the part called “Shimmer†comes in.  In an interview, Simon Franglen said that an important part of the music is the feeling of light, and he achieved that by including shimmering sounds into his tunes.  The “Shimmer†part can be played by hanging a few keys (house keys, car keys, etc.) that have different pitches on short lengths of string.  Use a small metal or wooden object to lightly hit the keys to create little “dingsâ€. You can also use wind chimes, a little xylophone, bells, etc.  The idea is to create a magical mood without overpowering the music.  Play this part wherever there is a note in the measure. Always keep the melody prominent.  Play this slowly and freely, with a lot of rubato.  Duration: 3.75 minutes.

Saxophone Ensemble,Woodwind Ensemble Alto Saxophone,Baritone Saxophone,Tenor Saxophone - Level 3 - SKU: A0.845200 Composed by Felix Bartholdy Mendelssohn. Arranged by Phil Beaman. Classical,Romantic Period,Sacred,Standards. 48 pages. Phil Beaman #6360027. Published by Phil Beaman (A0.845200). Psalm 22 is a well-known and loved choral work by Felix Mendelssohn. I have here arranged it for Instrumental Octet. Since it no longer has lyrics to convey the meaning I have added extra markings and altered some harmonies and rhythms to add the appropriate interest and emotion. Several parts now contain short unmetered solos to be done freely in recitative fashion. The individual parts are not difficult with just basic notes and rhythms; the beauty is in the way they fit together creating harmony and polyphony. With a 6 minute performance time, this is a major work which bridges the Classical and Romantic eras.

Saxophone Ensemble,Woodwind Ensemble Alto Saxophone,Baritone Saxophone,Soprano Saxophone,Tenor Saxophone - Level 4 - SKU: A0.814505 Composed by Johann Pachelbel. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Baroque,Multicultural,Standards,Wedding,World. 36 pages. Regis Bookshar #6260481. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.814505). Canon (Pachelbel) (Bb) (Saxophone Octet - 1 Sop, 3 Alto, 3 Tenor, 1 Bari) - Advanced/Intermediate - . This selection, Johann Pachelbel's celebrated Canon, is perhaps the most famous canon ever written and has been one of my favorite compositions to arrange. A canon is a polyphonic device in which several voices play the same music, entering in sequence. Pachelbel's Canon, was originally written in the key of D Major and was scored for three violins arranged in canon, accompanied by a basso continuo which repeats the same harmonic progression throughout the entire piece. The common musical term for this is ostinato or ground bass. Regis Bookshar has now arranged this music for a Saxophone Octet consisting of 1 Soprano Saxophone, 3 Alto Saxophones, 3 Tenor Saxophones and 1 Baritone Saxophone. The Soprano Saxophone, 1 Alto Saxophone and 1 Tenor Saxophone play the melody in canon while the ostinato accompaniment is played by the other five instruments. This arrangement is suitable for high school and college students but could also be performed by professional performers. It is perfect for concerts and church services, especially for Weddings, but could be performed for any occasion. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (36 pages). This version is written in the key of Bb Major, to make it a little easier for some younger performers, but another version is also available in the key of D Major if you would prefer. Other versions of Pachelbel's Canon have also been arranged by Regis Bookshar and are available for a wide variety of instrumental Quintets and Octets, in both the keys of D Major and Bb Major. I think that String players would probably prefer to play the versions in the key of D Major while the Brass and Woodwind musicians might prefer to play the Bb Major versions. I hope you take the time to compare the different versions to find the right version for you. To help you decide which version, or versions, you may want to choose, I have included several musical samples for you to listen to and to hear what these arrangements may sound like and so that you may compare the various arrangements. Also, just to let you know, the Octets written in the key of Bb Major have full-length recordings while the Octets in D Major and all Quintets have only the first 25 measures, or so, available to hear. Please feel free to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar which are also available. There are quite a few other arrangements in a variety of styles and I'm certain you will find something else which might interest you as well. Saxophone Ensemble,Woodwind Ensemble Alto Saxophone - Level 4 - SKU: A0.813434 Composed by Johann Pachelbel. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Baroque,Standards,Wedding. 36 pages. Regis Bookshar #6260449. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813434). Canon (Pachelbel) (Bb) (Alto Saxophone Octet) - Advanced/Intermediate - . Regis Bookshar has now arranged this music for an Alto Saxophone Octet. Three Alto Saxophones play the melody in canon while the ostinato accompaniment is played by the other five.Alto Saxophones. Please keep checking because I plan to continue to add new arrangements as often as I can. I'm certain that this exciting arrangement of Pachelbel's Canon will be a challenge to some performers but will continue to entertain both performers and audiences alike for years to come.

Classical,Contest,Festival,Instructional,Multicultural,Romantic Period,World. 26 pages. Regis Bookshar #692064. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.1087835). Coronation March, TH 50, CW 47 by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Tenor Saxophone Octet - Advanced/Intermediate - . This marvelous arrangement of Peter Tchaikovsky's Coronation March, sometimes called Festival March or Festival Coronation March, would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for concerts, recitals and other festive occasions. This arrangement keeps all of the intensity and excitement of the original composition and is suitable for high school and college students. Professional musicians would also enjoy playing this selection. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (26 pages). This selection is one of the many arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available to the public for the first time. The Coronation March was ordered by the city of Moscow for the coronation of Tsar Alexander III in 1883. It was written during March of 1883 and was performed for the first time on June 4, 1883 in Sokolniky Park in Moscow, conducted by Sergei Taneyev. The music then included excerpts of the anthem, God Save the Tsar. The American premiere was on May 5, 1891, for the opening concert of Carnegie Hall in New York City, conducted by Tchaikovsky himself. During the Soviet Era, Russian performances and recordings of the music were revised to omit the excerpts from the Czarist national anthem, replacing it with thematic material used earlier in the march, due to an official Soviet ban on the anthem. Starting with Dmitri Medvedev's inauguration in 2008, an abbreviated version of this piece is played during the Russian presidential inauguration accompanying the entrance of the incoming president, and ends well before the playing in this piece of the Tsarist anthem God Save the Tsar. Unlike Tchaikovsky's other major compositions, the Coronation March does not have an opus number. It has been given alternative catalogue designations TH 50 and CW 47. Tchaikovsky's Coronation March was originally scored for a full orchestra and written in the key of D Major. Regis Bookshar has now created an abbreviated version, written in Db Major, and has arranged it for a Tenor Saxophone Octet. In addition to this arrangement of Tchaikovsky's Coronation March for a Tenor Saxophone Octet, other arrangements of this festive composition for various instrumental ensembles are also available. Please feel free to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar as there are many more arrangements in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you as well, and please continue to check periodically because new arrangements are being added as often as possible. I'm certain that this wonderful arrangement of Tchaikovsky's Coronation March will continue to entertain both audiences and performers alike for years to come.

Regis Bookshar has now created an abbreviated version, written in Db Major, and has arranged it for a Saxophone Octet, consisting of 1 Soprano Saxophone, 4 Alto Saxophones and 3 Tenor Saxophones. In addition to this arrangement of Tchaikovsky's Coronation March for a Saxophone Octet, other arrangements of this festive composition for various instrumental ensembles are also available.

Saxophone Ensemble,Woodwind Ensemble Alto Saxophone - Level 4 - SKU: A0.813480 Composed by Johann Pachelbel. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Baroque,Multicultural,Standards,Wedding,World. 36 pages. Regis Bookshar #6265513. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813480). Canon in D (Pachelbel) (D) (Alto Saxophone Octet) - Advanced/Intermediate - . This selection, Johann Pachelbel's celebrated Canon in D, is perhaps the most famous canon ever written and has been one of my favorite compositions to arrange. A canon is a polyphonic device in which several voices play the same music, entering in sequence. Pachelbel's Canon in D, was originally written in the key of D Major and was scored for three violins arranged in canon, accompanied by a basso continuo which repeats the same harmonic progression throughout the entire piece. The common musical term for this is ostinato or ground bass. Regis Bookshar has now arranged this music for an Alto Saxophone Octet. Three Alto Saxophones play the melody in canon while the ostinato accompaniment is played by the other five.Alto Saxophones. This arrangement is suitable for high school and college students but could also be performed by professional performers. It is perfect for concerts and church services, especially for Weddings, but could be performed for any occasion. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (36 pages). This version is written in the key of D Major, as is the original version, but, if you prefer, another version, written in the key of Bb Major, to make it a little easier for some younger performers, is also available. Other versions of Pachelbel's Canon in D have also been arranged by Regis Bookshar and are available for a wide variety of instrumental Quintets and Octets, in both the keys of D Major and Bb Major. Please keep checking because I plan to continue to add new arrangements as often as I can. I'm certain that this exciting arrangement of Pachelbel's Canon in D will be a challenge to some performers but will continue to entertain both performers and audiences alike for years to come.
