Recorded in the studio in 1974 by Bob Marley & The Wailers for the album Natty Dread in 1974, the version that became best known was recorded live in London and released on the album Live! of 1975, having been considered the definitive one.[2] This is the version included in the Legend compilation which includes the singer's greatest hits. The song has been covered by several artists, including Rancid, NOFX, Boney M, Murder One, Joan Baez, Xavier Rudd, Jimmy Buffett, The Fugees, Sublime, Hugh Masekela and Gilberto Gil, musician and former minister of culture in Brazil. But only the ska punk band Spunge had permission from Marley's family to change the lyrics for their Room For Abuse album.

Published by Keith Terrett (A0.978843). A Fanfare for three Bb Trumpets & Timpani. This was arranged from an old melody of unknown origin, for Eb Cavalry Trumpets and Kettledrums of the Queen’s Royal Irish Hussars Band, a former Northern Irish Regiment within the British Army; whose Colonel in Chief was HRH The Duke of Edinburgh. Winston Churchill was a young officer in the regiment, before the amalgamation of the 4th & 8th Hussars, to form the ’Queen’s Royal Irish Hussars’’. All cavalry regiments of the line, have a team of Cavalry Trumpets, who under the ’Trumpet Major’, play at 11am each day outside regimental headquarters, for the Regiment. Traditionally the fanfare ’stables’ would be played first; followed by another fanfare of the ’’Trumpet Major’s’’ choice. In cavalry regiments there is often a drum horse, on which the two timpani are positioned and played. An example would be the Queen’s Own Hussars, who for many years had a fine old drum horse, trained not to panic when the kettledrums were being played fortissimo! During the day, one trumpeter is on duty, and plays various trumpet calls throughout the day to signal important happenings in the regiment’s daily schedule of events. For example, Reveille is at 0630, Mess call at 0700, Mess call 1230, Guard mount 1800, Officers dress for dinner 2000, finishing with last post at 2200! There are also trumpet calls for fire, war and mucking out the horses! One morning when I was on trumpet duty in Germany at the tender age of 18, I woke up late, and just managed to play the ’’Reveille’’ trumpet call out of my bedroom window, in an effort not to be ’charged’ for missing a call! The equivalent in the Infantry would be the bugle, which is also used as a method of signaling to the regiment. This fanfare works well for three Bb trumpets and timpani. Eb cavalry trumpets are often written in the key of C, and harmonically there is no third on chord V due to the harmonics of the instrument, and the fact that they have no valves; giving a bare sounding chord. The trills in the first part are lip trills, on Bb trumpet, simply play a lip trill using the valves 1 & 3. The most famous Eb cavalry trumpeters in the British Army, are undoubtedly the trumpeters of the household cavalry, who perform in spectacular golden uniforms, complete with riding hats, at the state opening of parliament. Don’t forget Eb cavalry trumpeters are musicians from the band,(they could be clarinettists),assigned to trumpet for two to three years, not so good for your embouchure!! So when you hear a mis-pitched note in future, you know that the trumpeter could be a bassoonist, doing his or her very best.

Despite the song’s appearance relatively late in the Beatles’ discography, it was one of the first songs that Paul McCartney wrote, at the age of 16. When the song was finally recorded in 1966, Paul McCartney felt it was too slow and turgid. George Martin simply solved the problem by speeding up the tape and raising the pitch by one semitone. This version of When I’m Sixty-Four is arranged in a suitable key and range for solo Trumpet. Piano/Guitar chords in concert pitch are also included above the stave.Musicians at an intermediate level will find this ideal for formal and informal concert performance. Cited by the International Trumpet Guild Journal as a great introduction to the world of atonal music, Intermediate Serial Studies for Trumpet bridges the gap between tonal music and more difficult atonal literature with 20 short twelve-tone studies set primarily in the middle and lower registers. Settings vary from lyrical to marcato and tempos range from adagio to allegro. Using serial twelve-tone technique, each study's tone row is used only in original and retrograde (reversed) forms. Interval review in the studies begins with seconds and gradually expands to focus on thirds, fourths, tritones, fifths, sixths and sevenths. While 14 different time signatures are presented, beat subdivisions are not complex to facilitate precise rhythmic execution. Although published as a piano solo (1902), A Breeze from Alabama is subtitled March and Two Step and has a dedication on the cover to P. G. Lowery (Perry George Lowery, 1871-1942), World's Challenging Colored Cornetist and Band Master. Thus, A Breeze from Alabama may well have been conceived as a march for military band but published only as a piano solo. No band arrangement by Joplin is known to exist, but Joplin could have done this, as he himself was a cornetist as well as pianist, and had played cornet in bands like Lowery's many times. Drawing on this information, the present arrangement by James Siddons (2017) is based on the following assumptions: 1. A Breeze from Alabama originated as a march (in march-trio form) for military band. 2. The 1902 publication for piano solo by Scott Joplin is a piano reduction of that band work. The melodic lines intended for cornet solo are generally discernible in the piano reduction. 3. A setting for piano duet (or ensemble) keeps this work in the tradition of ragtime piano while also emulating the fulsome tone colors of brass instruments to a degree that a solo piano cannot do. Thus this arrangement is not a solo-and-accompaniment setting, but a setting for large ensemble with soloist. It is collaborative music, akin to a concerto. This is the part for cornet in Bb (or trumpet). A performance also requires the piano duet score (also playable as a piano ensemble), and the full score if a conductor participates. The audio track posted here has the piano music only, and is for rehearsal by the cornet soloist. A cadenza for the cornet, composed by James Siddons, begins at measure 116 in the score and part, and at 2 mins, 44 secs in the audio recording. In the audio track, five seconds of silence begin at 2 mins, 44 secs. To practice the cadenza, press the pause button on your media player. To rehearse without playing the cadenza, simply wait out the brief silence. At 2 mins, 49 secs, the piano music resumes at measure 120 of the score or cornet part.

Chiquitita was the first single released by the Swedish group ABBA from the album Voulez-Vous.With the success of the English version, ABBA also recorded a version of the song in Spanish. The song was first released on the album ABBA Oro: Grandes Éxitos.Chiquitita was performed at UNICEF's 1979 charity event, Music for UNICEF Concert, broadcast worldwide by the United Nations General Assembly. As a result of the event, the group donated half of the song's royalties to UNICEF. To this day, 50% of the proceeds from the song go to UNICEF, in recognition of the International Year of the Child in 1979. In May 2007, Chiquitita generated more than SEK 15,000,000 (about 2.5 million dollars).The song was a hit in several countries: Belgium, Finland, Ireland, Netherlands, New Zealand, Spain and Switzerland; reached the top 5 in Australia, West Germany, Great Britain, Norway and Sweden, becoming the most successful single from the Voulez-Vous album.Chiquitita, was one of the few ABBA singles to be released without a custom-made video. Since then, in the group's video collections, musical television programs have been used. The clip for Chiquitita was recorded at the BBC for the Abba in Switzerland show, shown throughout Europe at Easter 1979. In it, the band appears singing the song on a mountain, with a snowman in the background.

I was the Bugler for our local Boy Scout troop, playing Taps at many campouts and events to signal the end of the day. I also played it with our High School Marching Band for Memorial Day services, including an incredibly special one at my grandfather's gravesite shortly after his passing. He had served in the Army during World War II. I also played it for several funerals, including my Uncle's, who had served in the Marines. For some time, I had volunteered for our local VFW to play for Veteran's funerals. My High School Trumpet teacher and numerous other people in my life are Veterans and have made a huge impact on me. I decided to write this arrangement to give tribute to all Veterans and Service Members and to help the Echo Taps Worldwide cause. Echo Taps Worldwide was first done on May 19, 2007, in recognition of Armed Forces Day at National Cemeteries, State Veterans Cemeteries and American Battle Monuments Cemeteries overseas. The idea is that at gatherings across the world on Armed Forces Day, Buglers play Taps in succession, with one beginning as the previous ends, to honor those who have sacrificed so much. The intention is also to bring attention to the dire need for buglers to play for Veteran's funerals across the world.
