Published by Grant Horsley (A0.1433697). A Hunky punk is a grotesque carving on the side of a building, typically found on Mid/ Late medieval churches in the UK. They are plentiful in Somerset in the West Country of England Though similar in appearance to a gargoyle, a hunky punk is purely decorative and has no other functional purpose whatsoever!! Unlike the gargoyle, which serves to drain water off the roof through its mouth.The theory behind hunky punks and grotesques in general, was that churches were designed to reflect the balance between good and evil, reminding worshippers of the narrow path leading through life. As a result, for every saint or animal that was intended to signify purity and ‘goodness’, there was also an ugly creature to signify evil and ‘badness’. Scored for 2 Trumpets in B flat, Horn in F, 2 Trombones and Tuba. This piece is in concert C minor and begins with a medieval type of fanfare which occurs throughout. What follows is a haunting theme with lots of flattened 5ths and several discords to represent the uncomfortable nature of this statue. The staccato and accent direction in most of the piece gives the impression of walking on eggshells not knowing what lies around the corner! Then a brief legato section of the fanfare appears to provide a calmer atmosphere before eventually returning to the main theme and big ending. Set at Advanced intermediate level although an intermediate player maybe fine with it. However, the youtube link has the full score for you to assess suitability. It is around 4 mins 30 in length and would be a great addition to a repertoire.Price is for the full score and parts.

Both the A and B sections are in a fast tempo with the A consisting of fanfare-like figures over an ostinato and the B section more developmental, incorporating counterpoint. The tempo for the C section is moderato and is more whimsical with a lot of use of chromaticism. The reverse of the A and B sections for the ending brings the work to an exciting close.

First trumpet has the melody on verse one with a light sparce background that gets busier on the chorus. Trombone then takes over melody while trumpet 2 plays an echo -- taken over by trumpet 1 at the chorus. Up a half step modulation for another chorus with trumpet 1 on melody again to a rousing ending.

I've played many weddings and recorded many demos seeking wedding jobs, and it boggles my mind that this is usually the worst arrangement in the folder. Weddings are about the Bride, she's the star. I recommend using the extended ending with Chimes on the last chord. *Repeats and cuts were added to these arrangements, to time the procession of the Maids/Ushers and the Bride's procession.

A tippler is one who drinks beer, wine, whiskey or other such spirituous liquids. So a tipplers revel would be a gathering of folks who, in the words of Dolly Parton’s “Two Doors Down,†are “laughing and drinking and having a party.†    This Tipplers Revel is a compilation of traditional drinking songs. It begins and ends with that bane of school trips, faculty sponsors, bus drivers and chaperones, “99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall.†And between those two bookends come “Rye Whiskey,†“Little Brown Jug,†“Landlord, Fill the Flowing Bowl,†“Jimmy Crack Corn,†“Beer, Beer, Beer (An Ode to Charlie Mops, The Man Who Invented Beer),†“Hot Time in the Old Town Tonight,†“Wein, Weib und Gesang [Wine, Woman, and Song],†“Drink to Me Only with Thine Eyes,†“There Is a Tavern in the Town,†“Good Night, Ladies,†“How Dry I Am,†and brief quotes from about a half dozen other melodies associated with quaffing.     For the most part, this arrangement’s time signature is 4/4 and should be played at about 120 BPM. Possible exceptions: trumpets play their A above the staff a couple of times.     There are quite a few 16th notes in the allegro sections. At the end of most of the episodes from the 1978 TV Series, The Incredible Hulk, the main character, David Banner, is shown leaving whatever town or city he was in, walking alone down the highway, sometimes hitch-hiking, as he has typically destroyed buildings, human lives, and relationships as his Hulk persona earlier in the episode and can no longer show his face in town. The music that accompanies this ending scene is the tragic and sad The Lonely Man. It is so stereotypically and overly dramatic, that it has become something of an internet meme, being featured on an episode of Family Guy as well as numerous Youtube videos. This setting for brass quintet stays faithful to the original version for solo piano by Joe Harnell and captures the mournful and sad atmosphere perfectly.

It has solo and whole band tutti sections and requires a good to very good ensemble to perform it. I wrote this as a piece to open the first or second half of a traditional concert. The ending itself requires players to move to the front of the stage for visual effects. The overall style needs a conductor and band to feel the funky groove and embrace the feel as well as the written notation.

In Irish folklore the leprehaun is portrayed as a little bearded man, wearing a green coat and hat, and who gets into all kinds of mischief. In general they are solitary creatures who spend their time as cobblers making and mending shoes and have a pot of gold hidden at the end of the rainbow. According to the legends, if you are lucky enough to find a leprehaun and catch him you can exchange his freedom for his treasure. But leprehauns can be a tricky...take your eyes off him for just a second and he'll be gone in a wink leaving you with nothing!This should be played quite boisterously and playfully. It could fit into many types of programs of a light nature. Ideal for St.Patrick's Day or children's concerts.
