Published by Custom Chamber Music (A0.722564). Mozart's Jupiter Symphony #41 in C major (K. 551) is the last, longest, and arguably greatest of Mozart's symphonies. The final movement features a remarkable triple fugue, which was the motivation for this trio arrangement.This arrangement contains the entire 4th movement distilled to just three players. It was originally created for cello trio, and includes bowings and fingerings for cello. It also works as a viola trio, a bassoon trio, a clarinet trio, and a French Horn trio. This purchase includes parts for all five of those combinations, as well as full scores in C, Bb, Eb, and F. Published by Hayden Lee Woods (A0.901463). *** 2018 Holiday Contest Entry ***God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen has been revamped to fit a more jazz-focused sound within the parameters of the brass quintet. The intro follows the second half of the original carol before breaking into a more upbeat fast-paced romp that trades the melody across all the instruments. It is a shorter piece that demands the technique of some syncopation and embellishments on the main theme. Each part is important between the melody and chord building with many chords having an added 7th and 9th to contextually bring this piece to the next level. This version, which transposes from F minor to F# minor, along with a horn line that is in the upper register, provides a challenge for fingerings that will test the dexterity of valved instruments. All Brass Radio Publishing #3469858. Published by All Brass Radio Publishing (A0.927014). A fast two-step rag from 1908. The melody travels from section to section. As a two-step rag, it is written to go fast, about 132 bpm. This would be a good concert in the park piece as it is flashy, and fun to play and listen to. It has wonderful parts for every instrument in the brass band. It is a finger twister, but once the band has it under its fingers, it shines as a rag written 110 years ago and captures the ragtime feel. It is a bit on the difficult size and will take some rehearsal even for the top bands. Once the piece is worked up, and has been polished under a fine MD, it becomes something wonderful and worth the extra effort.
