Published by Kevin P Holdgate (A0.791040). There's No Business Like Show Business is an Irving Berlin song, written for the 1946 musical Annie Get Your Gun and orchestrated by Ted Royal. The song, a slightly tongue-in-cheek salute to the glamour and excitement of a life in show business, is sung in the musical by members of Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show in an attempt to persuade Annie Oakley to join the production. It is reprised three times in the musical but for the purposes of the show that I made this arrangement for only 2 verses were required... a third verse could easily be added of course with appropriate lyrics.The song is also featured in the 1954 movie of the same name, where it is notably sung by Ethel Merman as the main musical number. The movie, directed by Walter Lang, is essentially a catalog of various Berlin's pieces, in the same way that Singin' in the Rain-which starred Donald O'Connor as well-was a collection of Arthur Freed songs. There was also a disco version of the song made during the 1970s, with Merman reprising her singing role in The Ethel Merman Disco Album. The song became one of Ethel Merman's standards and was often performed by her at concerts and on television.This is a simple arrangement of the song playable by all levels of ensemble

Published by Lyons Music Services (A0.767421). Titans: This is a piece inspired by the mythological Titans, who were deposed by the Greek God Zeus, who exiled them and founded the Olympian tradition. The titans were created by the mating of Uranus (Heaven) and Gaea (the Earth). Gaea and Uranus were themselves created from Chaos (the Void). There were many Titans. Cronus, often mistaken for the god of time, was their leader, their brother and the father of their children. Cronus mated with his sister Rhea to produce the gods Zeus, Hades and Poseidon. Cronus was given a prophecy that he would be deposed by his children, so he forced Rhea to give her children to him when they were born whereupon he ate them. She managed to deceive him and hid Zeus, the youngest male child, away. Zeus eventually freed his siblings, by making Cronus vomit to bring them back to the world and thus he became the oldest. The other gods were persuaded to make Zeus their leader and together they deposed Cronus and defeated the Titans in a war (the Titanomachy) that lasted for many years. Zeus and the other gods were not able to kill Cronus, so he exiled him and all of the other Titans in a place called Tartarus, which was part of the underworld, where Cronus would have no access to power of any kind. The music is based mostly on the opening chords, which recur again and again, representing Tartarus and also Cronus and all of his children in one form or another. Melodic material throughout is shaped by the chords and their progressions and I have applied simple transformations – for example, in the last section I have shaped the motifs by applying a snippet of a Fibonacci sequence and overlaying the result in different parts like a canon. I decided to use this because the Fibonacci sequence is representative of nature and the growth of life so it links to Gaea, who represents the creative force. Obviously, Cronus, Gaea, Chaos, Zeus, Hades, Poseidon and Tartarus are all represented here, but so too are Oceanus, Phoebe, Mnemosyne and The Titanomachy (The war of the Olympians against the Titans). The piece finishes with a reprise of the opening chords, which have transformed into a less bleak soundscape, with Cronus and the other Titans safely locked away in Tartarus.This is a difficult and challenging piece demanding a high level of skill from all players. it uses a number of dramatic effects and will stretch any ensemble.I am looking into making a version of this piece for Brass Quintet.Watch te score playing here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2w7dUmJh5k4

They are presented in a set of two books and include full four-part instrumental scores plus parts for 1st B flat trumpet, 2nd B flat trumpet, horn in F (with a separate optional part for horn in E flat), trombone and/or tuba. The tuba part is also optional because it either doubles the trombone part or plays an octave below. Both trombone and tuba parts appear on a single staff in the bass clef at concert pitch. There’s no doubt that this is one of the saddest and yet beautiful works ever, The Urlicht from Mahler’s 2nd Symphony in C minor for alto voice and alternatively here for Flugel solo. I arranged this 14 years ago for a dear friend trumpeter of mine who passed before his time and a favourite of his.I discovered Mahler 2 at the age of 16 and like Kaplin, it has been a journey of understanding and study for me sifting through Mahler’s own handwritten score at times and through his letters at the time of composing which on and off was near 20 years! The recording you will here attached is by The Fairey Band (from my album with them It's Not Unusual worldofbrass) conducted by Frank Renton and sung by one of the most beautiful alto voices in this land, Margaret McDonald. I’ve no doubt in my mind this arrangement works 100% hence me including the recording itself. Alternatives within the score are Picc A tpt in lieu of Sop, the solo line flg instead of mezzo voice, vibraphone instead of harp.

La Rejouissance (from Heroic Music) - Georg Philipp Telemann - Brass Choir - Intermediate - .Heroic Music (or Heldenmusik) is a suite of twelve short marches and processionals, written by Georg Philipp Telemann in 1728 and is associated with various attributes of Heroism such as Dignity, Bravery and Alertness. All twelve movements have now been transcribed and arranged by Regis Booksgar to be played by Trumpet Quintets or Brass Quinets. Some of them have also been arranged for Sextets, Septets, Octets, Nonets and Brass Choirs. Some also include a Timpani. They can be purchased individually, or, if you prefer, as a complete set of all twelve at a huge saving.Any of these selections would be a wonderful addition to any music library. They are perfectly suited to recitals and public peformances, can stand alone as short interludes and are generally well received by audiences. They are suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing these arrangements. These selections are some of the many arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available for the first time. In the past, these compositions have often been performed by a soloist playing on a Piccolo Trumpet, but these new arrangements are Bb Trumpet friendly as one player stated after playing through them, making them much easier for most high school students.This selection, La Rejouissance (from Heroic Music), is arranged for a Brass Choir, with parts for 3 Bb Trumpets, 1 French Horn, 1 Trombone, 1 Euphonium and 1 Tuba, and is associated with the heroic quality of Joy. There is also a version which includes a Timpani, if you would prefer. The parts may be doubled as needed. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (15 pages).Many of these selections are readily available for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. Please take the time to look for other versions of this composition. You may find something else that may also suit your needs. Hello to all who happen to stumble onto this piece! My name is Anthony Prudent, and I am a student at the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School in New York City. This piece is an original composition that was written for the Brass Ensemble in the school. The world premiere of the song occurred on Tuesday, January the 7th. As such, I am distributing this work so that any ensemble, for school or otherwise, can perform it! The piece is roughly three and a half minutes long. However, it can be found challenging at times. Nevertheless, it is a fun piece to perform anywhere and is an excellent form of repertoire for brass players looking for something to engage with their performing groups.

This arrangement has a few cuts in it, like standard brass quintet arrangements of popular music, making it a perfect addition to any program. I also have an arrangement of the same song in its entirety for groups playing for gigs where people might sing along such as at bars, parties, or more. The tuba part is best performed on a smaller tuba, and the part is also very accessible for brass quintets that use a bass trombone as the bottom voice. Approximate length: 2 minutes.
