This instrumental track continues seamlessly into his radio hit Love Lies Bleeding. The music was written as the answer to what he would like to have performed at his own funeral. This piece has been previously covered live by both Dream Theater and Metallica; and we now present the version covered by Barclay Brass! In our live performance at the link below, we segued into Billy Joel's Piano Man, his hit from the same year. It was our intention to bring together these two great rock pianists with a suite of music from 1973.The synthesizer colors lend themselves perfectly to the sound of a brass choir. Each group of instruments are featured as the mood of the music changes from somber, to angry, to hopeful. This arrangement (complete with the 16 seconds of wind as heard on the album) works as an opener, closer, or anywhere on a concert to create a shift in the flow of your program. Now, really. Who writes for THAT combination?! Since I am also a composer (who often finds herself writing for similarly odd instrumentation), I would simply arrange music for that combination. But not every teacher or student is comfortable with doing that or has the time to. Finally, I am sharing with you all the fruits of my labor. Let friends play with friends! Yesterday is a song by English rock band the Beatles written by Paul McCartney (credited to Lennon–McCartney) and first released on the album Help! in the United Kingdom in August 1965. McCartney composed the entire melody in a dream one night in his room, and upon waking, he hurried to a piano and played the tune to avoid forgetting it. McCartney's initial concern was that he had subconsciously plagiarised someone else's work. As he put it, For about a month I went round to people in the music business and asked them whether they had ever heard it before. Eventually it became like handing something in to the police. I thought if no one claimed it after a few weeks then I could have it. I have arranged the melody here as a solo trombone feature which has been successfully performed in concert many times.

Hey Friends! As always, I have a couple public domain arrangements on my website, peteyc.com. Check them out, they're cheaper and support me more than the pennies I get from SMP.In it's original key, this arrangement sits up pretty high for a couple of the horns, so I included a 2nd version that is a whole step down and is a little more comfortable to play. The trade-off is that horn 4 is mostly in bass clef in the lower pitched version. Choose whichever one you like though!The Four Seasons makes for great chamber music though. It's melodic, harmonic, tasty stuff. This one is short but sweet. I hope you enjoy it!
