La Rejouissance (from Heroic Music) - Georg Philipp Telemann - Brass Choir - Intermediate - .Heroic Music (or Heldenmusik) is a suite of twelve short marches and processionals, written by Georg Philipp Telemann in 1728 and is associated with various attributes of Heroism such as Dignity, Bravery and Alertness. All twelve movements have now been transcribed and arranged by Regis Booksgar to be played by Trumpet Quintets or Brass Quinets. Some of them have also been arranged for Sextets, Septets, Octets, Nonets and Brass Choirs. Some also include a Timpani. They can be purchased individually, or, if you prefer, as a complete set of all twelve at a huge saving.Any of these selections would be a wonderful addition to any music library. They are perfectly suited to recitals and public peformances, can stand alone as short interludes and are generally well received by audiences. They are suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing these arrangements. These selections are some of the many arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available for the first time. In the past, these compositions have often been performed by a soloist playing on a Piccolo Trumpet, but these new arrangements are Bb Trumpet friendly as one player stated after playing through them, making them much easier for most high school students.This selection, La Rejouissance (from Heroic Music), is arranged for a Brass Choir, with parts for 3 Bb Trumpets, 1 French Horn, 1 Trombone, 1 Euphonium and 1 Tuba, and is associated with the heroic quality of Joy. There is also a version which includes a Timpani, if you would prefer. The parts may be doubled as needed. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (15 pages).Many of these selections are readily available for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. Please take the time to look for other versions of this composition. You may find something else that may also suit your needs. Published by Sweetwater Brass Press (A0.808706).     Orville and Wilbur Wright made their famous flight in late 1903; this song was published seven years later: Fred Fisher’s music with Alfred Bryan’s lyrics. The words form a narrative of a young man attempting to get his girlfriend to go up with him in his flying machine. And, that would take much more daring on her part than one might realize today. The year 1910 was still early days for aviation; most airplanes were still made of wood, wire and fabric and looked liked giant gliders. Supposedly, the Josephine of the song was Josephine Sarah Magner, reputed to be America’s first female parachutist. Magner married Leslie Burt Haddock, whose aviation career started in balloons, and made her first jump in 1905. During the next dozen years, she made more than 500 jumps. Pretty daring!    This arrangement is quirky and an absolute delight to play (and to listen to)! The first half is set in the song’s native ¾ time. The takeoff is the introduction, followed by the chorus, then the verse and again the chorus as the melody loops, rolls and spins through the five instruments. A middle section briefly quotes two other aerialist tunes-He flies through the air with the greatest of ease and Up in the air Junior Birdmen-and serves as a transition to cut time. A swing version of the chorus brings us in for a landing and final fade.    The arrangement begins in the key of C major and changes to G major during the transitional section. Suggested tempo is 76 bpm throughout. The arrangement comprises 202 measures: Horn in F plays the most notes, followed by Trombone and Tuba, while Trumpets get off relatively lightly. All notes are well within the normal playing range of the instruments; Trumpet 1 does, however, play A above its staff several times.    Completed in 2021, performance time for Come, Josephine in My Flying Machine runs about 3 minutes, 45 seconds. Your Favorite Christmas Hymns and Carols for Brass, Book 2Arranged for brass by Colin KirkpatrickThis is the second volume of the collection of best-loved Christmas hymns and carols arranged for brass, to brighten up your next Christmas event. This publication includes full four-part instrumental scores plus parts for 1st B flat trumpet, 2nd B flat trumpet, horn in F (with a separate optional part for horn in E flat), trombone and/or tuba. The tuba part is also optional because it either doubles the trombone part or plays an octave below. Both trombone and tuba parts appear on a single staff in the bass clef at concert pitch. The arrangements can be used with brass quartet, brass quintet or brass ensemble. There’s also an optional but useful simplified keyboard part intended for less experienced keyboard players. The left hand plays only the bass part most of the time, with the right hand part kept as simple as possible. It could be used as the basis of an accompaniment which means that you can use the arrangements as solos, duets or trios. The arrangements are intended either as stand-alone pieces that could be used as interludes in a concert or service, or they could be used to accompany solo, choral or congregational singing. The arrangements been written in brass-friendly keys as often as possible. While the hymns mostly use the traditional harmonies, the carols have been treated more freely.
