Published by Music Macri Editions (A0.931331). The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is the soundtrack of the film of the same name. Harry Gregson-Williams composed the soundtrack, which was released on December 13, 2005 by Walt Disney Records.During the recording process, Gregson-Williams employed the 75-piece Hollywood Studio Symphony Orchestra, along with a 140-member choir (from Abbey Road Studios, London, England; mostly members of the Bach Choir) and numerous other solo musicians such as electric violinist Hugh Marsh and vocalist Lisbeth Scott (at his Wavecrest Studio). He composed the original score and then spent late September through early November 2005 conducting the Hollywood Orchestra and overseeing the recording of the English choir.[2] For color, he employed instruments used in ancient folk music, and to underscore critical dramatic moments, he added choral textures and, occasionally, a solo voice. The score includes instances of electronic music.Though frequent comparisons were made between it and Howard Shore's score for The Lord of the Rings film trilogy (2001–03), Gregson-Williams said he was not influenced by Shore during the scoring of The Chronicles of Narnia. He also said he composed over 100 minutes of music for the original score, although less than sixty minutes made the final cut.The score features many uses of themes or leitmotifs, the most prominent of which are a motif for the Pevensie children, a motif for Narnia itself, and the Heroic motif. The heroic motif, however, is not heard until track nine (To Aslan's Camp).

The Ricercar a 6 is a 6-voice fugue considered to be the highlight of the entire work and described as possibly the greatest piano composition in musical history. Mr. Sauer has brilliantly scored Bach’s fugue for 14-piece Brass ensemble the texture of which is quite transparent until the ending, which goes out in a blaze of glory. Instrumentation: 4 Trumpets in C, 4 Horns, 4 Trombones, 2 Tubas (optional single tuba part also included). The work is about 8 minutes in length and is suitable for advanced performers.

The music is in A-B-A form beginning with a fanfare containing a combination of open and complex chords, giving it an ancient sound. The middle section is a relaxed intermezzo called Lear Asleep which is followed by a return to the fanfare. The music has been beautifully scored by Ralph Sauer for a 16-part large brass ensemble with timpani and percussion and is appropriate for advanced performers. Mr. Sauer has dedicated this work to the memory of Adolf Bud Herseth.

The subtitle actually does not refer to romantic love, but a medieval romance such as some of Wagner's operas.The movement titled Scherzo is full of adventure and vitality with a relaxed middle section. Bruckner himself hinted that the Scherzo movement was a Jadthema or hunting theme and Volkfest or people's festival. The hunting horns are calling, the brass are blowing their fanfares and it is a good day to be hunting. The word oom-pah-pah is seemingly used euphemistically to refer to both intoxication and fornication; however, as the song points out, the word's meaning is only as dirty as the listener interprets it. Although not an original music hall song, it recalls that genre well and, in terms of both its tempo and suggestiveness, shares characteristics with such late 19th century songs as Ta-ra-ra Boom-de-ay.In the stage musical, the song opens Act II and does not contribute to the storyline. For the 1968 film version, it was moved to near the end and given a dramatic purpose. Sikes has refused to let Nancy take Oliver out of the pub and, unknown to him, to Mr Brownlow and rescue. He orders Bullseye to guard Oliver while he immerses himself in discussion with Fagin. So Nancy starts the song and gradually works the pub crowd into a raucous singalong, hoping their noise will drown out Bullseye's barking long enough for her to get Oliver away.
