However the melody is actually much older and dates back to there 15th Century. It was an English Folk song called 'I Gave My Love a Cherry' also known as 'The Riddle Song'.This arrangement for British Brass Band remains faithful to the Mathis version, a beautiful melody first heard in the Flugel is then developed and the arrangement moves from an intimate setting to full band. It has rich harmonies and it will be sure to become loved by players and audiences alike.

Sweetwater Brass Press #3689775. Published by Sweetwater Brass Press (A0.808686). This is one of the most beautifully arranged short pieces in the Sweetwater Brass Press catalog. Jean-Paul-Égide Martini wrote Plaisir d'amour in 1784. He took the words from a poem that appears in Célestine, a short novel by Jean-Pierre Claris de Florian. The poem begins, Plaisir d'amour ne dure qu'un moment (The pleasure of love lasts only a moment). Over the years, Martini’s melody has proved popular with other composers, including Hector Berlioz and Louis van Waefelghem. Two relatively recent songs that made use of the plaintiff refrain are the Christian hymn, My God Loves Me and the song Can't Help Falling in Love, which was performed by Elvis Presley in the film, Blue Hawaii. This arrangement is not technically difficult, but it does require discipline and interpretation. As in the original, there are two key changes, F to A-flat and then back to F. The time signature has been changed from Martini’s 6/8 to ¾ but retains all relative note values. Trumpet 1 plays the melody with occasional harmony from Trumpet 2. Horn in F provides arpeggio accompaniment throughout most of the song, with some help from Tuba and Trombone. With respect to high and low notes: Trumpet 1 has one A5 grace note (to a G5 quarter note); Trumpet 2 has three above-staff quarter notes in a row, A5, B5 and A5; Trombone has one F4; and Tuba has a number of F1 notes and one section of octave jumps involving F2 to F3 and A2 to A3. This arrangement was completed in 2018, and performance time runs about 3 minutes, 51 seconds. Published by David Healy-Richards (A0.1015626). Moon Chasers is my third musical work and is dedicated to my Girlfriend who I met in the International Brass Band Summer School in Swansea in 2016. This piece of music is aimed at capturing the feeling of a young couple savouring the moment as they experience it. Not worrying about the future or the past just the here and now. I tried to capture this feeling with suspensions and utilising the different sections of the band. The intro represents the end of a manic day, driving home until A. Where the duet kicks in A melody and a counter-melody representing two young lovers. It starts as a minimalist quartet before the scoring becomes a lot thicker allowing more colours to come out. We hear echoes of the next section which starts at (D) with a rhythm that feels like its slightly behind the beat. It's a simple harmonic line but as it feels behind the beat this achieves a kind of euphoric feel to the music. This is then decorated by the twinkling stars that we here popping up every now and again which are represented by the Glockenspiel.

Later, as a music teacher, I would either be approached by students in the same kind of situation or I would have an after-school ensemble consisting of something like 3 flutes, 2 alto saxes, 4 pianists, 5 drummers, a guitar, a viola, and an accordion. Now, really. Who writes for THAT combination?! Since I am also a composer (who often finds herself writing for similarly odd instrumentation), I would simply arrange music for that combination. But not every teacher or student is comfortable with doing that or has the time to. Finally, I am sharing with you all the fruits of my labor. Let friends play with friends! Let people pick parts that they are comfortable with! Let’s play some music we love!

I wrote the main melody for this piece at the beautiful Kasjuni Bay, west of Split in Croatia. Picture the scene: a little bay surrounded by hills, the Adriatic Sea and Croatian islands, with only the sound of the sea lapping at the beach. The melody came to me and I hummed it into my mobile phone to make sure I didn't lose it! I planned to work up a more complex piece, but in the end I loved the simplicity of the melody and opted to form a short simple piece around it.

This is an arrangement for brass quintet of Ed Sheeran's best-selling song, Perfect. Ed described his song as the best love song of his career. It was the best selling song in the 1st half of 2018, reaching no.1 in the US, UK and in 16 other countries around the world.The arrangement features the trumpets, starting with a beautiful solo for 2nd trumpet, before the melody is passed on to the 1st trumpet. The other instruments have interest with rhythmic accompaniment, counter-melodies and lush harmonies. The accompaniment has a 1950's 'doo-wop' feel. There is a gradual crescendo throughout the piece, with a final uplifting chorus featuring the whole group before calming to a quiet and reflective finish.This arrangement is for a classical brass quintet, and could form part a mixed concert programme, or would work well as a stand-alone piece. Published by Lucy Wilson (A0.905183). This is an arrangement for brass quintet of Seal's hit 'Kiss From A Rose'. First released in 1994, and featured in the film Batman Forever, this song was a no.1 hit in the US and Australia.This arrangement features the trombone as the main soloist, with some wonderful moments for showcasing the rich, vocalistic tone of the instrument. The French horn also has some 'pearly' moments, starting with the opening introduction soaring high in the register. The trumpets also enjoy the melody during the chorus which features them playing together in octaves. Some moments in the trombone and horn part may be a little high for some players, but these will work just as well taken down an octave where necessary.This is a terrific song, with rich harmonies and lots of melodic interest.
