Bach's Fugue No. 2 in C minor is perhaps the most beloved and best known of all Bach's fugues in his Well-Tempered Clavier collection. Here, it has been carefully arranged for brass trio, with flexible substitute parts. Part 1 is for Bb trumpet. Part 2 is for horn in F, however, a part is also provided for Part 2 to be covered by a second Bb trumpet if preferred. Part 3 is for trombone or euphonium/baritone BC, but parts are also provided so that Part 3 may be performed by baritone TC or tuba. Since parts are available for trumpet, horn in F, trombone, euphonium/baritone, and tuba, this trio could also be performed by the entire brass section of a traditional concert band. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.792590). Purcell's Trio Sonatas of 1683 are a blend or hybrid of French and Italian Baroque 17th Century musical styles. The six Sonatas of Volume 2 alternate between major and minor keys. Each work consists of several short movements, ranging between melancholy and joyous. Volume 2 is a continuation of the six sonatas from volume one, with more surprises and enjoyment for performers and listeners alike. Especially delightful are the dissonances that the composer intersperses throughout each work. Each Sonata is about 6-7 minutes in length and they are an absolute delight to perform. Purcell's Trio Sonatas of 1683 are a blend or hybrid of French and Italian Baroque 17th Century musical styles. The six Sonatas of Volume 1 alternate between major and minor keys. Each work consists of several short movements, ranging between melancholy and joyous. Especially delightful are the dissonances that the composer intersperses throughout each work. Each Sonata is about 6-7 minutes in length and they are an absolute delight to perform. For advanced performers.
