Vivaldi’s violin concerto in D major, RV 208, survives in three manuscripts:Vivaldi’s autograph score, conserved in Turin.A copy of the parts, conserved in the Landesbibliothek Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Günther Uecker [de] in Schwerin.Another copy of the parts conserved in Cividale del Friuli.The Grosso Mogul title appears on the Schwerin manuscript, which was written before 1717. According to Michael Talbot, the name of the concerto can possibly be linked to Domenico Lalli’s Il gran Mogol opera libretto, a setting of which had been presented in Naples in 1713. Later settings of this libretto include Giovanni Porta’s, staged in Venice in 1717, and Vivaldi’s RV 697 (1730).The Schwerin and Cividale del Friuli copies of the concerto contain two variants of extended cadenzas for unaccompanied violin, in the first and last movements of the concerto.The present edition present the modern edition of the cadenzas contained in Schwerin and Cividale del Friuli manuscript.Although the cadence for the first movement is almost identical in both manuscripts, the cadence for the third movement is different in each one of them. Key: D major.It was the Devil's Trill Sonata that immortalized Giuseppe Tartini (1692-1770) although said work is just one of a vast number of concertos and sonatas for strings and especially for his instrument, the violin. The present 'Sonata in Re maggiore per Violino solo' is a technically demanding, yet not cluttered work. The slow movements, the introductory Andante cantabile and the Largo headed TASSO, composed over the melody of a Venetian gondola song, give the soloist the opportunity for cantabile playing. The playful Minuetto clearly breathes the spirit of the post-Baroque era while the Allegro assai coming second mixes strongly gripping passages with beguilingly sentimental ones. The characteristic ambiguous movement is repeated after the Minuetto, thus completing the solo sonata.

This is an original composition by Hungarian violin virtuoso Nandor Szederkenyi, former concertmaster in several major orchestras from Japan to Austria, who also had a long career as soloist.Incorporating probably all major violin works, particularly concertos written in D minor or major, it may be called the ultimate cadenza. A typical violinistic piece for solo violin, like a cadenza, but meant more as an encore than a cadenza, as there are so many quotations of different works involved. It is a fantasy, thematic ideas flowing freely, demonstrating modern violin techniques, which gives lots of fun for the player and audience.
