Esta pieza está inspirada en la Suche Malinche, uno de los personajes de “El Güegüense o Macho Ratón”, obra de teatro nicaragüense y además Patrimonio Oral e Inmaterial de la Humanidad. En dicha obra, el Güegüense convence al Gobernador Tastuanes (padre de la Suche Malinche) para que case a la muchacha con uno de sus hijos (Don Forcico). El Preludio de la Suche Malinche surge de la necesidad de empoderar a esta mujer, cuya función en El Güegüense es la de ser un instrumento para acceder al poder. Ni su voz ni su voluntad existen. Es por eso que en la pieza, La Suche (representada por la violinista) empieza a cuestionarse por su silencio, y le reza a Guachán (San Sebastián, santo patrono de Carazo); pero en vez del santo, se le aparece Quetzalcóatl, quien le da valor y fuerza. Poco a poco ella siente cómo surge su voz, alternada con vocales y sonidos reiterados, que se mezclan con un violín impetuoso, hasta que en ella se construye el habla y termina diciendo : “Ya neme nequi nitipampa” (Yo estoy aquí, defendiendo mi causa). ----------------------------------------------This piece is inspired by Suche Malinche, one of the characters of “El Güegüense o Macho Ratón”, a Nicaraguan play and also Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity. In this play, the Güegüense convinces Governor Tastuanes (Suche Malinche’s father) to marry the girl to one of his sons (Don Forcico). The Suche Malinche Prelude arises from the need to empower this woman, whose function in El Güegüense is to be an instrument to gain access to power. Neither her voice nor her will exist. That is why in the piece, La Suche (represented by the violinist) begins to question her silence, and prays to Guachán (San Sebastián, patron saint of Carazo); but instead of the saint, Quetzalcóatl appears to her, giving her courage and strength. Little by little she feels how her voice emerges, alternating with vowels and reiterated sounds, which are mixed with an impetuous violin, until she builds her speech and ends up saying: “Ya neme nequi nitipampa” (I am here, defending my cause.).

( But it's not for beginner! ) Some of the notations are written by #s with #chourds instead of the flat chords to make phrasing more comfortable for the violinists. Those are not the best way to write if I needed to follow the western classical musical theory. Although, I wrote that way for tons of reasons. Just discuss with your musicians or mentors and then find a better way for you.This music sheet might be used for understanding / learning the ideas of phrasing he improvised, not just for performing the same solo to show off! Published by Inacio Saldanha (A0.798120). Villa-Lobos composed Chôros No. 1 in Rio de Janeiro in 1920, originally publishing it under the title Chôro tÃpico, then Chôro tÃpico brasileiro. The title is taken from an improvisational genre of Brazilian instrumental popular music that originated in Rio de Janeiro in the nineteenth century. The Portuguese word choro, means cry or lament, though most music of this type is far from being sorrowful. Four years after composing this work, at the time of his first visit to Paris, he decided to make it part of an extended cycle of works collectively titled Chôros, which eventually included fourteen numbered compositions, plus an Introduction aux chôros (Introdução aos chôros): Ouverture, for guitar and orchestra, designed to be played before a complete performance of the cycle, and Chôros bis, a two-movement duo for violin and cello, considered as a sort of encore piece. A Quintet (em forma de chôros), for five woodwind instruments (1928) is sometimes considered as related.In the context of the larger cycle, Chôros No. 1 is like the essence, the embryo, the psychological model that will be developed technically in the conception of all the Chôros (Villa-Lobos 1972, 210).The score of Chôros No. 1 is dedicated to Ernesto Nazareth, and a recording of it made by the composer lasts just under four minutes. Unlike the successor works, there is no attempt here to synthesize different aspects of Brazilian music into a stylistic montage. Instead, it employs the patterns, figurations, and simple structure characteristic of the improvised music of such celebrated chorões of the late-nineteenth and early twentieth centuries as Zequinha de Abreu, Quincas Laranjeiras [pt], Chiquinha Gonzaga, and Catulo da Paixão Cearense [pt] (Wright 1992, 62) This simplicity and the beauty of its composition have made it a favourite with professional guitarists (Appleby 2002, 80).Originally for Guitar, adapted for Solo Violin by Inacio Saldanha. The inspiration for my Missa Pro Defunctis (2018) was Fauré's Requiem in which he ignored the fire and brimstone text of the Dies irae and Tuba mirum in the Sequence of the Requiem Mass. And consequently he created a work that is peaceful, tranquil and uplifting. I'd like to think of death in that way.So, I proceeded by taking the exact text that Fauré used in his work, and instead of a large chorus and full orchestra I decided to do a chamber version. It is scored for SATB (single voices), flute, clarinet, string quartet, double bass and harp.The movements, as in the Fauré, are:1. Introit and Requiem2. Offertory3. Santus 4. Pie Jesu5. Agnus Dei6. Libera me7. In paradisumThe entire work has a duration of ca. 27 minutes.Missa Pro Defunctis (2018) is dedicated to the residents in the Protestant Cemetery in Rome.

The inspiration for my Missa Pro Defunctis (2018) was Fauré's Requiem in which he ignored the fire and brimstone text of the Dies irae and Tuba mirum in the Sequence of the Requiem Mass. And consequently he created a work that is peaceful, tranquil and uplifting. I'd like to think of death in that way.So, I proceeded by taking the exact text that Fauré used in his work, and instead of a large chorus and full orchestra I decided to do a chamber version. It is scored for SATB (single voices), flute, clarinet, string quartet, double bass and harp.The movements, as in the Fauré, are:1. Introit and Requiem2. Offertory3. Santus 4. Pie Jesu5. Agnus Dei6. Libera me7. In paradisumThe entire work has a duration of ca. 27 minutes.Missa Pro Defunctis (2018) is dedicated to the residents in the Protestant Cemetery in Rome.
