Published by ViolinVagabond Music (A0.845984). This is an original Celtic fiddle tune that I wrote & performed with my live-looping duo, The Khromatiks, in 2015. It was originally conceived as a loop station composition for 7-string electric violin, but can also be performed as a fiddle solo with any form of standard accompaniment. The looper arrangement was recorded on 7-string violin with a Boomerang III loop station. That being said, there are plenty of other gear configurations that will work. Any phrase looper/sampler that is capable of playing 2 tempo-synced tracks with overdubs will be able to handle this structure, such as the Singular Sound Aeros, BOSS RC-30, Ableton Live with a MIDI controller, etc. If you don't play 7-string, a 5-string can also play this chart as written if you use an octave pedal to record the low bass lines. A standard 4-string can play all of the melodies & harmonies, but some accompaniment parts in the loop arrangement will have to be transposed 8va.The tune itself is a fairly standard Celtic jig+reel medley. In the loop station arrangement there is an extended opening that explores some suspended harmonies over a pedal-tone D. String pads & chopping grooves are stacked in the accompaniment track to bring in a more modern fusion approach to the Celtic sound.With The Khromatiks this piece was performed as a duo with violin & drums/percussion, but as I mentioned it also works as a violin solo. Using the included lead sheets, you can perform this with guitar, piano, bass, etc. The sky is the limit, feel free to get creative and share your performance!Please, if you have questions or suggestions, feel free to contact me via my website, www.kylepudenz.com/, or on Instagram @theviolinvagabond

One of the most iconic guitar solos of all time, written by one of the most influential guitarists in history, and now arranged for violin!!As a violinist who has extensively studied both the classical & rock genres, I made it my goal to be as faithful to EVH's original performance as possible, while also making this version more adaptable to the different virtuosic techniques available to violinists. We may not be able to tap out those signature arpeggios with 2 hands, but arpeggiating them with the bow creates a similar texture with a distinctly more violin-friendly approach! I've also used octave transpositions and re-voiced some of the chords to make them more adaptable to the violin's range without feeling chopped up.The result: a fresh take on this timeless solo that can be performed on any standard violin. No need for extra strings or electronics (though I'll admit, it will probably sound pretty awesome on an electric violin...) and no need to re-tune your instrument. This version is written a half-step higher than the original recording in concert A. The fun piece is arranged into a violin duet for my violin class, which is easy to intermediate level.First violin is required to reach the E octave higher than the E string, while second violin can stay in first position.This piece is fun to play. Students can learn ensembleship, dynamic contrast, articulations, etc throughout this piece. Also the fast pacing of the piece could be an achievable challenge to them.I do included all repeats in the music. It is usually under 3 minutes, depends on the tempo, and with all repeats observed.The piece is excellent for performance and student showcase.You can watch my own playing of this arrangement by clicking watch.
