Vozzella (A0.778385). Sortie (Toccata) for Organ from Messe Basse. Vierne composed two organ masses – Messe basse op. 30 (Summer 1912) and Messe basse pour les défunts op. 62 (Winter 1934/35), both for organ and/or harmonium. These are glorious works filled with melodies, harmony and rhythmic interest historically found in French organ music. The difference between major works and these masses is that each movement within the mass is a few minutes long and serves a purpose during the mass, as certain movements contribute to the drama of the Eucharist.This piece will be an all around pleaser, is fun to play - with the feel of a French Toccata. This edition was created in celebration of Vierne’s 150th birthday.

Published by David Christensen (A0.842660). This is an arrangement for organ of the Andante and Allegro from Sonata No. 3 by Christian Gottlob Neefe, 1748 - 1798. The Andante could by used by itself for a church prelude or offertory, and the Allegro could be used for a postlude. Both movements would make a nice recital piece, or a longer prelude.

The music of this Mass has a ring of oriental promise according to one appreciative member of the congregation. It has been sung in Cathedrals in Manchester, Southwell and Dublin. However the only performance that included the Ite Missa Est was at Manchester Cathedral, and this was not recorded.You might like to hear the Mass, sung by the Manchester Cathedral Voluntary Choir, since the Ite Missa est uses many of the themes from the various sung movements.

Published by Rebecca Maughan Cook (A0.908187). In 2021 I wrote this entry for an Organ Composition competition. We were required to use the pitches associated with RC MADER. I wrote this set of Miniatures exploring ideas associated with that. Movement 1 is a Fanfare and Hymn setting. Movement 2 is the only time the Pitches are played in entirety and I turned it into a Theme of Love. It's one of my favorite movements from this set. Movement 3 is a Blues with almost all the notes using the given pitches. Movement 4 is such a quirky little piece! It's a March and all the notes are from RC Mader. It was very fun to write. Movement 5 is a Toccata and in order to meet the requirement I placed some chords in inversion for the pedals and picked up the root on the LH. It's busy and beautiful. It's my other favorite movement. I'm uploading a midi recording of this. The first four movements are pretty accessible, but the 5th movement is more challenging. Have fun!
