Organ - Level 4 - SKU: A0.885300 Composed by Ethan Haman. Christian,Concert,Contemporary,Sacred. Score. 9 pages. Ethan Haman #6589537. Published by Ethan Haman (A0.885300). Postlude on Sine Nomine was originally improvised by Ethan Haman at Yale University's Woolsey Hall as the postlude for Marquand Chapel services in honor of All Saints' Day, November 1, 2020. Haman has now used the original recording to reconstruct and revise the improvisation into a fully developed composition so that others can enjoy playing this joyful piece. Works perfectly especially for funerals or All Saints' Day services, paired with congregational singing of the well known hymn tune by Ralph Vaughan Williams, Sine Nomine, usually sung to the text For All The Saints. Also suitable as an organ recital piece. Duration approximately 5 minutes. For a video of the composer playing this piece, see YouTube link: https://youtu.be/tZQNBw_wkjs.

Organ - Level 4 - SKU: A0.848572 Composed by Ellacombe. Arranged by Gene Roberson. Concert,Easter,Sacred. Score. 6 pages. Gene Roberson #3533849. Published by Gene Roberson (A0.848572). From my Organ Postlude series, this is the tune Ellacombe which is very familiar to the Christian Community. Other settings of this tune include Hosanna,Loud Hosanna sung on Palm Sunday. This organ setting is for advanced organists that are familiar with the pipe organ or digital organs. Also playable on Hammond Organs. Be sure to have the Leslie Speaker tremolo turned to Chorale and do not use Vibrato. There are French organ elements similar to Vierne. A must for your Postlude library. There are other new arrangements at SMPress by Gene Roberson. Be sure to try all of them.

Instrumental Solo,Organ - Level 4 - SKU: A0.1471905 Composed by Guillaume de Machaut. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Christian,Early Music,Historic,Medieval,Religious. Individual part. 23 pages. Jmsgu3 #1049538. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1471905). 1. Kyrie 2. Gloria 3. Credo 4. Sanctus 5. Agnus dei 6. Ite missa est Guillaume de Machaut composed the Messe de Nostre Dame, also known as the Mass of Our Lady, in the early 1360s. He wrote the mass for the Cathedral at Reims, where he served as a canon and a permanent clergy member. According to a rubric at the Cathedral, it would have likely been performed for the Saturday Lady Mass. Machaut's Messe de Nostre Dame is significant in the history of music for several reasons: It is the first complete setting of the Ordinary of the Mass by a single composer that has survived. It is a unified mass, meaning the composer selected relevant chants for each section as the borrowed tenor. It was composed in four voices, which was unusual at the time. The texts of both Gloria and Credo are pretty lengthy. Therefore, Machaut set these movements in a style reminiscent of the earlier discant style, having short phrases, similar rhythmic motion in all parts, and a low ratio of notes per syllable of text, ending with long, rhapsodic sections for the final word, Amen. Machaut's Messe de Nostre Dame is a landmark in musical history, but it is far from being avant-garde merely for its uniqueness. It is considered to be a culmination of the musical style of the Ars Nova period, which was characterized by complex polyphonic textures and rhythmic innovations. The mass is also significant because it was composed during a time of great political and social upheaval in Europe, and it reflects the changing attitudes towards religion and music during this period. Overall, Machaut's Messe de Nostre Dame is a significant work that represents a culmination of the musical style of the Ars Nova period and reflects the changing attitudes towards religion and music during the 14th century. The mass consists of five movements: Kyrie, Gloria, Credo, Sanctus, and Agnus Dei, followed by the dismissal Ite, missa est. The tenor of the Kyrie is based on Vatican Kyrie IV, the Sanctus, and Agnus correspond to Vatican Mass XVII, and the Ite is on Sanctus VIII. Although the Gloria and Credo have no apparent chant basis, they are stylistically related. The mass is unified, meaning the composer selected relevant chants as the borrowed tenor for each section. The Messe de Nostre Dame is significant in the history of music because it is the first complete setting of the Ordinary of the Mass by a single composer that has survived. It is also significant because it was composed during a time of great political and social upheaval in Europe, and it reflects the changing attitudes towards religion and music during this period. Overall, the Messe de Nostre Dame was a vital part of the liturgical practices of the time, and it is still regarded as a masterpiece of medieval and religious music.

Organ - Level 4 - SKU: A0.576016 Composed by David Warin Solomons. Contemporary. Score. 33 pages. David Warin Solomons #44013. Published by David Warin Solomons (A0.576016). This is a suite of 5 organ pieces composed by David W Solomons originally performed by David Carlston Williams on 17 August 2014 on the organ of St Paul's Springfield Road, Sale (Cheshire, UK) Registrations are as suggested by the performer. (the sound sample is a recording of Passacaglia from the subsequent CD recording performed by David Carlston WIlliams in June 2015) The suggested order for this suite is: 1. Passacaglia: based on an ostinato passage in 3 time. The idea behind the passacaglia relates to the origin of the word, it is basically a gentle stroll down the street (pasar la calle in Spanish, which was converted into Passacaglia in Italian) 2. Dorina: a descriptive piece in Dorian mode based on a song about a cat, from the aptly named village of Chattevoix, who stalks, but never catches, a little bird. 3. Playtime: also about a cat, the composer's own cat who is playful and rushes around the house but occasionally stopping to pummel the soft furnishings. 4. Early Evening in Camden Town: a more serious and sad piece - in 3-3-2 time. It is an evocation of the poor folk in Camden and their dreams of what could be, if only….. It was originally a song, which the composer wrote when he was living in London, based on a poem by fellow Londoner Sandra Erös The streets are part of a toy town, waiting to be played with…. 5. The Bishop's Dance: a curious and comical piece in 11 time (3, 3, 3, 2). It comes from the legend of Robin Hood, in which Robin meets the bishop of Hereford, who had hoped to get the better of him, but Robin prevails and forces him to dance. The clumsy attempts of the ungainly Bishop to obey Robin's commands cause great merriment among the merry men To quote our vicar, Rev Barbara, after the recital For me music paints a picture, and, for that, I have got this picture of someone going for a stroll in their village and then they came across a very old cat wandering down the street imaging it could catch birds but never catching them. And then it would lie down for a sleep and dream of the days when it was a kitten.... It was a very reflective programme and turns our mind about What for the Autumn, what do we need to do next.. it really did fit in with the mood of the year, as we turn towards building up the programme for next year... So thank you, it gave us time to reflect in a very beautiful manner.... The suite is also available as separate pieces (with performances by David Carlston Williams).

The rest of the suite is also available on this site: separately (with performances by David Carlston Williams) and as a set (with David's performance of Passacaglia).
