The piece begins with a setting of the chorale, followed by a peaceful aria. The third movement is a delightful trio, followed by a very creative duo that is based on the fourth stanza of the hymn. The piece ends in a fiery fugue. Even though the piece has challenges, it is not overly difficult, and the movements will work well separately. Useful for worship services as well as for recitals.

He wrote the mass for the Cathedral at Reims, where he served as a canon and a permanent clergy member. According to a rubric at the Cathedral, it would have likely been performed for the Saturday Lady Mass. Machaut's Messe de Nostre Dame is significant in the history of music for several reasons: It is the first complete setting of the Ordinary of the Mass by a single composer that has survived. Of course there are many compositions written on this tune. A short while ago, my friend Ausra created a beautiful Toccata over it. You can listen to that one here. But, there is never enough music in the world, so I tried to create my own version. I deliberately choice for contrasting harmonies in both hands to create some tension and excitement. The Cantus Firmus is played with the pedals. I hope you like it!

Over the past couple of years I have written a number of film music transcriptions on and for the organ of the Royal Albert Hall in London. While the transcriptions are written with this organ in mind, often calling for specific colours such as the bass drum, carillons or tubular bells, they are adaptable on a number of different instruments and I’ve loved tweaking them in order to play them on organs all across the world. I hope you enjoy playing them as much as I’ve enjoyed writing them! When I was a teenager, my dad and brother would often choose the films we’d watch. When they chose Pirates of the Caribbean I was a bit sceptical at first because I thought it might be too scary, but I quickly fell in love with the film and its soundtrack – it became my favourite film series and I ended up listening to the soundtrack almost every day on the walk to and from school. In the films, the character of Davy Jones plays an iconic organ on his ship, the Flying Dutchman – I think it’s one of the most well-known organ references in contemporary cinema, and so it is one of my most requested pieces. I I also love the fact that Hans Zimmer includes a little nod to Bach’s Toccata in D minor, another piece which sits at the top of my request list. In the film, the start and end of this piece is played by a musical locket, perfectly replicated by the Celeste stop on the organ, although if a Celeste stop isn’t available then a soft 8’ flute would do the job!  - Anna Lapwood.

A well known French Noel (Quand Jesus naquit à Noël) from the Baroque era, arranged by many of the big French Baroque composers like Balastre and Beauvarlet-Charpentier. It is also a very populair Christmas song in The Netherlands (Midden in de Winternacht). I made an accessible Basse de Trompette over this beautiful melodie. However it’s written in C major however it requires some skills to play the solo with the left hand. A lovely tune as a prelude or any other occasion around Christmas. And of course, you can sing the the words on this one as well.
